Is Mass “facing the people” like walking to Heaven, backward?

  1. During mass, I wince every time I watch a priest, altar boy, lector or whoever cross the center line of the sanctuary—between the high altar, with its centered tabernacle, and the “Cranmer table”—pause and then bow to…the latter. In so doing, the reverencer “moons” the Real Presence behind him.

    It is liturgical Bizarro World.

Exodus 33:23 And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face thou canst not see.
