Today’s “Gem” from Bob Stanley’s “The Catholic Treasure Chest”: Purgatory, Fact or Fiction?

“You, therefore, must be perfect, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:48

It stands to reason that since GOD is perfect, then Heaven has to be a perfect place, and nothing imperfect can enter (Revelation 21:27). GOD will not join Himself to anything defiled. If a person dies with sins not sufficient for hell (the sin unto death, 1John 5:16-17), and has lesser sins to prevent entry into Heaven, then there has to be a third place in which to atone for them. This would be a temporary place, as stated in Matthew 5:25-26, “You shall not come out until you have paid the last penny”.

Come out of where?

After Adam’s sin, the gates of Heaven were closed, and no one was allowed to enter (John 3:13) until Jesus Christ redeemed the human race and opened the gates once again. Where were the spirits of Moses and Elias, who appeared and spoke with Jesus at the transfiguration (Matthew 17:3)? They could not have been in Heaven since it was closed, and they would have been lost had they been in hell. They had to have been in a third place. If there was a third place then, why not a third place now?

What about Lazarus? He was already dead four days (John 11:17) when Jesus arrived at his tomb. Where was his soul during those four days? It could not be heaven or hell for the same reasons as for Moses and Elias.

His soul had to have been in a third place.

Participating in a Catholic retreat or similar program lasting three days or more? A plenary indulgence can be yours!

The main purpose of an indulgence
is to reduce or eliminate

the necessity/duration of a stay in Purgatory, after death.

From the Catechism: An indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the action of the Church which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints. -CCC 1471

From the Official Manual of Indulgences
NORMS AND GRANTS
Apostolic Penitentiary

UNITED STATES CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS
Washington, DC

Re: SPIRITUAL EXERCISES AND MONTHLY RECOLLECTIONS

§1 A plenary indulgence is granted to the faithful
who spend at least three entire days in the spiritual exercises of a retreat.

§2 A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful
who take part in a month of recollection.

Subject to “the usual conditions” as specified in the Official Manual:
Make a good confession,
worthily receive holy communion,
pray for the Pope,
accomplish the indulgenced work,
(all) within the specified time period.
If attachment to sin exists, a partial indulgence may be obtained.

There are many other ways of obtaining plenary (complete)
or partial indulgences for yourself and/or for others
who have passed away.

Some examples:

Eucharistic Adoration for at least a half hour (conc. 7 § 1, 1°)
Eucharistic procession (conc. 7 § 1, 3°)
Family, day for consecration of (conc. 1)
First Communion (conc. 8 § 1, 1°)
Good Friday (conc. 13, 1°)
Holy Saturday (conc. 28 § 1)
Holy Thursday (conc. 7 § 1, 2°)
Rosary, Marian (conc. 17 § 1)
Sacred Scripture, reading or listening for at least a half hour (conc. 30)

So now we have this long-winded screed written by Vatican gas-bags telling us that mortal sins such as adultery, sodomy, fornication, contraception, idolatry, etc. aren’t really all that bad.

Of course that is false and we see that this mish-mash is sinful in and of itself, as it is chock-full of cooperation with mortal sin. I cannot think of a single document that has come from the Francis mockery of a papacy that hasn’t explicitly promoted mortal sin and/or heresy.

How can we know if it is a soul in purgatory causing mysterious activity in a house or if it is the work of the devil?

“If everything becomes silent when we begin praying, then it’s a soul in purgatory,” Fr. Lampert said.  “If it’s evil, things will become more turbulent because a demon is being tormented by the prayer.”

How Bob Stanley’s “The Catholic Treasure Chest” came to be hosted by Doug Lawrence at AskMeAboutGod.Org

by Doug Lawrence

Bob and I were Internet colleagues in the Catholic faith since the early 2000’s. We spoke on the telephone on only a few occasions, but we kept in regular communication, via email.

At some point, Bob mentioned that he was getting older and was concerned about one day, being unable to maintain The Catholic Treasure Chest, so I told him I would make regular backups of the site and should it ever go offline and I was unable to contact him, I would restore and maintain it.

Bob liked the idea, so that’s what we agreed to do.

With Bob’s permission, I had been distributing the Catholic Treasure Chest on CD, mailing copies to people all around the world (Internet service was often “spotty” back then) so most of the technical work was already done.

Bob mentioned it in his article, entitled “In Lieu of A Book”:

“I have received many requests to put this website into a book.
But, I sense a frustration in having to download and save each page
of this very large site.

It has taken me years and thousands of hours
to put it all together and I certainly would not relish the time
it would take to download it page by page, either.

Putting it all into a book is a good idea.
However the sticking point is my having the time to do it.
I simply cannot do it for that reason, among others.

However I have a great solution
that was suggested by a dear new-found friend.
He is a teacher and many of his students do not have a computer
that is online, in order to go and visit the site.

He asked my permission to put the whole website onto a cd-rom
and pass a CD to each of his pupils.

I thought that was a great idea
and wondered why I had not thought of it myself.
Of course I gave him permission and he sent me a copy
and it was just like visiting the site online,
but much faster than even DSL…”

I would often link to the Catholic Treasure Chest from my website, referencing many of Bob’s wonderful articles. So, when The Catholic Treasure Chest domain was taken over by an Indonesian gambling casino and much of the content became unreliable or unavailable, readers from far and wide emailed me, asking what had happened.

Unable to make contact with Bob, I assumed the worst and went to work, successfully salvaging and restoring the site.

Because the Internet domain had already been assumed and taken over by others, it was necessary to bring The Catholic Treasure Chest over to my askmeaboutgod.org domain. It should be “safe” here, for many years to come, as by design, my site should be able to continue on (God willing) long after I have passed away.

Meanwhile, readers from a host of different countries, all around the globe, are beginning to reconnect with Bob Stanley’s “The Catholic Treasure Chest” (as I respectfully refer to it.)

Bob had quite a following. I have received a good number of enthusiastic emails from readers who are very thankful that Bob Stanley’s “The Catholic Treasure Chest” is back.

I’m sure that Bob would agree that this is no mere, coincidence. Together, we prudently developed a simple, effective plan for succession. I consider it a grace to have been privileged to do the work. Praise God!

The world needs Bob Stanley’s “The Catholic Treasure Chest”. It has always been a unique and precious, irreplaceable Catholic information resource. People of faith instinctively recognize that fact.

Bob Stanley has passed away

Bob will be sorely missed. Even though he’s gone, his great work will carry on, as a blessing to the whole world.

There’s not very many people about whom that may be truly stated.

I have arranged for Bob to be remembered in daily Mass intentions,
until the end of time. Please pray a “Hail Mary” for the repose of his soul,
when you have the time.

JAWDROPPING FRAUD — Systemic Ballot Harvesting in Orlando Black Neighborhoods…

Just The News reports that the OECS investigation was launched after Cynthia Harris, a former candidate for Orange County Commissioner, filed a sworn affidavit with the Florida Secretary of State’s office. In her affidavit, Harris described a long-standing, systemic ballot-harvesting operation in the Orlando area.

“So what happens is, in our community, when absentee ballots are mailed, you, the candidate, or any political party can find out when the absentee ballots are mailed and to whom. What happens is these ballot harvesters, they know which batch has gone out, they go to the door and they ask you for your absentee ballot,” said Harris. “Well, in communities that don’t look like me [aka white communities], no one does this,” noted Harris, who is black. “But in our community, it’s kind of like an accepted practice that the man is coming by to pick up my absentee ballot, or the lady is coming to pick up my absentee ballot.”

Learned Jesuit advises non-Catholics: Don’t marry a Catholic!

(This pamphlet about Holy Matrimony and “mixed marriages” from the 1950’s, provides much “food for thought” plus practical as well as controversial advice.)

A number of years ago I got one of the smartest letters ever written to me.

‘I have just read your pamphlet, Marry Your Own, ran the very feminine script, ‘and I have broken my engagement. ‘ That pleased me, for the pamphlet was written to ward off as far as possible the unhappiness almost inevitable in mixed marriages. But the next sentence jolted me. ‘You see, I am a Methodist girl and I was engaged to marry a Catholic man. After reading your pamphlet, I was sure that I could not be happy married to a Catholic, so I have broken the engagement, and I am now going out to find me a fine young Methodist boy and marry him.’

My answer was brief and most sincere:

‘My dear young lady, I most heartily congratulate you. You have good sense. I take it for granted that you are a sincere Methodist. In that case, find yourself a Methodist and marry him.’

But I could have changed that advice to suit the type of religion: ‘If you are a Baptist, marry a Baptist; if you are a Unitarian marry a Unitarian; if you are Jewish, by all means marry a Jewish partner; if you are a Christian Scientist, marry a Christian Scientist; if you are an unbeliever, find yourself another unbeliever; and if you are an atheist, marry an atheist and practice your lack of religion together.’

Quas Primas: extracts from the encyclical on the feast of Christ the King

On 11 December 1925, Pope Pius XI wrote an apostolic letter to all the bishops of the world, proclaiming the last Sunday in October the feast of Christ the King, thus crowning the liturgical year with an eternal pledge of the reign of Jesus Christ in hearts and in society.

Evidently, Francis isn’t the only active idol worshiper in today’s Holy Catholic Church

Most “rapture” believers have things “bass-ackwards” (in more ways than one)

Some Christians think Jesus is saying that at the end of time, before the final tribulation, he’s going to secretly snatch believers up to himself (“one is taken”)—hence the term “rapture”—and leave behind (“one is left”) the wicked to experience the final push of evil wrought by the Antichrist, after which he will come and establish the new heaven and new earth.

This “pre-tribulation” rapture doctrine originated and was developed in the early to mid-1800s by John Nelson Darby, an early leader of a Fundamentalist movement that became known as Dispensationalism. This view has influenced the thinking of not only many Fundamentalist Christians, but also Catholics. Even Catholics don’t want to be left behind.

But, like I said above, this isn’t the right answer. You do want to be “left behind.” You don’t want to “taken.” (This isn’t a Liam Neeson movie!)

More public Pachamama idolatry with Francis, in the Vatican

Amazon Synod enthrones Mother Earth

On October 6, 2019, the Amazon Synod started with a Mass. After it ended, an informal group met with the Pope and brought to the floor of St. Peter’s Basilica – right in front of the Altar of the Confession, first row below – a canoe with a statue of a seated naked pregnant woman. It was a representation of the goddess Mother Earth, adored by Indians in South America under the name of Pachamama.

The group, including Pope Francis, walked forward in a chaotic “procession” carrying that goddess, enthroned in her canoe, to the building where the Amazon Synod meetings would take place.

Arriving at the Synod Assembly, the goddess was placed directly in front of the Pope’s table, where it remained in the sight of all those who are taking part in the sessions of the Bishops.

The 2012 election was probably rigged, too

Based on Barack Obama’s failed first term, the odds of him winning a second term were slim, to none.

Almost everybody could see it.

Yet somehow, Romney and Ryan managed to lose to Obama and Biden!

It wasn’t a miracle. I suggest that the 2012 election was rigged, but no one got “wind of it” until much later, in 2020. Thanks to Trump.

Only a handful of swing states were involved, but that’s all it required.

And that’s probably why Barack Obama always seems to be smirking, much like that scheming, corrupt FBI guy, Peter Strzok, who worked for him.

It’s time to hold elections to the same standard as Caesar’s wife: Completely pure and absolutely beyond reproach.

The real electorate demands it.

No more stalling. No more excuses. No more fraud. No more quirky election machines, phony ballots and/or “buggy” software. No more contrived court delays and dismissals. No more corrupt officials denying the whole mess even exists.

Trust, but verify. Every time. Every place. Every race. Then, prosecute the heck out of cheaters.

No exceptions!

…This is the Democrat party. Grooming today is standard normal “child’s care” in 10 years. That’s what they did with the gays back in the 90’s. They used the popular TV show Friends to normalize gay relationships. Remember, “Oh, he’s gay, not that there’s anything wrong with it.” And that’s why every show on broadcast television today features a gay character, yet less than 1% of the worlds population is actually gay. Even less are trans with mutilated genitals, but if you watch TV news it seems like every kid in America wants to cut their penis off or sew one on.

I think American society needs to get back to standard that everyone can agree upon.

  1. No one cares if you are gay. Stop pushing it on everyone.
  2. Stop grooming kids. If a person is trans, they can experiment on themselves when they are 21.
  3. Sex with any child is flat out wrong and you will go to jail.
  4. Soliciting, grooming, promoting, encouraging, any trans figurative lifestyle to anyone is wrong but especially to the youth.
  5. If you have a penis and stand to pee, you must use the men’s room. If you don’t have a penis and sit to pee, you must use the ladies room.
  6. XX chromosome people are only allowed to compete in XX games. XY chromosome people compete in XY games only. Unless it is a co-Ed and an open division.
  7. Confused people should not be allowed to teach, advise, mentor, parent or coach kids. Period.

Prophecies regarding the Anti-Christ, through the centuries, plus related events

St. Hippolytus (d 236): “The patriarch Jacob, expresses himself regarding Antichrist…as he prophesied respecting Judah, he also did with respect to his son Dan… ‘Let Dan be a serpent, sitting by the way, that bites the horse’s heel.’ And what other serpent is there, but the deceiver who was in the beginning… Jeremiah, as well, speaks in this manner: ‘From Dan we will hear the sound of the sharpness of his horses, at the sound of the neighing of his horses, the whole land trembled’ (Jeremiah 8:16). Furthermore, Moses says: ‘Dan is a lion’s whelp, and he will leap from Bashan’(Deut.33:22)….He is naming the tribe of Dan as the one where the accuser is destined to come forth.”

St. Methodius (d 311): “When the Son of Perdition appears, he will be of the tribe of Dan, according to the prophecy of Jacob… he will be an ordinary man of the tribe of Dan to which Judas Iscariot also belonged.”4 “He will be born in Chorazin, nourished in Bethsaida, and reign in Capernaum. Chorazin will rejoice because he was born in her, and Capernaum because he will have reigned in her. For this reason in the third Gospel, the Lord gave the following statement: ‘Woe to you, Chorazin, Woe to you, Bethsaida, woe to you, Capernaum–if you have risen up to heaven, you will descend to hell.’”

St. Jerome (340-420), Doctor of the Church: “Antichrist will be born near Babylon. He will win the support of many with gifts and money. He will sell himself to the devil, and thereafter will have no guardian angel or conscience.”

Pope St. Gregory the Great (540-604): “Before the birth of her child, the mother of the Antichrist will announce the advent of Messiah, who (she claims) will restore great prosperity to mankind.”

St. Bridget: “As Christ was born from the highest type of womanhood [Virgin] so Antichrist will be born from the lowest [prostitute]. He will be a child-wonder at birth. His mother will be an accursed woman, who will pretend to be well informed in spiritual things, and his father will be an accursed man, from the seed of whom the devil shall form his work.”
