Legalizing Civil Homosexual Marriage: Institutionalizing an objectively (mortally) sinful reality.

gendersymbols1

by Doug Lawrence

Anyone living “in sin” – i.e. two unmarried persons, cohabiting and having sexual relations with each other  – whether homosexual or heterosexual – institutionalizes and makes permanent a living arrangement which is objectively, mortally sinful.

Many do not understand (or evidently, even care) that it is impossible to make a good confession while maintaining an illicit relationship of this kind, which typically means that sins – any and all of them – cannot be absolved/forgiven in the sacrament of reconciliation – unless and until something changes.

For cohabiting heterosexual couples it would require either sacramental matrimony or once again maintaining two separate domiciles.

For cohabiting homosexuals, sacramental matrimony is not now and will never be an option. Maintaining two separate domiciles is the only solution.

There is no acceptable Catholic “middle ground” – no possible compromise of the truth.

Hence, despite the appearances, homosexual “marriage” is a spiritual “dead end” – virtually guaranteed to have a  dismal future – no matter what Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, President Barack Obama, V.P. Joe Biden and others have to say about it.

Cohabiting heterosexual couples should either get married or stop living together – ASAP – for the good of their own  immortal souls.

This is not rocket science. It’s what used to be known as good old common sense!

An interesting article about the identity of the biblical Whore of Babylon, the Mark of the Beast, 666 and related matters

Protestants love to describe The Roman Catholic Church as “The Whore of Babylon” but who did St. John, the author of the Book of Revelation really mean was the Whore? St. John gave us several clues, If we read Revelation we notice that the clothing the Whore was wearing is the key to her identity…

The Protestant Heresy – by Hilaire Belloc

luther-wittenberg

Martin Luther and his 95 Theses at Wittenberg, Germany

What Was the Reformation?

The movement generally called “The Reformation” deserves a place apart in the story of the great heresies; and that for the following reasons:

1. It was not a particular movement but a general one, i.e., it did not propound a particular heresy which could be debated and exploded, condemned by the authority of the Church, as had hitherto been every other heresy or heretical movement. Nor did it, after the various heretical propositions had been condemned, set up (as had Mohammedanism or the Albigensian movement) a separate religion over against the old orthodoxy. Rather did it create a certain separate which we still call “Protestantism.” It produced indeed a crop of heresies, but not one heresy_and its characteristic was that all its heresies attained and prolonged a common savour: that which we call “Protestantism” today.

2. Though the immediate fruits of the Reformation decayed, as had those of many other heresies in the past, yet the disruption it had produced remained and the main principle_reaction against a united spiritual authority_so continued in vigour as both to break up our European civilization in the West and to launch at last a general doubt, spreading more and more widely. None of the older heresies did that, for they were each definite. Each had proposed to supplant or to rival the existing Catholic Church; but the Reformation movement proposed rather to dissolve the Catholic Church_and we know what measure success has been attained by that effort!

The most important thing about the Reformation is to understand it. Not only to follow the story of it stage by stage_a process always necessary to the understanding of any historical matter_but to grasp its essential nature.

On this last it is easy for modern people to go wrong, and especially modern people of the English-speaking world. The nations we English- speaking people know are, with the exception of Ireland, predominantly Protestant; and yet (with the exception of Great Britain and South Africa) they harbour large Catholic minorities.

In that English-speaking world (to which this present writing is addressed) there is full consciousness of what the Protestant spirit has been and what it has become in its present modification. Every Catholic who lives in that English-speaking world knows what is meant by the Protestant temper as he knows the taste of some familiar food or drink or the aspect of some familiar vegetation. In a less degree the large Protestant majorities_in Great Britain it is an overwhelming Protestant majority_have some idea of what the Catholic Church is. They know much less about us than we know about them. That is natural, because we proceed from older origins, because we are universal while they are regional and because we hold a definite intellectual philosophy whereas they possess rather an emotional and indefinite, though characteristic, spirit.

Still, though they know less about us than we know about them, they are aware of a distinction and they feel a sharp division between themselves and ourselves.

Successful Conversion Methods for Old Fashioned Catholic Proselytizers

This article appears to date from the 1950’s…

Many exemplary Catholics, people with plenty of ability and initiative, are unwilling to be members of the average parish society because they feel that the meeting is largely given up to routine details. Yet if they were pointed towards making convert contacts, the Holy Name Society, the Altar and Rosary, the Laymen’s Association and other parish organizations could be revitalized.

The more zealous members could be formed into groups to plan their work and report on it at the meetings, e.g., Census Teams, Visitation Teams, or just plain good neighbors who take every opportunity to bring the love of Christ to others. The work of the teams would am be a matter just between themselves and the priest; reports should be made to the organization so that everyone in it feels that he has a share and be encouraged to participate. Much will depend on the emphasis and inspiration for convert making given by the priest. The fuel is there but the spark that fires it must come from him.

If the attention of the people is constantly drawn to it, if they are guided and encouraged, they will make converts. That is what occurred in the cathedral parish of Denver, Colorado, which was among that pioneered Inquiry Classes in this country. Many Catholics brought inquiries to the classes every year. Father John A. O’Brien tells in his NCWC column how a husband and wife, themselves recent converts, brought thirty-six in one year.

They studied each one and tried to show him how the Faith would satisfy his particular need, his hunger for spiritual security in a cold and indifferent world.

To contact the millions who feel something lacking in their lives, Our Lord needs many more hands like those of this devoted couple. There are many of them to be found in every parish; they need only encouragement and training. The converts will come exactly in proportion to the number of contacts they make. That is the secret.

Survey says: Catholics hopeful that new Vatican survey will make things better. Just not sure how.

survey

While Vatican officials have made clear the survey is not a poll to help bishops shape church doctrine based on popular vote, it does mark an extraordinary departure from how bishops have prepared for previous synods to determine doctrine. At a recent gathering of America’s Catholic bishops in Baltimore, prelates grappled with how best to execute such an unheard-of request by the Dec. 31 deadline and whether they were correctly interpreting the pope’s intentions.

Editor’s note: How about a new version of the “Family Feud” TV show – based on the responses, with the Pope as host? It did wonders for the late Richard Dawson’s career. Maybe it can help the Church!

In Illinois, we just got what we were (evidently) praying for – and it’s not good!

hsmyahoo

by Doug Lawrence

Pat Quinn, the first homosexual Governor of Illinois, signed the same sex marriage bill into law, last week.

“How did things come to this?” I asked myself.

Then I remembered the seemingly innocuous little prayer that’s said before every Mass, at my local parish. That prayer covered a lot of ground. Come to think of it – I never really liked the way it sounded. Kind of “mealy-mouth”.

Now it was time for a closer look!

And there is was: “We pray for people of all nations. Fill their hearts with the desire to ensure justice and equality for all…”

As the sage rightly reminds us – be careful what you pray for – you just might get it!

There’s plenty of better charitable causes to support. Unfortunately, not many of them are Catholic, any more!

An interview with the second most important man in the Vatican – Rabbi Abraham Skorka

Pope_and_Skorka-350x234The Rabbi is on the left – next to the Pope

NEW YORK — It was September, not an easy time for a religious Jew to be traveling. The Jewish month of Tishrei was ending with its marathon of holy days. Kosher wine would be needed. There were Sabbath blessings to recite. Fortunately, Rabbi Abraham Skorka had a friend with the run of a hotel who arranged for kosher meals and said “amen” to the rabbi’s prayers.

Skorka has been talking about this trip ever since, in interviews and meetings with Jewish groups, for two reasons: The hotel was inside the Vatican, and the friend was Pope Francis.

Editor’s note: The content of this interview demonstrates the dangers of the way Pope Francis has thus far, chosen to run his papacy. Personal friendship is one thing. Inviting someone from an apostate non-Catholic religion to take up residence with the Pope, in the Vatican, for an extended period – especially during the beginning of a new administration – is a scandal and a sin.

What might be reasonably acceptable in a remote, South America backwater often doesn’t play very well on a world stage – nor should it. Did no one else think this was very strange, even for a “humble” pope?

The Pope’s handlers (Think this is “over the top”? Prove it!) should have realized this when they initially overplayed their “hand”- revealing way too much, way too soon. Barack Obama and his handlers suffered from a similar type of hubris. Liberal community organizer types with a pronounced leftist orientation evidently can’t seem to help it!

You’ve probably heard the term, “death by a thousand cuts.” For Catholics – at least those Catholics who are capable of understanding and recognizing what’s actually going on – it has so far, been “insult by a handful of outrageous interviews.” The pattern continues – and I have little doubt there’s much more to come.

Oy vey!

Worse than you thought: Obamacare Provides Unlimited Taxpayer Funding Of Abortion.

Every individual enrolled in a plan that is eligible for federal tax credits and includes coverage of abortion will be forced to pay an additional abortion premium of at least $12 per year with private dollars.

Obamacare mandates that insurance companies then “segregate” any federal affordability tax credits it receives from the individual premiums used to pay for abortions.

The law provides no opt-out for individuals or families who may want to buy a particular plan that fits their health needs but does not include abortion coverage.

Dangerous Games – “Point ’em Out, Knock ’em Out”

A game called “Point-em-out, Knock-em-out” has made its way to Lansing, and it’s exactly how it sounds. The game consists of someone being randomly targeted, then attacked.

It’s a game that has been growing with popularity on the internet, with teenagers filming themselves punching unsuspecting victims. Lansing had its first case of the game brought to light this summer, but it’s possible that it has been happening under the radar for months.

On February 26th a man waiting for his six-year-old daughter to be dropped off from school, had no idea he would be the city’s first reported victim.

The current lack of Catholic evangelization is due to the widespread post-Vatican II notion that almost everybody will be saved.

Far from a human race that is presumed innocent or essentially saved, the Council Fathers see a world in which salvation is neither assured nor easy.  It is a world in which, “very often,” rejection of Christ has been a reality, is still possible, and is a main reason for Christian missions.  Indeed, the Council also warned about the severe judgment falling on Catholics who do not persist in charity and faithfulness.

The Council’s “optimism,” Martin rightly notes, is about the possibility of salvation outside of the Church, not the probability that everybody inside or outside it will be saved.

The Council doesn’t give odds on this question or tell us whether Hell is densely populated or not, nor does Martin attempt to do so.  But he notes that the “very often” is attached to the negative possibility. In a chapter examining the scriptural references in LG 16 he demonstrates that this bad news is indeed biblical.

Editor’s note: It’s also due to the fact that since the end of Vatican II – priests, bishops – and even popes – have no longer been at all certain about the validity or applicability of the settled teachings of the Catholic Church – nor have they been unified and consistent in their efforts to pass along the full, complete and traditional Catholic faith to others. In fact, just the opposite has been true!

Oprah’s inexcusable, racist comments about mature white people and the United States

oprah

During an interview Friday on BBC promoting one of her movies, Winfrey argued that America was full of racists.

“There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism – and they just have to die,” she stated.

Winfrey went on to say the president is a victim of racism. “I think that there’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs – and that occurs in some cases, and maybe even many cases, because he’s African-American,” she said.

Editor’s note: For those of you who do not understand liberal-speak code: Oprah was speaking about the necessary demise of mature WHITE people. For those of you who may never have noticed – Oprah is (apparently) a black, female person.

California eliminates all regulations on abortions, including informed consent

While many states are tightening regulations and oversight of abortion clinics after the revelations of the “house of horrors” conditions in Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic in Philadelphia, a Planned Parenthood-promoted bill, AB 980, by Sacramento Assemblyman Richard Pan, a pediatrician, will require the California Department of Public Health to repeal all abortion service regulations in California “not later than July 1, 2014″.

Britain: The Francis effect is drawing Catholics back to church

haiti-christ-brings-hope

“This must be the place – but it’s not exactly how I remember it!”

Pope Francis has caused a surge in church attendance and confessions within the Catholic Church. This marks a turning point after decades of decline, the Sunday Times reports, referring to the results of a survey on Catholics across England and Wales.

In the eight months since Francis began his pontificate, British cathedrals “have seen a rise of about 20% in congregations, drawing in both new and lapsed members.” It goes on to add that over half the priests surveyed in Italy said they had noticed a rise in support for the Church.

The left-wing seminaries we call universities

A particularly dramatic recent example was a pastor who told me that he has three sons, all of whom have earned doctorates — from Stanford, Oxford, and Fordham. What parent wouldn’t be proud of such achievements by his or her children?

But the tone of his voice suggested more irony than pride. They are all leftists, he added wistfully.

“How do you get along?” I asked.

“We still talk,” he responded.

Needless to say, I was glad to hear that. But as the father of two sons, I readily admit that if they became leftists, while I would, of course, always love them, I would be deeply saddened. Parents, on the left or the right, religious or secular, want to pass on their core values to their children.

Practical instruction on the Holy Rosary: How to pray it, what it means, what you can expect to obtain, more.

rosary2

First, the history.  The Rosary was given by the Blessed Virgin herself to St. Dominic in ARSH 1214.  St. Dominic was having a terrible time combating heretics that were deeply embedded in the Church.  (D’oh!  Sound familiar??)  Long story short, she appeared to St. Dominic and told him what the Holy Trinity wanted done.  Her words were, “I want you to know that, in this kind of warfare, the battering ram has always been the Angelic Psalter which is the foundation stone of the New Testament. Therefore if you want to reach these hardened souls and win them over to God, preach my Psalter.”

The Angelic Salutation are the words of the angel Gabriel to Mary from Luke 1:28:  ”Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”

The rest of the prayer then quotes the words of Mary’s cousin Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, upon Mary’s arrival at her home to be with her through her miraculous post-menopausal pregnancy in Luke 1:42:  ”Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.”

The rest of the prayer asks Our Blessed Lord’s mother to pray for us to her Son now, and especially at the hour of our death.

Chicago’s Cardinal George warns of same-sex marriage ‘consequences’.

“The Pope was not speaking about approving gay marriage. To use his words against his teaching, as they were used on the floor of the State House of Representatives of November 5, is less than intellectually honest,” George writes.
