Cardinal Dolan waxes ecumenical at NY mosque: “You love God, we love God and he is the same God.”

Cardinal Dolan stressed that Catholics and Muslims have a mutual love of the United States and of the religious freedom that this country affords, especially the ability to meet with people of different beliefs that would not be possible in some other nations.

“Your love of marriage and family, your love of children and babies, your love of freedom — religious freedom particularly– your defense of life, your desire for harmony and unity and your care for others, your care for God’s creation and your care for those who are in need,” the cardinal said, were Islamic values also shared by Catholics and areas where there could be mutual cooperation.

He likened Muslims to earlier waves of Roman Catholic immigrants who some 150 years ago faced the same challenge of “how to become loyal, responsible, patriotic Americans without losing their faith.”

Editor’s note – According to the Catechism:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”330 LG 16; cf. NA 3.

*****

This passage appears to place the Muslims in the non-Christian “first place” – superior even to the Jews. It also rather naively takes Muslim claims at face value – rather than properly considering the weight of 14 centuries of historical evidence – much of it to the contrary.

Like the Cardinal, the Catholic Catechism appears to be politically correct, to the liberal extreme. Barack Obama himself couldn’t have said all this any better!

  1. Catholics believe in the Triune God: for Whom they—if truly faithful—would faithfully die. Muslims believe in a god who supposedly bids his followers to help Catholics meet such an end.

Obviously, only one of these clearly discrete deities is the One True God.

As for catechisms, it is way past time to return to those of Trent and Baltimore.

    • I’ve said it , and I will say it again….
1John 2:22 Those that do not believe that Christ Jesus is the Son Of God are ANTICHRIST! Allah is NOT My GOD! Mohamed states in the Koran , Abraham was going to sacrifice his son Ischmeal and not Issac and that Jesus was just a Prophet, and not the Son of God! The Moon god is not my God! This is the work of Satan, to draw People into his Church, away from Christ, and to Hades!

  2. Cardinal Dolan has forgotten the thousands that were killed by the Muslims right there in NY.  He has forgotten that they hate Catholics and have vowed to jihad kill all of them and rule all with Sharia Law.  Is he the same God Is he the God that gives terrorists 72 virgins when they kill innocent people.  I disagree with Dolan it is the Devil that is their God.  It is another case where liberalism trumps common sense.

    • Allah is NOT our God! He is the Great Deciever! We, as worshipper’s of Christ are… Infidels! We must always Remember this!
Their reasoning is : CONVERT OR DIE
No matter what Liberal Ideaology tells you..They are NOT a peaceful Religion, and Califate is their DESIRE! Sharia Law is their final goal.
Sorry to those Liberals, in our Church…they are WRONG!

  3. What’s Dolan’s position on Islam? Prone!

    • I was hoping, that Dolan wouldn’t distort the Muslim Faith, by saying we are all saved and we worship the same God! Allah, small g = god, preislamic moon god married to the Sun god having 3 little goddess daughters. Did not the Egyptian Pharohs worship Polytheistic gods, such as the moon, sun, water……
Catholics believe in the Triune God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit!)
You can’t have one, without the other! Has nothing to do with False Religions and only God gives Salvation!
I am not sure who is pushing the Ecumenism Nightmare, but I will not go for it!
