Perfect, Tim thought. Then came the bad news — he would be working on construction of a new Planned Parenthood Clinic in St. Paul on University Avenue. The highest of highs became the lowest of lows as he quickly turned down the offer.

Yeah, well, people work on construction for many things they may not like or agree with, including prisons, nuclear power plants, oil rigs, refineries, chemical plants, etc. These buildings pollute the environment and kill people too, yet I suppose he wouldn’t have refused to work on THOSE.
I don’t think the guys should be punished for refusing to work on this site, but neither should people be punished for having an abortion either. This is not for MEN to dictate, but falls to the conscience of the woman who makes the choice either way.
It concerns me deeply that you don’t seem to realize the huge moral difference between the direct, intentional killing of an unborn baby and the potential, indirect hazards associated with the various industries you mentioned.
To insist that abortion has nothing to do with men is ludicrous, since 1) 50% of all aborted babies are male; and 2) 100% of all aborted babies are fellow human beings.
As for conscience, choice, and punishment: Choices have consequences, and when those deliberate choices result in the death of an innocent baby … somebody is most certainly going to pay … in this life … and/or the next.
God will not be mocked.
Until a MAN can get pregnant, they will have NO idea what it may be like to have an unwanted pregnancy (no matter how she got that way). Moreover, no MAN should tell a woman what she can or cannot do to her own body and reproductive system.
Pregnancy is still by far one of the most pressing reproductive concerns for women, and a concern that WOMEN have to deal with for a good portion of their lives. Men for the most part are absolved from that worry, since they (biologically) do not have to pay any consequences for sexual activity. Men never seem to get this fact. So, until there be foolproof birth control – affordable and available by all to all – ALL choices need to remain legal and it is the individual’s choice to decide what to do based on their OWN personal beliefs, not those that have been predetermined legislated for them by other entities (which have mostly been MEN in the positions of power throughout history).
We do have free will. Humans murder for a variety of reasons (some perhaps valid, some not) unfortunately. You have to decide your own “moral” conscience, not have it dictated to you by others.
The natural law … not men … “tells” a woman what she can and cannot do with her body. Christian morality serves to underscore the truth of that law, for the common good of all mankind.
Contraception is inherently evil, in that it perverts, distorts, and degrades all of human society. (Both men and women.) Besides that, contraception is decidedly unnatural, in every respect.
Murder (criminal homicide) is never morally permissible.
As for having morality “dictated” by others. That has always (quite rightly and necessarily) been the case.
The widespread rejection of the traditional moral code, in favor of the illusion of false liberty, is the reason we have so much misery in the world, today. And most of it (unfortunately) is self inflicted, in the name of liberty!
Actually murder (in the name of war, self-defense, bombings, genocide, executions, the inquisition) is condoned and was/still is considered “morally” permissible to many.
Sorry, but I do not believe that preventing a pregnancy when you cannot support or feed children you already do have to be “evil” in any way, shape or form. What IS evil, is making children suffer a lifetime of neglect, abuse, starvation, and sickness.
Perhaps instead of focusing so much energy on making abortion illegal, people should turn instead to preventing such tragedies and suffering that already exist in our world. Many who profess to be “religious” are quick to condemn abortion, yet turn a cold hard heart towards the plight of the poor and suffering LIVING and and already BORN children in our world. They should be ashamed, yet we hear them everyday complaining about welfare, taxes, and healthcare, foreign aid, and social services.
Who wants the unwanted? You?
Who should care or be responsible for the unwanted? The State? The Church? Taxpayers?
