Three part series claims to expose the church of Scientology from the inside

The leader of the Church of Scientology strode into the room with a boom box and an announcement: Time for a game of musical chairs.

David Miscavige had kept more than 30 members of his church’s executive staff cooped up for weeks in a small office building outside Los Angeles, not letting them leave except to grab a shower. They slept on the floor, their food carted in.

Their assignment was to develop strategic plans for the church. But the leader trashed their every idea and berated them as incompetents and enemies, of him and the church.

Prove your devotion, Miscavige told them, by winning at musical chairs. Everyone else — losers, all of you — will be banished to Scientology outposts around the world. If families are split up, too bad.

To the music of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody they played through the night, parading around a conference room in their Navy-style uniforms, grown men and women wrestling over chairs.

The next evening, early in 2004, Miscavige gathered the group and out of nowhere slapped a manager named Tom De Vocht, threw him to the ground and delivered more blows. De Vocht took the beating and the humiliation in silence — the way other executives always took the leader’s attacks.

This account comes from executives who for decades were key figures in Scientology’s powerful inner circle. Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder, the highest-ranking executives to leave the church, are speaking out for the first time.

Apostle’s successors officially no longer seek conversion of Jews. What would Jesus do?

usccb

Now that the year of St. Paul has officially ended:

**********

“The USCCB reaffirms what the Holy See has stated repeatedly: that while the Catholic Church does not proselytize the Jewish people, neither does she fail to witness to them her faith in Christ, nor to welcome them to share in that same faith whenever appropriate,” said Bishop Lori, chairman of the Bishops’ Committee on Doctrine and Pastoral Practice.”

**********

(Editor’s note: So much for almost 2000 years of Catholic Tradition. The leadership of the Catholic Church has no guts, and has finally managed to officially and quite publicly reject one of the “prime directives”  of Jesus Christ.

Barack Obama, the ABORTION President surely understands this, as do the forces of evil everywhere. No wonder Catholics get no respect!)

The Gospel of Matthew duly notes the words of Jesus Christ, in the Great Commission::

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

This policy is not only heretical, but it is also fundamentally anti-Semitic … while at the same time … anti-Christian. Can we now expect an updated translation of the New American Bible, which might read something like this?

And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: SOME power is given to me in heaven and on earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations (except for Israel) baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost (except for the Jews). Teaching them to observe only SOME of the things I have commanded you. And behold, even though I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world,  be afraid. Be very afraid. And please leave the Jews alone, since it would be politically incorrect to seek their conversion, and a lot of work, too.

The murder of George Tiller while “safely” inside his church … the ultimate irony!

tiller-sebelius2

A church is generally considered a place of safety and refuge … much as a baby is supposed to remain safe, warm and protected inside his/her mother’s womb.

George Tiller denied any such safe refuge to the estimated 60,000 babies he killed, all the while claiming that he heroically provided a necessary “service” to women … even though roughly half of the babies he killed were female.

George Tiller sowed corruption and death on a grand scale, and his apostate church backed him up all the way.

Now Tiller is dead and his killing center is shuttered. Tiller’s church refused to host his funeral, and the entrance of that church will always be stained with Tiller’s blood.

While there is no justification under the law for the killing of abortionists like Tiller, one can’t help but appreciate the irony.

Right, Left, Socialist, Marxist/Leninist, Nazi … all of the above, or other? You decide.

hitler_adolf

The Nazis’ dislike for Christianity was so great that, not surprisingly, they sought to destroy it. Leftists may scoff at a notion so contrary to their prejudices, but the evidence of this fact is now overwhelming. And of this evidence, perhaps the most compelling was uncovered by a Jewish attorney named Julie Seltzer Mandel, a woman whose grandmother was a survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp. I addressed her discovery in my piece “Hitler and Christianity,” writing:

While a law student and editor of the Nuremberg Project for the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion, Mandel gained access to 148 bound volumes of rare documents — some marked “Top Secret” — compiled by the Office of Strategic Services (or O.S.S., the WWII forerunner to the CIA).

After scouring the papers, she published the first installment of them in 2002, a 120-page O.S.S. report entitled “The Nazi Master Plan: The Persecution of the Christian Churches.” Reporting on these O.S.S. findings in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Edward Colimore wrote: “The fragile, typewritten documents from the 1940s lay out the Nazi plan in grim detail: Take over the churches from within, using party sympathizers. Discredit, jail or kill Christian leaders. And re-indoctrinate the congregants. Give them a new faith — in Germany’s Third Reich.” He then quotes Mandel: “A lot of people will say, ‘I didn’t realize that they were trying to convert Christians to a Nazi philosophy.’… They wanted to eliminate the Jews altogether, but they were also looking to eliminate Christianity.”

To this day nothing has changed. If you examine the writings of contemporary white supremacists, you will find much hatred for Christianity, affection for paganism and sympathy for Islam.

Now, I ask you: Which is better characterized by this description, the right or left? When answering, remember that those euphemistically-named censorship bureaucracies of the left, “human rights commissions,” consistently silence those who dare criticize Islam, most notably Christians.

Israeli diplomat speaks about Pope Benedict XVI, the Church, and Israel

The past year has been an eventful one for Jewish-Catholic relations – there were controversies over the revival of an allegedly anti-Semitic Good Friday prayer and the lifting of the excommunication of a Holocaust-denying bishop, and then there was the visit by Pope Benedict XVI to Israel. In the middle of it all was Mordechay Lewy, a longtime Israeli diplomat who serves as Israel’s ambassador to the Holy See.

Lewy, who previously represented Israel in Germany, Sweden and Thailand, visited Boston this week, primarily to speak at a conference at Boston College, and I spoke with him Friday morning at his hotel in Newton.

Here are edited excerpts of our conversation:

Q: Why do relations with the Vatican matter?
A: We can not afford, as a Jewish state, and we can not afford as a Jewish people, to continue on after 1,900 years of bad experience, traumatic experience with the Christian world. Now, if we take the Christian world as a whole, it’s quite an amorphic body. But at least if we have a well known structure, as the Catholic Church, with a top echelon of it in Vatican, I think that would be a missed opportunity not to get along with them as much as we can, knowing that we will not ever be able to come to terms on all aspects the questions which lie between us.

Q: You’ve been at the Vatican for a year. What have you learned?
A: From the books you can see that it is an absolute monarchy, but it is not. Far, far from that. Structural absolute monarchy doesn’t mean that the monarch is trying to exercise, on every day basis, his authority. You are reducing your authority if you are using it too often. In military terms, if you have a power of deterrence, keep the power, don’t use it, because after using it, everybody will know what you are worth. You can also (apply that) with authority. If you are really applying it all the time, you are likely to get a lot of frictions, and by that you are losing at least a degree of the authority you had at the beginning. And I think the pope is very well aware of that.

Spanish Bishops on abortion and the legitimate role of government

“The government that awards the description of a ‘right’ to something that, in reality, is an attack against the fundamental right to life, perverts the fundamental order of rationality that is the basis for its legitimacy,” the bishops write. “The care of the fundamental good of human life and the right to life form an essential part of the obligations of [government] authority.”

Quoting the text of the Catholic Church’s Second Vatican Council, the bishops call abortion an “abominable crime” and “an intrinsically evil act that very seriously violates the dignity of an innocent human being, taking his life.”

They go on to observe that “the inclusion of abortion among the means that are supposedly necessary to care for the health is in and of itself a serious falsehood. The actions of medicine are directed to preventing illness or curing it.   But a pregnancy will never be an illness in itself, although it can be accompanied by health complications, be unexpected, or even be the result of a rape. For that reason, to carry out an abortion is never to cure, it is always to kill.”

Abortion … a common sense approach

The dirty little secret is that Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was an arch racist who promoted abortion with the intent to reduce the number of minority births. She referred to blacks as, “…human weeds,’ ‘reckless breeders,’ ‘spawning… human beings who never should have been born.”

I never understood why African Americans and other minorities didn’t rise up against abortion. As for a patriot’s viewpoint, our nation’s Declaration of Independence states that all of our rights come from our Creator. Among these are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Because the creative process begins with the act of conception, every unborn child has the right to develop in the womb into the fullness of life, to enjoy liberty after birth, and to pursue happiness and fulfillment until their last day on earth.

God, history, and the Washington Monument

lausdeo2

LAUS DEO

One detail that is never mentioned is that in Washington , DC . there can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument .

With all the uproar about removing the ten commandments, etc., this is worth a moment or two of your time.

On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington , DC , are displayed two words: Laus Deo.

No one can see these words. In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn’t care less.

Once you know Laus Deo’s history, you will want to share this with everyone you know. These words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched atop the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia , capital of the United States of America

Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world.

So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean? Very simply, they say ‘Praise be to God!’

Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States , it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo’ Praise be to God!’

From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments. From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l’Enfant . A perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the North. The Jefferson Memorial is to the South, the Capitol to the East and the Lincoln Memorial to the West.

A cross you ask? Why a cross? What about separation of church and state? Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution. So, read on. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice.

Praise be to God! Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message.

On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore ;

on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians;

on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God!

When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy ‘One Nation, Under God.’

I am awed by Washington’s prayer for America .. Have you ever read it? Well, now is your unique opportunity, so read on!

‘Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord.. Amen.’

Laus Deo!

When one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places all over our nation’s capitol, he or she will easily find the signature of God, as it is unmistakably inscribed everywhere you look. You may forget the width and height of ‘Laus Deo ,’ its location, or the architects but no one who reads this will be able to forget its meaning, or these words: ‘Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.’ (Psalm 127: 1)

It is hoped you will send this to every child you know; to every sister, brother, father, mother or friend. They will not find offense, because you have given them a lesson in history that they probably never learned in school. With that, be not ashamed, or afraid, but have pity on those who will never see this because someone failed to send it on.

Why Obama Scares Me, Too

obamamessiah

You scare me because your media team does not address or diminish in any way your deification before the world, epitomized by the editor of Newsweek who stated this past week on Chris Matthews’ MSNBC show: “In a way, Obama’s standing above the country, above the world. He’s sort of God.” (How much scarier can it get than representative statements like that in a republic that once stood for a balance among political powers and a government “by the people, for the people”?)

Pope John Paul II and Hugh Hefner?

playboy

Viewers of the “Nightline” segment on Christopher West may have been led to believe that the theologian considers Pope John Paul II and Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy Enterprises, to be on equal ground in their treatment of sexuality. But the piece, which condensed several hours of footage into a seven-minute video feature, may have missed the mark in presenting West’s comparison between the two.

West told Our Sunday Visitor his explanation of the connection he drew between Hefner and the pope was misrepresented.

“Both men began addressing the problem of Puritanism at the same historical moment — the early 1950s. As Catholics, we actually agree with Hefner’s diagnosis of the disease: a Puritanical rejection of the body and sex is utterly contrary to Catholic faith. But we radically disagree with his cure. John Paul II offered the world the real cure for the disease of Puritanism and its twin sister, sexual license.

“My strong disagreement with Hefner never showed up in the piece. Instead, they claimed Hefner is a ‘hero’ of mine. It’s been painful to see that some Catholics have accepted ABC’s spin at face value.”

PBS national board bans religious programming

pbslogo

Arlington, Va., Jun 18, 2009 / 07:24 am (CNA).- The members of PBS’ national board have voted to ban any new religious programming from their affiliate stations, citing both concerns about “public trust” and a 25-year-old rule that has never been rigorously enforced. Anticipation of the vote already resulted in one station cancelling its Mass for Shut-Ins.

The 1985 rule in question requires PBS affiliates to air only non-commercial, non-partisan and non-sectarian content.

Reportedly six affiliates broadcast “sectarian” programs produced by local religious groups, such as the Mass for Shut-Ins. These affiliates may retain their current shows and air programs and documentaries that cover sacred or newsworthy topics, Fox News says.

However, no new religious shows can be offered, and the 350 other stations may not air any purely spiritual content.

“Catholic” universities promote internships at anti-Catholic organizations

DePaul University: The DePaul University Women’s and Gender Studies program offers credit for internships, noting that students have interned with abortion provider Planned Parenthood and the Chicago Women’s Health Center, which offers emergency contraceptive services and alternative insemination for “lesbians, bisexual, and queer couples, single women of any sexual orientation, and trans people.”

Loyola University of Chicago: The Loyola University of Chicago Women’s Studies and Gender Studies website lists opportunities for internships and volunteer opportunities at the following pro-abortion organizations: Chicago National Organization for Women, the Feminist Majority Foundation, Planned Parenthood, and the Chicago Abortion Fund.

Unfortunately, there’s LOTS more!

United Way Organizations in Sarasota, Florida and Buffalo, New York Support Abortion Business

Sarasota, FL (LifeNews.com) — United Way local affiliates in two locations are coming under fire for making donations to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business.

Local pro-life advocates in Sarasota, Florida say the United Way of Sarasota County has continued to give money to Planned Parenthood as it has done since 1976. That accounts for 31 of the 42 years Planned Parenthood has been located in the area. United Way has contributed $42,000 annually for each of the last three years to the Florida-based Planned Parenthood under the ironic category of “Building Strong Children and Families.”

The UW affiliate gave $20,380 for Planned Parenthood programs targeted at teenagers and another $21,620 for programs targeting low-income area residents.

Local pro-life advocates are asking people to contact members of the UW board, including Marc Lazarus, president and CEO of R&L Healthcare Advisors; Debra Douglas, FCCI Insurance Group executive vice president; and Susan Scott, Sarasota County deputy county administrator.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo-area United Way is also under fire. A local pro-life group is calling on Buffalo residents to stop funding the UW of Buffalo and Erie County after the organization rescinded a policy that prevented funding for any agencies that do abortions. Stacia Zoladz Vogel, president of Buffalo Regional Right to Life, said the United Way’s decision was “outrageous” and “unacceptable.” Buffalo pro-life advocates, like those in Florida, say the fact that the donations are not used directly to pay for abortions doesn’t matter because the money is fungible and frees up Planned Parenthood funds that would have otherwise have gone to pay for and promote abortions.

Suddenly! The way in which God works …

cloudltngenh

Suddenly!

Is The Way In Which GOD Works…

The ways of GOD are sudden and without warning.

A miracle happens. A vision or a locution is bestowed upon someone. A loved one is taken.

GOD does not normally give prior notice of what he is about to do.

One noticeable exception to this general rule was the great ‘Miracle of the Sun’ at Fatima on October 13, 1917.

It was revealed ahead of time by GOD through the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Some people live their entire lives without serving GOD in any way and seem to think that on their death bed they will repent and make their peace with Him.

We must all be prepared to go at anytime. Look what happened to Princess Diana, Princess Grace, John F. Kennedy, and many others who were taken without warning.

Were they all prepared and in GOD’S grace and ready to go?

If we are going on a trip in this life, do we not prepare for it a long time in advance?

Why then do so many not prepare for their final eternal trip, the only trip that really matters?

The poverty of personal, social, and ethical misery

spainavila

Avila, Spain, Jun 15, 2009 / 09:03 pm (CNA).- Bishop Jesus Garcia Burillo of Avila, Spain said recently that the current economic crisis has revealed another face of poverty–the poverty of values. In response to this values crisis, he called on the faithful to embrace solidarity.

“This crisis gives evidence to a profound anthropological rupture and a crisis of moral values.  The dignity of the human being is the value that is in crisis when the person is the center of social, economic and business life; when money becomes an end in itself and not a means of service to the person and to social development,” the bishop said in a recent letter.
