Kathleen Sebelius is the most corrupt and arrogant HHS secretary in history.

In reality, of course, Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats who infest Congress and the Obama administration constitute the most corrupt gang of grifters ever to have descended on Washington and the hapless American electorate.

The only real question is: Who is the worst?

Many would bestow this dubious honor on Pelosi herself. Others would favor her Senate counterpart, Harry Reid. More than a few would, of course, nominate Eric Holder. And still others would push the suit of President Obama for the “most corrupt” award. All are tough contenders, without a doubt, and each has certainly earned at least a dishonorable mention. Nonetheless, for my money, HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius wins the prize.

San Francisco Archdiocese finds making couples needlessly “jump through hoops” not conducive to church weddings

“There is a concern across the board from our priests, not just about the number of marriages, but as to the quality of marriage preparation — that has to be revisited,” said Msgr. James Tarantino, vicar for administration and moderator of the curia for the archdiocese.

Marriage preparation should be more welcoming to couples, he said. In addition, the decline in the number of church weddings “points to a deeper issue of people not being as well educated as to what a sacramental marriage means and how that is important in helping a marriage,” he said.

The drop in sacramental marriages in the archdiocese mirrors national trends. About 72 percent of all U.S adults were married in 1960 but by 2008 the figure was down to 52 percent, according to a 2010 Pew Research Institute report, “The Decline of Marriage and Rise of New Families.”

Msgr. Tarantino said a rise in cohabitation and rejection of the idea of traditional church weddings are factors in the drop. “Another factor is the way our system of marriage preparation works or doesn’t work. Sometimes it is not as conducive as it might be in showing hospitality and welcoming people to marry in church,” he said.

Editor’s note: Why do we need popes and bishops … when we have the impeccable Pew Research and John Jay folks, on which to rely … for the best advice that money can buy?

Very Scary: Father Sundborg, President of (Catholic) Seattle University doesn’t see a problem with ties to Planned Parenthood.

…there are a few clarifications that need to be made in terms of the purpose behind SFLA and CNS’s letter to Father Sundborg and comments from members of Seattle U’s Administration.

1. The article states that our “main concern with Planned Parenthood is that some of its locations provide abortions” is inaccurate. Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider and has been proven to protect rapists, racists and sex traffickers of minors. Planned Parenthood’s business is abortion and that permeates every clinic and not just “some.”

Whether or not “some” or all are providing abortions, this is an organization that completely disregards the dignity of the human person, and should not be supported by a Catholic university.

2. Seattle U cannot claim to support the Church’s position on the sanctity of life while supporting an organization that directly opposes that teaching.

Any connection with Planned Parenthood is a connection with abortion.
