WHAT DOES THE ASSUMPTION MEAN? IS IT A TRUE BELIEF?

Q: WHAT DOES THE ASSUMPTION MEAN? IS IT A TRUE BELIEF?

A: To be “assumed” is to be bodily taken up to Heaven, by the power of God.

Those who knew the Blessed Virgin … most prominently, St. John … knew only that Mary’s body was no longer present in the tomb, but it had been replaced by a huge quantity of flowers.

Some time later, after St. John received the Book of Revelation, he made it known to his disciples that certain portions of it referred to the Blessed Virgin Mary … the “Ark” of the New Covenant … who was bodily taken up to Heaven by the power of God.

This was nothing new. Enoch and Elijah received similar treatment. Some think Moses did, too.
