Seventh-Day Adventists and others who attempt to make observing a 7th day (Saturday) sabbath some sort of “proof test” … please take heed:
The 7th day (Saturday) sabbath applied ONLY to Israel. NEVER to the Christian Church!
Exodus 31:16 Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the sabbath, observing the sabbath throughout their generations, as a perpetual covenant.
Exodus 31:17 It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

Nowhere in scripture is the Church EVER obligated to observe a Saturday sabbath. In fact, just the opposite is true:
Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of a festival day or of the new moon or of the sabbaths,
Col 2:17
Which are a shadow of things to come: but the body is of Christ.
Col 2:18
Let no man seduce you, willing in humility and religion of angels, walking in the things which he hath not seen, in vain puffed up by the sense of his flesh:
Col 2:19
And not holding the head, from which the whole body, by joints and bands, being supplied with nourishment and compacted, groweth into the increase of God.
Col 2:20
If then you be dead with Christ from the elements of this world, why do you yet decree as though living in the world?

The 7th day sabbath applied ONLY to the Jews … NEVER to Christians, who are under the grace and peace of the New Covenant … and who find constant rest and peace in the Lord Jesus Christ … NOT in any jot or tittle of the old law … the law which was definitively and perfectly fulfilled, then respectfully and perpetually set aside by Christ … in favor of the new and better covenant, which Jesus paid for with his own blood.
If you’re authentically Christian, then your primary “Feast Day” and the day officially set aside by the Church to worship God and to fellowship with his people is SUNDAY!
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
Sunday – fulfillment of the sabbath
2175 Sunday is expressly distinguished from the sabbath which it follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremonial observance replaces that of the sabbath. In Christ’s Passover, Sunday fulfills the spiritual truth of the Jewish sabbath and announces man’s eternal rest in God. For worship under the Law prepared for the mystery of Christ, and what was done there prefigured some aspects of Christ:107
- Those who lived according to the old order of things have come to a new hope, no longer keeping the sabbath, but the Lord’s Day, in which our life is blessed by him and by his death.108
2176 The celebration of Sunday observes the moral commandment inscribed by nature in the human heart to render to God an outward, visible, public, and regular worship “as a sign of his universal beneficence to all.”109 Sunday worship fulfills the moral command of the Old Covenant, taking up its rhythm and spirit in the weekly celebration of the Creator and Redeemer of his people.

Good Afternoon on the West Coast. Just what I have come to believe and why.
I do believe that the Sabbath should be a special day. It is the last day of the week.
I agree that the old law with the fourth commandment among many other requirements werre fulfilled with and in Jesus with his sacrificial death on our behalf. That law just kept sinful man constantly accused and we are now no longer burdened by the law itself, only it;s principals (guess I said that correctly).
As for the Sabbath, in Genesis 2 :2-4 God Blessed the Seventh day and made it Holy (as a Memorial of creation and Salvation. God already knowing all things, gave mankind this day as a reminder of Hise love for man by having a plan in place for those He already loved, salvationour salvation by a ppropitiatory sacrifice
I had lost the first comment and it wasn’t finished to had to start a new one and I really like it better so please read on
I agree, the 4th commandment that says to Keep the Sabbath was part of the law God placed the Israelites under and was fulfilled in Jesus Christ although, the principals of that law are still in effect. Notice I said in effect not programmed into us allowing for no free will. Note Matthew 5:17-20 that says in part (in vs 17) “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets, I have come to fulfill them….(in 19) anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven…and (vs 20) for I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.”
In Genesis 2:2-4 God memorialized the seventh day by blessing it and making it Holy, long before he added it as LAW to the Israelites. It was to be a day to memorialize the Creation and (our God, knowing all things,) His provision for our Salvation, It was a Blessed day provided as a reminder of what God had done and will do for mankind from creation onward including having in place a propitiatory redemption plan for redemption of those He loved and who loved Him.
That has never been done away with and I delight in spending that day, the seventh/last day of the week sharing and memorializing, with my brothers and sisters, the amazing gift Christ was willing to give for our undeserved life, HIS LIFE.
I’m speaking from my heart and what the God of the Universe has given me. I hope no one feels offended but would rather think and peruse and pray on this thought. May whatever decision you conclude have a firm conviction, based on the Bible, Gods’ letter for all mankind, whether they exercise their free will to accept it or not. Ask for God’s direction and you will not be disappointed of the answer.
