Hundreds of Thousands of Pro-Lifers March for Life: Mourn 56 Million Abortions.

march2010enh

Hundreds of thousands of pro-life people turned out for the annual March for Life in Washington, braving cold temperatures to take a stand for the right to life of unborn children. While marchers mourned 41 years of legalized abortion, many sounded a hopeful theme for a pro-life future and think the decision will eventually be reversed.

The Roe v. Wade decision, handed down on January 22, 1973, overturned pro-life laws offering protection for unborn children in most states across the country, and made abortions legal and virtually unlimited. Almost 57 million unborn children have been killed in abortions since.

Seen on the web: In the “world” the pauper is a nobody, lower than everyone else, but in a Catholic Church he is just like everyone else and he gets to be surrounded by all the wealth of beauty that others experience every day.

Someone (Maybe Dorothy Day?) once said that all that lavishness was the great equalizer.  It didn’t matter if you were poor, orphaned, black, white, a leper…no matter who you were, what circumstances you came from, when you walked into a Catholic Church, you were experiencing what it felt to be a “King”.  Even a pauper could experience great art, music, etc.  In the “world” the pauper is a nobody, lower than everyone else, but in a Catholic Church he is just like everyone else and he gets to be surrounded by all the wealth of beauty that others experience every day.

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent his Son, made of a woman, made under the law: That he might redeem them who were under the law: that we might receive the adoption of sons.

And because you are sons, God hath sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying: Abba, Father.

Therefore, now he is not a servant, but a son. And if a son, an heir also through God.   (Galatians 4:4-7)

By virtue of our baptism, we become adopted sons and daughters of God … co-heirs with Jesus Christ to all that is good … on Earth and in Heaven … including the Catholic Church.

The richness of the Catholic Church properly reflects the richness of our faith … and also gives us some sense of the infinite beauty and Heavenly majesty of the one, true God … to whom we belong. – Doug

Homosexual adoptions victimize children

The pages of the New York Times this morning are all aflutter with a story extolling the skyrocketing increase in the number of gay couples who are adopting children.

This is a social disaster, a social tragedy of the first order, and is something no society that cares for its youngest and most vulnerable citizens would do.

Every homosexual adoption places a child in a home with a missing mother or father. No society that loves children and places their welfare ahead of the desires of narcissistic adults would ever do this.

Joliet Catholic Charities puts brakes on adoptions as civil unions begin

A letter from Catholic Charities in Joliet to the state does not mention the civil unions but does address the issue of same-sex couples.

“It is the religious practice of Catholic Charities not to place children with unmarried, cohabiting couples, whether same sex or opposite sex,” says the letter from Glenn Van Cura, executive director of Catholic Charities in Joliet.

Catholic Charities in Rockford quits adoption and foster care services due to IL civil unions law

“While we understand leaving this work will be very painful for our client families, employees, volunteers, donors and prayerful supporters, we can no longer contract with the state of Illinois whose laws would force us to participate in activity offensive to the moral teachings of the church — teachings which compel us to do this work in the first place,” said Frank Vonch, director of social services for the Diocese of Rockford, which includes Kane and McHenry counties.

The little known Divine Law that predates all others is also the key to our salvation in Christ.

From the Catechism:

407 The doctrine of original sin, closely connected with that of redemption by Christ, provides lucid discernment of man’s situation and activity in the world. By our first parents’ sin, the devil has acquired a certain domination over man, even though man remains free. Original sin entails “captivity under the power of him who thenceforth had the power of death, that is, the devil”. Ignorance of the fact that man has a wounded nature inclined to evil gives rise to serious errors in the areas of education, politics, social and morals.

So it was that Satan gained control over the whole world and certain dominion over man. The entire process was, in a technical sense, legal but it certainly wasn’t right. God wasn’t pleased, either. Here, we learn of Satan’s destiny:

Genesis 3:14 – 15 And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and beasts of the earth: upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

The most important part (for us, at least) is the last line, where God speaks of a woman; the seed (offspring) of the woman and the head of the serpent being crushed by the woman’s heel (many texts translate this verse as HE shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for HIS heel). Either way, the Catholic Church has always interpreted this verse to be God’s first promise of a Redeemer or Messiah. One who would come and restore all things; forgive sins, heal the rift between God and man, reinstate man’s dominion over the world and finally, put Satan in his place (hell) forever.

For a number of reasons, sending a Redeemer would not be easy, even for God. In fact, thousands of years would elapse before the exact time, place, and circumstances for Messiah would come. Complicating matters still further, only one person in the entire universe was qualified for the job.

Galatians 4:4 – 5 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent his Son, made of a woman, made under the law: That he might redeem them who were under the law: that we might receive the adoption of sons.

A Couple of Interesting Reader Comments

I received a couple of emails from Ed S. today. I thought they were definitely worth posting. Please take a look:

Is God Pro Choice?
All  religions and  most  people believe that God has a choice when supplies a soul at the conception of an embryo. Before the conception, God knows all the details of the couple who are doing the  sex act. Why then does he create a soul and  permit conception, knowing the child is unwanted?
We all know people that are not able to conceive. Nationwide, there are 200,000 families waiting to adopt a baby.
Could God, be connecting the dots? Could he, like in the academy award winning movie ‘Juno’, give the  pregnant woman a chance to answer the prayer of would be, adoptive parents?
The Government should help connect mothers of unwanted babies with parents who need babies.
Let’s make it mandatory that these woman be given a notice that people are waiting for her baby and will pay expenses. Then she and God could be in agreement with her choice.

Babies who are the product of rape
I met a young woman whose mom, when pregnant with her, went to an abortion clinic to get an abortion, but when  she  saw the dirty and depressing procedure rooms, she decided to have the baby and put her up for adoption (like Juno did, in the  academy award winning  movie.)
The daughter of that woman grew up and went to law school.
One day, when life issues came up in her law classes, she gave her testimony, which was met with indignance by her professor and many of her fellow students. She was even told that her mom should have followed through with the abortion! (You  would think that law school’s would have rules against bulling?)
When we put a face on “rape babies” the hollow argument for “choice” [the woman’s right to choose {WHAT?} the  death of a  beautiful, young person-to-be] The real face of “rape babies” needs to be seen. And the plot to exterminate them needs to be exposed.
Lets vote for pro life candidates, and ask them to subsidize adoption. Not abortion!
