Tom Roeser, Catholic, dead at 82

by Doug Lawrence I never met Tom Roeser, but through his extensive writings and his long, Chicago broadcast radio career, I felt like I did. Tom was a Catholic, a Republican, a conservative, a media personality, a family man, a scholar, and many other things. I read all his daily blog posts and also listened […]

Tom Roeser shines the light of day on Chicago Mayor Richie Daley, his “common ways” and corruption

The Squid, my name for the writhing, living, breathing Democratic party organism here which has tentacles into all facets of life…big business, organized labor, liberal media and our Roman Catholic chancery, also equipped with an ink sac used to cloud the media waters so as to hide its intentions… has been worried—but is no longer. […]

Tom Roeser on certain downtrodden minorities … and pro-lifers

…you have heard it said by Jefferson and Lincoln that all of us are equal. Not so. All minorities are more than equal—as are these members of the downtrodden: gays, lesbians, transgenders—but not to be given any separate recognition are the unborn whose supporters come close to violating the sacred tradition of separation of church […]

Tom Roeser on duplicitous bishops and corruption in the church

This Church I love and believe in has survived for 2,000 years because, as convert Bob Novak said, it is divine. Else how could it have managed through eras of bad, intemperate and sacrilegious popes all the while saints like Francis of Assisi and Thomas Aquinas blossomed in moral and spiritual life…and now is floundering […]

Tom Roeser Criticizes Milwaukee Archbishop Listecki for His Position On Madison, WI Union Stand-off.

CHICAGO — To the Most Rev. Jerome Listecki, archbishop of Milwaukee: What in the world possessed you to turn out a statement conveying the view of all the state’s bishops that comes down on the side of the amply well- paid union workers in Wisconsin? I write as a labor union member in good standing […]

Tom Roeser: Obama not invited to royal wedding because Queen wasn’t invited to D-Day ceremony.

Writing about the British Royals: What is there about Americans who feel their lives are incomplete unless they learn about these rascal liberal maleducated wastrels? The only good thing they did….and I imagine it was done collectively…was to nix our own royal, mysterious Half Breed African Prince to William and Kate’s wedding—suffice it for returning […]

Tom Roeser urges Congress to eliminate funding for PBS

It’s an outrage to see this station and its cast of liberal propagandists  mock Judeo-Christian values without the slightest  inclination to bring in another side—courtesy senior producer Mary Field….but doing it on public largesse is misuse of federal monies approximating secular sacrilege.      I for one will be terribly disappointed in the Republican House majority if […]

Roeser: Rahm Emanuel’s not Weird, Just a Squid pragmatist weasel born without a moral core.

The chemistry that tips the emotional lefty pool tables so the balls roll toward Obama caused Rahm Emanuel to get himself kicked out of the lunatic 3rd World insane asylum in the White House after he used 4-letter words to tell the incumbent to change his ways from the concept there is no patriotism but […]

Tom Roeser: Liberalism has been called by some a mental disorder but essentially it’s a spiritual illness.

Probably the most bitter disappointment to me has been the stealthy takeover of the Catholic church by liberal theologians. They influenced the appointment of liberal bishops (you have to try hard to exceed the mysterious Bernardin whose history is as masked by liberals in the Church as is Obama’s school grades and early life) under […]

Roeser: While not all homosexuals are same-sex pedophiles, all same-sex pedophiles are homosexuals.

Allen contrasts two views—Benedict’s and that of Dominican priest Thomas Doyle who has been studying the crisis for years.  Benedict is indubitably right.  He goes straight to the heart of the problem—in “priestly formation” i.e. the theology taught in seminaries and lays the blame where it belongs on the heretical dogma of relativism which by […]

Roeser: It’s high time for the Gay Lobby to come clean and acknowledge that what it seeks is not tolerance…which to an overwhelming degree it has and deserves …but approval…approval that can only come from those who forsake the Judeo Christian moral tradition.

In Genesis (19:1-11) and Leviticus (18:22, 20:13)  the word of God pronounces that homosexuality is condemned in the story of Sodom, that Paul inveighs against the practice in Corinthians (6:9), Romans (1:18-32) and in the first chapter of his first letter to Timothy. Some theological revisionists have said the passages pertain to other evils but […]

Tom Roeser Reports On Chicago CCHD Shenanigans, Archdiocesan Politics

… A terrible thing is happening: community groups are being asked….downright asked, mind you…whether they support abortion or non-traditional marriage.    Because if they don’t  they won’t get any Catholic money.  Terrible.  Well in this archdiocese where the tiller slips to-and-fro, it turns out that (Father) Just Call Me Larry Dowling’s auxiliary bishop is a liberal, […]

Tom Roeser claims the political battle in Delaware is just heating up … and has national significance

Christine O’Donnell is supposed to be a wacko, right? She made a  remark  in 1999 that she dabbled in witchcraft as a high school kid. Her opponent Chris Coons described himself as a “bearded Marxist” in a college newspaper column. Oh, says the liberal Democratic apologist Media Matters, Coons was only kidding and when he wrote […]

Tom Roeser’s thoughts about !@#$%! (Cussing)

“Do you know what that officious bastard wrote in The New York Times today? He tried to dress up research in embryonic stem cells as vital to saving lives when he knows—fully knows—that adult stem cells can do the job. You know what? That sonuvabitch simply glories in defending an act of snuffing out lives!” […]

Cardinal George and the Dragon: Can Chicago’s Catholic leader smite fire-breathing critic Tom Roeser?

Explaining itself on its home page, CCI (Catholic Citizens of Illinois) observes that “more and more, Catholics in public life are becoming indistinguishable from other Americans, with growing support for abortion, divorce, euthanasia, and other societal ills. Even worse, a veil of ignorance has fallen over Catholic America, obscuring Catholic lay people’s understanding of their […]

More from Tom Roeser on liberals, Cardinal George, the Lavender Priesthood, and free speech

Cracking down on free speech are favorite tactics of the Left. You read here yesterday that the Cardinal Archbishop of Chicago wrote to all members of an advisory board of a Catholic group which is not affiliated in any way with the archdiocese… urging them to use their influence to silence me in my personal […]

Cardinal George doesn’t seem to appreciate Tom Roeser’s frank commentary.

Dear Mr ______, I write to you because you are a member of the Advisory Board of Catholic Citizens of Illinois whose chairman is Mr. Thomas F. Roeser. Mr. Roeser has taken in recent years to writing essays that are filled with factual errors and misrepresentations about events in the Archdiocese of Chicago. His writing […]

Tom Roeser pulls no punches writing on Obamacare, the USCCB, and Cardinal George

(Thursday March 18th issue of the Wanderer) For many years, observers have felt that unfortunately the USCCB is a liberal left- wing political combine run by a politicized staff that is largely unsupervised by many of the bishops, and so far as Church control is concerned, it is all but rudderless. The current president of […]

Tom Roeser and the spirit of Fr. Ernie respond to certain Catholic commentators, politicians

Catholics bound by the moral law can agreeably participate in the secular political system where civil law may contradict the moral. But in no sense should the civil law intrude upon the conscience of the Catholic and require his compliance… nor frankly can the Catholic inflict the Church’s morals on the state beyond what is […]
