Without bothering to read the linked article, I will say that I am a (now in my 60s) “child” of a union (Catholic/non-Catholic) that could well have ended in divorce, but did not. Not due to any resolution, but due mainly to the resolve of one party.
I would not presume to state which would have been the better course for the parent of mine who made the ultimate choice. However, the effect on me and my siblings…well, it was–and is– what it is.
I choose not to judge. Merely to state: Things are never as simple as even the most sophisticated “studies” find them to be.
All that said, I do not question the decisions made in my family, nor the aftermaths thereof.
