Seen on the web: Islam, the Koran, and You.

The Catholic Church teaches this about Islam, in its official Catechism:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”330

A reader at Jihad Watch recently posted the following about the teachings of the Koran.

Islamic Allah is the greatest deceiver of all (3:54) and leads people astray (14:27).

The Koran was made by Allah (10:37) and always been in heaven with Allah (85:21-:22).

The Koran is flawless (39:28) and only in Arabic (39:28, 43:3).

The current Koran has 114 Chapters, yet other original Korans had 111 Chapters (Abdullah bin Masud), while yet others had 116 Chapters (Ubayy bin Ka’b).

What to do?

The world’s most powerful Muslim who reigned as caliph from 644-658 called Uthmam ordered other original Korans burned.

The current Koran, Chapter 33 has 77 verses, but originally had hundreds more.

One of the verses omitted was stoning to death for rape and adultery (Rajam), just like Mohammed ordered done to a mother who finished weaning her infant.

Mohammed is the ideal example of conduct for for Muslim and a prophet (33:21, 68:4), yet illiterate=unlettered (7:157).

Mohammed (51) married child bride Aisha (6) and raped her when she was 9 and he was 54 (Bukhari 7.62.88)

Mohammed says the devil stays in the upper-part of the nose all night (Sahih Bukhari Volume 6, Book 666, Verse 3295).

Muslims are the best of humanity (Koran 3:110).
Muslims are forbidden from doubting ANY part of the Koran (2:1).

Muslims are forbidden from asking questions about the Koran (Koran 5:101).

Muslims are REQUIRED to fight and kill us, even if they don’t want to (2:216, 2:244, 4:89, 4:91).

Muslims MUST crucify, amputate, and slaughter non-Muslims (5:33).

Muslims CANNOT have non-Muslims as friends (5:51).

Muslims are allowed to lie to non-Muslims to spread Islam (3:28, 16:106).

Jews, Christians, and others are apes and pigs (2:65, 5:60, 7:163-166).

Should we tolerate child rape (65:4) and sex slaves (4:24) in Islam by Muslims?

Should we allow Muslims to kill us because it’s the ONLY guaranteed way for Muslims to get to heaven (9:111)?

Should we let Muslims behead us (smite our necks – Koran 8:12, 47:4)?

Should we be killed for refusing to convert to Islam (9:29)?

Should Muslims be killed for leaving Islam (Bukhari 9.84.57)?

Should Infidel women be stoned to death (Rajam) for the crime of adultery and getting raped (Sahih Bukhari 8.82.816)?

Discovery: Earth may have once shared its orbit with a Mars-sized body that later crashed into it.

Buried in the flood of data from the Kepler telescope is a planetary system unlike any seen before. Two of its apparent planets share the same orbit around their star. If the discovery is confirmed, it would bolster a theory that Earth once shared its orbit with a Mars-sized body that later crashed into it, resulting in the moon’s formation.

The two planets are part of a four-planet system dubbed KOI-730. They circle their sun-like parent star every 9.8 days at exactly the same orbital distance, one permanently about 60 degrees ahead of the other. In the night sky of one planet, the other world must appear as a constant, blazing light, never fading or brightening.

Gravitational “sweet spots” make this possible. When one body (such as a planet) orbits a much more massive body (a star), there are two Lagrange points along the planet’s orbit where a third body can orbit stably.

Seen on the web, regarding marriage …

… the downward spiral to the present state of affairs of moral relativism ( which sees nothing wrong with divorce, same sex unions, etc.) began with Martin Luther, which began what I call the ”great divorce.”

Once you separate yourself from Peter you have lost the foundation for all morality. No, I don’t think the war is lost, but it will take a miracle of grace to put it all back together.

Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Siegel of the Diocese of Joliet: The Church must continue to point out our teaching…”

Bishop Siegel, suggested that the many Presidential appointments of Catholics who oppose the right to life is a “very sad” situation.  It is, he said, “Not living out faith authentically. Not witnessing in the public forum to their faith”

“Can’t have it both ways,” he added.  The Church must, he said continue to “point out our teaching, keep it firm, saying this is what it means to be a faithful Catholic.”

“If you’re not abiding by that, not legislating that way, not supporting that, then it’s hard to play yourself as a faithful Catholic,” added Bishop Siegel. “If you’re not following something essential as the Gospel of life and the teachings on life.”

Dr. William Oddie: The (present) Novus Ordo is a valid Catholic Mass, written in unambiguous language.

The issues involved, however, will be with us for some time, and still have to be faced, since the casual acceptance of some supposedly “traditionalist” views has done considerable damage. One of these was summed up by one participant in the ongoing Herald debate: his view is essentially that the Novus Ordo is an invalid rite:

“The Novus Ordo does not signify the Catholic theology of the holy sacrifice of the Mass. It is ambiguous – deliberately so – and tends toward giving a Protestant understanding of the Lord’s Supper, which gradually will replace the Catholic Mass in the eyes and psyche of whatever remaining “Catholic” attend it. It is simple: no sacrifice = no need for a sacrificing priest = no need for an altar but merely a table for a commemorative meal over which the presbyter presides and in which the people of God exercise their universal priesthood and so they, not any priest, worship God in their way instead of in His.”

This is a grotesque distortion – no, worse, an actual direct untruth – simply asserted as though it were self-evident. The Novus Ordo is very clearly a valid Catholic liturgy, in which the doctrine of the Mass as sacrifice is both assumed and unambiguously stated. Consider the following, from the current English translation of Eucharistic prayer III:

Father, calling to mind the death your Son endured for our salvation, his glorious Resurrection and ascension into heaven, and ready to greet him when he comes again, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice.

Look with favour on your Church’s offering, and see the victim whose death has reconciled us to yourself. Grant that we, who are nourished by his body and blood, may be filled with his Holy Spirit, and become one body, one spirit in Christ.

May he make us an everlasting gift to you and enable us to share in the inheritance of your saints, with Mary, the virgin Mother of God, with the apostles, the martyrs, and all your saints, on whose constant intercession we rely for help.

Lord, may this sacrifice, which has made our peace with you, advance the peace and salvation of all the world…

There’s Nine Days Until Lent Begins. Here’s A Novena To Help You Get Ready.

FATHER, all-powerful and ever-living God,

During the Holy Season of Lent

You call us to a closer union with Yourself.

Help me to prepare to celebrate

The Paschal Mystery

With mind and heart renewed.

Give me a spirit of loving reverence

For You, our Father,

And of willing service to my neighbor.

As I recall the great events

That gave us new life in Christ,

Bring the image of Your Son

To perfection within my soul.

This great season of grace is Your gift

To Your family to renew us in spirit.

Give me strength to purify my heart,

To control my desires,

And so to serve You in freedom,

Teach me how to live

In this passing world with my heart set

On the world that will never end.

I ask for the grace

To master my sinfulness

And conquer my pride.

I want to show to those in need

Your goodness to me by being kind to all.

Through my observance of Lent,

Help me to correct my faults

And raise my mind to You,

And thus grow in holiness

That I may deserve

The reward of everlasting life.

In Your mercy grant me this special favor
[name a special intention]

The days of the life-giving Death

And glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Your Son, are approaching.

This is the hour

When He triumphed over Satan’s pride,

The time when we celebrate

The great event of our Redemption.

The Suffering and Death of Your Son

Brought life to the whole world,

Moving our hearts to praise Your glory.

The power of the Cross reveals

Your judgment on this world

And the kingship of Christ crucified.

Father, through His love for us

And through His Sufferings, Death and Resurrection,

May I gain eternal life with You in heaven.

“The Priesthood” by Father Peter Joseph

Introduction by Eamonn Keane

…Given the widespread misunderstanding regarding the origin and nature of the ordained priesthood both inside the Catholic Church itself and beyond, a problem that has been exacerbated by the clerical sexual abuse scandals of recent times, I thought it would be worthwhile to produce a series of articles on the priesthood. As the first in the series I publish below an article authored by Australian theologian Fr. Peter Joseph titled The Priesthood. The article was first published by the Catholic Adult Education Centre in Sydney in 2009 as INFORM 120: Faith & Life Matters. I am grateful to the editor of Inform for giving me permission to reproduce the article here in my RenewAmerica column. It is the first time it has been published online.

Read The Priesthood by Father Peter Joseph

Editor’s note: The most essential and primary role of the priest is to offer sacrifice to God, for the people. The Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Catholic Holy Eucharist is the primary reason that we Catholics, for our ministers, require nothing less than suitably ordained priests.

And while every Catholic priest is indeed also a minister … not every minister is a priest … since only suitably ordained ministers (ordained in and through the Catholic Sacrament of Holy Orders, by the Catholic bishop’s duly authorized, laying on of hands) receive (among other things) the power from God to change ordinary bread and wine into the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, at Mass.

The Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the holiest sacrament of the altar further underscores the fact that Catholic priests are true priests indeed … since at Mass, they offer up for us to God … nothing less than Jesus Christ … who remains the only acceptable sacrifice for the sins of the world.

Since priests carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ, literally acting in Jesus’ place … assisting the bishops in their task of teaching, sanctifying and governing … it’s not surprising that clerical failings and scandals wound so deeply the hearts of the Catholic faithful.

All the more reason we Catholics should demand strict oversight of our seminaries, and total accountability from those who are in charge of priestly formation and education … something which has been substantially out of control now, for several decades.

Chicago Pro-Lifers Deliver Surprise “Shock And Awe” Counter Demonstration Against Forces of Death.

A “Walk for Choice” Rally was held at Chicago’s Daley Plaza on Saturday, February 26, 2011.

These exclusive videos shows a Pro-Life flash mob taking the “pro-choicers” by surprise with Life, Spirit, and Truth! The first scene shows the unsuspecting participants of the “Walk for Choice.” The “Shire” theme song is coming from the Pro-Life flash mob, just before they unveiled their hundreds of yellow balloons imprinted with “LIFE”. Participants of the “Walk for Choice” were asked to wear orange for the event, so the Pro-Life flash mob asks in their sign: “ORANGE YOU GLAD TO SEE US???”

13 million abortions a year in China (3.5 Million in the U.S.)

‘I didn’t mind. Abortion now is painless anyway – I was under anaesthetic. It’s so easy, no wonder it’s popular nowadays.’

Young women like Ms Zhou form the main group driving China’s abortions, which number about 13 million annually or nearly a quarter of the world’s total. Abortions in China peaked in the 1990s, with official figures saying 14 million were performed.

Writer explains why public employees collective bargaining rights should be curtailed.

A union is nothing more than a talent agency. Its purpose is to offer a company skilled and trained employees. And like any other vendor looking for a contract, it’s ultimately the company’s decision whether to deal with a union or to look elsewhere when hiring. There is nothing particularly noble about either unions or their stockholders (membership). Certainly there is no major difference between a union and any other for-profit endeavor. Both the company and the union are in business to maximize profit and minimize loss.

Which may then surprise you when I say public service employee unions ARE bad. And I believe it was a major mistake for President Kennedy to have allowed them collective-bargaining privileges. Public service unions are only regarded as “noble” because the union members tell us they are.

You see, a public service union is NOT based on free association. It is NOT based on the freedoms of speech and free assembly. Public service unions are a scam and a cheat.

Now I suppose some readers are reaching for their blood pressure medication about now, and probably more than a little profanity is being directed my way. So let me give you a short example of why I believe this is true.

Editor’s note: Funny … neither the USCCB … nor any of the Wisconsin Catholic bishops mentioned this!

“I know every facet of abortion,” he wrote. “I helped nurture the creature in its infancy by feeding it great draughts of blood and money; I guided it through its adolescence as it grew fecklessly out of control.”

“I am one of those,” as he later wrote, “who helped usher in this barbaric age,” and he spent the last 30 years of his life trying to atone for it.

His journey began with personal experience. Born in 1926, Nathanson was in medical school in Canada in 1949 when his girlfriend told him she was pregnant. Appropriating money from his father, he paid for her illegal abortion. The experience—and the desperate effort to justify what he had done—led him by the mid-1960s to become one of the nation’s most prominent advocates for legalized abortion.

Priest Explains: All Catholics are Christian … but not all Christians are Catholic.

The early Church Fathers describe the Church as Catholic. In the writings of St. Ignatius of Antioch (110 A.D.), the word “Catholic” is used to distinguish the Church of Jesus Christ, from heretical (non-Christian) teachings. Ignatius was the first to document the term “Catholic” in its current form, to describe the Universal Church. In the 4th Century, the Catholic Church defined the “Trinity” and fought against the heresy of “Arianism”, which stated that Jesus was not “fully God” and not “fully human.”

Why Barack Obama has to be seen as an enemy of the Catholic Church

Is Barack Obama the most anti-Catholic American president in living memory?

I don’t mean, of course, that he has openly attacked the Church (though it was noted that, at his inauguration as president, contrary to normal practice there was among the clergy invited to attend not one single Catholic, though he made a point of inviting the controversial — because openly and actively homosexual — Episcopalian (i.e. Anglican) bishop, Gene Robinson).

What I mean, though, is that across the whole spectrum of contemporary moral issues, he is passionately committed to a series of views which run directly contrary to those of the Church. All this has caused at least one Catholic bishop (there are probably others) to call him anti-Catholic.

Speaker John Boehner gets a letter from a group of pro-life heavyweights.

The Honorable John Boehner
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Speaker Boehner,

Planned Parenthood, a scandal-plagued abortion organization, must be held accountable for abusing innocent young victims while receiving hundreds of millions in federal dollars each year.

They must be defunded of federal tax dollars, and now is the time to do it. The House vote in support of Rep. Mike Pence’s Amendment No. 11 to the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011 (H.R. 1) to prevent government funding for the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, is an excellent start.

However, the House vote on the Pence Amendment is nothing more than symbolic unless it remains intact through the legislative process. Defunding Planned Parenthood must be a non-negotiable in the Continuing Resolution and we urge you to accept nothing less than this outcome.

The fact that Planned Parenthood was caught aiding and abetting sex traffickers proves that it is not safe for women and young girls. What goes on in offices and clinics of Planned Parenthood, as Live Action’s videos show is both saddening and shocking. That it has often been done using taxpayer dollars is indefensible.

As the largest abortion company in the United States, Planned Parenthood repeatedly refuses to comply with state statutory rape reporting laws, and often ignores parental consent laws.

Just this week, Phill Kline, former Attorney General of Kansas, testified under oath that Planned Parenthood of Overland Park and the late abortionist George

Tiller performed abortions on a combined 166 girls, age fourteen or younger. Out of the 166 cases of statutory rape, just two were reported to authorities, Kline testified.

As debate over the Continuing Resolution continues we urge you to do everything you can to ensure that the Pence Amendment remains intact in the final version of’ the Continuing Resolution. Planned Parenthood is not safe for women, it is not safe for young girls, and it must be defunded now.

Tom Roeser: Obama not invited to royal wedding because Queen wasn’t invited to D-Day ceremony.

Writing about the British Royals:

What is there about Americans who feel their lives are incomplete unless they learn about these rascal liberal maleducated wastrels?

The only good thing they did….and I imagine it was done collectively…was to nix our own royal, mysterious Half Breed African Prince to William and Kate’s wedding—suffice it for returning the bronze bust of Winston Churchill and his illiterate veto of the invitation to Queen Elizabeth to the ceremony for D-Day failing to appreciate that of all world leaders in power on June 6, 1944 she alone survives.

This ignoble breach shows that this fraud we have in the White House is really the ignoramus we thought he was  all along…

L.A.Times takes a trip down memory lane with retiring Cardinal Mahoney.

When the social and political history of Los Angeles in the late 20th century comes to be written, it’s likely that two men will stand out as fundamentally transformative leaders. One will be Tom Bradley, the five-term mayor who changed the city’s politics and realigned its economic course; the other will be Cardinal Roger Mahony, the Hollywood-born prelate who has led what is now America’s largest Roman Catholic diocese as archbishop for the last quarter-century, a post from which he will retire Sunday on his 75th birthday, as church law requires.

In 1923 the British “chopped off” 75% of the proposed Jewish Palestinian homeland to form an Arab Palestinian Nation of “Trans-Jordan,” meaning “across the Jordan River.”

The Palestinian Arabs now had THEIR homeland… the remaining 25% of the original Palestinian territory (west of the Jordan River) was to be the Jewish Palestinian homeland. (Source: UnitedJerusalem.Org)

Obama’s Foreign Policy Efforts Would Be Laughable If Things Weren’t So Serious.

After the CIA director began reporting intelligence he obtained from his TV set and the Director of Intelligence claimed the Muslim Brotherhood was a secular organization, it’s obvious that there isn’t a trace of intelligence in the Obama Administration.

To recap Obama’s foreign policy triumphs, he snubbed England, tried and failed to intimidate the little country of Honduras, picked a fight with Israel over some houses in Jerusalem, tried to budge China on its currency and got nowhere, got played by Russia on the START treaty and now helped overthrow a pro-American government in order to replace it with an anti-American government.

It seemed impossible that anyone in the White House could ever top Carter– but Barack Hussein Obama has done it in only 2 years. What he will do in his remaining time doesn’t bear thinking about.

Professor says: The main interest of Pope Paul VI’s birth control commission was to determine whether “the pill” could be licitly used.

February 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Documents now open to the public reveal a new story about the fascinating inner workings of the Pontifical Commission on Population, Family, and Birth-rate, commonly referred to as the “Birth Control Commission,” which was behind the critical papal encyclical Humanae Vitae.

Dr. Germain Grisez, emeritus Professor of Christian Ethics at Mount St. Mary’s University and a close friend and advisor to Commission member Fr. John Ford, S.J., has made the documents available on his website, along with a narrative of the events surrounding the Commission’s work from 1964 to 1966.

In an interview with LifeSiteNews, Dr. Grisez revealed further information about the significance of these documents, which he believes stand to correct mistaken public perceptions about the events leading up to the issuing of Humanae Vitae.
