JUNG REPLACES JESUS IN CATHOLIC SPIRITUALITY

Walk into a typical Catholic bookstore and browse in the “spirituality” section, and you’ll see the best-selling books of such popularizers of the Jung Cult as priests Basil Pennington, Richard Rohr, and Thomas Keating.

Read the listings for “spirituality” programs and retreats in many diocesan newspapers. You will see that programs on Jungian dream analysis, discovering the child within, contacting your “god/goddess,” or similar such Jungian therapy programs predominate, even though they have nothing to do with Catholic spirituality and are inherently antithetical to it.

Forty years ago, the great Catholic psychiatrist Karl Stern in <The Third Revolution> (Harcourt Brace & Co.. 1954), wrote that most Catholic scholars recognized that Jung and Catholicism are incompatible-irreconcilable-and he warned that the Jungian who begins viewing religion as existing on the same plane as psychology ends up viewing all religions as equally irrelevant.

“As a German philosopher friend of mine once remarked with a pun,” wrote Stern, “<Das gleich Gultige wird gleichgutig> (that which is equally relevant becomes irrelevant). The curtain of the temple is conjured away with an elegant flourish. The border between nature and grace exists no longer, and no longer are you mortally engaged. Matters of the spirit are part of a noncommittal therapeutic method; Jacob no longer wrestles with the angel in a horrible grip which leaves him forever limping -instead, he takes his daily hour of gymnastics.”

In the years since, however, Catholic scholars, priests, religious, and laity have gone over to Jung with the fervor of Athenians flocking to the Oracle at Delphi.

Two ill considered papal acts: 1) Pope Francis’ bowing to a Muslim queen; 2) JPII’s kissing of the Koran

Both send the wrong message, diminish the Catholic faith and show a fundamental lack of respect for Jesus Christ, his Church and the Holy Office of the papacy.  Similarly offensive are the Pope’s visits to Jewish synagogues and support for Zionist organizations and causes. Why? Because none of the above are considered part of the People of God and all are clearly anti-Christ and anti-Catholic, according to New Testament biblical standards – no matter how some choose to misinterpret the words of Nostre Aetate:

1 John 2:20-29 But you have the unction from the Holy One and know all things. (21) I have not written to you as to them that know not the truth, but as to them that know it: and that no lie is of the truth. (22) Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father and the Son. (23) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father. He that confesseth the Son hath the Father also.

(24) As for you, let that which you have heard from the beginning abide in you. If that abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning, you also shall abide in the Son and in the Father. (25) And this is the promise which he hath promised us, life everlasting. (26) These things have I written to you concerning them that seduce you.

(27) And as for you, let the unction, which you have received from him abide in you. And you have no need that any man teach you: but as his unction teacheth you of all things and is truth and is no lie. And as it hath taught you, abide in him. (28) And now, little children, abide in him, that when he shall appear we may have confidence and not be confounded by him at his coming. (29) If you know that he is just, know ye, that every one also who doth justice is born of him.

This new pope reminds me more and more of Barack Obama – and that’s not a good thing!

How Muslims interpret JPII kissing the Koran

The big Catholic charities have become nothing but conduits for transferring taxpayer dollars to the third world, often with the same agenda held by the population controllers running the U.S.

They can “sell” their evil much easier in Catholic countries by using a “Catholic” agency to do the dirty. And Catholic Relief Services has shown themselves happy to oblige.

Catholic Relief Services distributes abortifacients in Madagascar: on-the-ground investigation

Sad to say, you cannot trust most of the big Catholic charities: Cartholic Relief Services (CRS) is up to its neck in promoting the anti-life message in the third world. Catholic Charities (CC) scandals abound, and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) sends one third to one half of money collected to Alinsky organizing groups that do their darnedest to undermine the faith and elect politicians diametrically opposed to Catholic teaching. And how do the bishops respond to criticism of these horrendous abuses? They attack the messengers. Very sad.

CCHD 2011-2012 Grants Report

What follows is a listing of all 74 grantees found to be in violation of CCHD guidelines and Catholic moral teaching.  Each grantee is listed by diocese (in alphabetical order), along with codes to indicate the ways in which the grantees are in violation.  Each letter code following (DA) indicates ways in which the grantees supported abortion, homosexuality, birth control, or Marxism through direct action.  Each letter code following (CO) indicate the grantees indirect support through coalitions.  Each letter code following (LE) indicates the actions of the leadership of the organization, which violate Catholic moral teaching.

NOTE REGARDING DIOCESES NOT LISTED HERE: Most dioceses that take the CCHD collection only retain 25% of the collection money for local use.  The other 75% is sent to national CCHD, who then redistributes that collected money to organizations like those listed below.

The big lie of the Obama HHS debacle: 99% of Catholics use articificial contraception.

by Doug Lawrence

As if it actually mattered, which it does not, even if 100% of Catholic couples, in clear opposition to church teachings, used artificial birth control, there’s no way the numbers could actually add up to anything in the ninetieth percentile.

Relying on the remarkably creative, now you see it, now you don’t, Planned Parenthood/Guttwrencher standard for birth control/abortion statistics, only half of any Catholic couple is likely to be “using” (wearing, deploying, taking, having had surgery, etc.) birth control, at any given time … meaning that at worst, even if every couple employed artificial contraception, the effective number of specific “users” would be no more than 50 percent.

Finally, tens of millions of Catholics in the United States remain totally open to child-birth, rely on NFP, are homosexual, choose not to be sexually active, are too young or too old to conceive … or are just too ugly/ornery (you know who you are) to attract a mate … reducing the possible prevalence of Catholics using artificial contraceptives to no more than about 30 percent. Probably less!

Take that, you band of psycho-sexualized, commie, baby-killing, marxist, socialist-democrat, anti-Catholic Obama-Pelosi-Sebeliites!

Warren Buffett: pro-abort Anti-Christian plutocrat

To be specific, Buffett has given hundreds of millions over the years to anti-Catholic front groups like Catholics for Choice (formerly Catholics for a Free Choice) and its sister organization in Latin America, Catholics for the Right to Decide. In 2010, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation alone gave $759,822 to the former, and almost $1.7 million to the latter. These letter-head organizations wouldn’t exist if they depended on donations from members—they don’t have any—they exist because of the likes of Warren Buffett.

About half of Catholic Campaign for Human Development grant dollars went to left wing and anti-Catholic causes in 2011

Applicants for Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) awards must sign a Grant Agreement indicating that they will adhere to Catholic principles.  The CCHD website explains: “Applicant organizations must not participate in or promote activities that contradict the moral and social teachings of the Catholic Church and must in no way work against the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ priorities to defend human life and dignity, strengthen family life and the institution of marriage, and foster diversity. For example, applicant organizations that support or promote same-sex marriage, discrimination, capital punishment, abortion, euthanasia, or punitive measures towards immigrants are not eligible for CCHD funding.”

Despite this new, more rigorous selection procedure, CCHD grants continue to go to organizations – lots of organizations – that DO “participate in or promote activities that contradict the moral and social teachings of the Catholic Church” (see CCHD 2011, part 1-3).

Catholic Campaign for Human Development “all about power, grassroots organizing, and left-wing political influence.”

“When the November 19-20 offering comes around, do not give to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, because almost none of the grantees provide any direct help to people in need of food, shelter, clothing, or medicine. Rather, they are all about power, grassroots organizing, and left-wing political influence.”

Viguerie cited a new report from the American Life League, online at http://tinyurl.com/cd7ng4l, which found that 14 of the 218 organizations funded by CCHD are directly involved in activities contrary to Catholic teaching by promoting abortion, birth control, homosexuality, or Marxism and an additional 40 organizations are actively involved in coalitions that promote such activities.

Viguerie said this problem was not new and there was an internal effort to revamp the CCHD grant process, but the situation has worsened.

“I’m sorry to report that, rather than reduce the number of grantees involved in left-wing politics and activities contrary to Church teachings, the number has actually increased,” he said.

Trio of journalists concoct a totally biased, anti-Catholic screed over Cardinal Law’s (private) 80th birthday dinner.

If you read the by-line, you’ll see that it took three (3) people to write a dinky little (around 12 paragraphs) article about disgraced Cardinal Law’s 80th birthday dinner.

Beginning with the headline, the three didn’t miss a single opportunity to trash Law, the Catholic Church, and anyone who might have attended.

The truth certainly didn’t stop them.

Now, I’m no fan of the Cardinal’s. But from headline … to the subtle inference that there’s something wrong with a cleric sharing a ride with a couple of nuns … to the writer’s deliberate exaggeration of the size, scope, and sponsorship of the affair … the writers … I refuse to call them journalists … should be ashamed of themselves!

This was small, private, 80th birthday dinner. Not an official Catholic Church function. Yet the writers would love for you to get the totally mistaken impression that the Catholic Church itself is going all out to honor a disgraced cleric.

And that’s simply not true!

Here’s the link to the story.

Ongoing church scandal: 24% of organizations funded by USCCB’s CCHD program still involved in anti-Catholic work.

The report documents that, of the 218 organizations funded by CCHD, 14 are directly involved in activities contrary to Church teaching and 40 are actively involved in coalitions with such activities. Thus, 54 groups (24%) funded by CCHD are involved in anti-Catholic work.

The number, and percentage, of offending organizations has actually INCREASED in the last year —from 51 to 54 groups and from 21% to 24%.

These 54 organizations received a total of $1,863,000 of the $7,608,000 distributed in CCHD grants in 2010-2011.

My buddy Andy leaves a comment on Archbishop Timothy Dolan’s blog

Andy’s August 25th comment:

As a CCD instructor of 20+ years, a Columbus Knight, and a generally all around good guy, it is so frustrating, Your Excellency … so frustrating to be on the losing side … and I say this as a firm believer that the gates of hell will not prevail.

There’s about 70,000,000 Catholics in our country and we have to endure the most anti Catholic government in American history … and yes … I include the Know Nothings and the Nativist days of our history.

It’s so frustrating that in the days of leaders such as Spellman, Sheen and many others, too numerous to name, as well as Protestant leaders … to watch our American government become so anti Christian.

They would have never DARED to do the things they do today, what with homosexual marriages, the slaughter of the innocents in the evil sacrament of abortion, the challenges to everything Christian we hear about everyday, including public displays of Christmas, Crucifixes, the 10 Commandments and any public mention of our Lord and other attacks on our faith, had these leaders been around.

Our leaders have failed us miserably over the last 50-60 years. We have become a great fund raising institution, but have sold our souls for mammon.

Our leaders have sold out
our Lord Jesus Christ,
and His Church.

If not for immigration from south of the border we would be hanging by a thread. Our bishop’s conference is partly responsible for electing this anti Catholic government, for getting health care that includes infanticide, homosexual marriage, and now forced contraception, through the same health care program. Our bishops said nothing to defeat the party of death (as Cardinal Raymond Burke called it) and now we reap the whirlwind.

You, Archbishop have been chosen by the Holy Spirit Himself to turn this around and I see nothing but another politician who at times shines, but too many times falls into the trap of modernist, secularist thought.

I pray that you open your eyes wider, Your Excellency. As the leader of the USCCB you are in a unique position to turn this around. You will be persecuted, funds will disappear, some of your own flock will abandon you ,but you must persevere. You must speak louder and clearer, for all of us. You must enlist the very people who will stand shoulder to shoulder with you, like the Catholic League, Father Benedict Groeschel, Scott Hahn, Larry Douglas, Bob Stanley, and many many others, who stand up for our beloved Church, no matter what the elitists think.

We are many. We wait for a true leader who will intimidate government officials, as was done in the past, and not cower before them.

I pray for your courage and perseverance. We need you more than ever. Lead us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Voris takes issue with some lyrics of the hymn: “Amazing Grace” – and he’s right.

The 2nd verse of Amazing Grace proposes that faith results in grace … rather than the other way around … and that’s totally wrong.

God first provides all the necessary grace. Our willing cooperation with that grace encourages (in us) the development of the cardinal virtues of faith, hope, and charity. From there, things just get better and better!

This is the Catholic position, and it’s absolutely true.

Amazing Grace subtly introduces Protestant doctrine into our Catholic worship, so Catholics in the know, who otherwise happen to like the popular hymn, should (at a minimum) simply avoid singing the lyrics of the 2nd verse.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed. (Heresy)

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we’ve been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun.

Is Barack Obama the most anti-Catholic American president in living memory?

…across the whole spectrum of contemporary moral issues, he is passionately committed to a series of views which run directly contrary to those of the Church. All this has caused at least one Catholic bishop (there are probably others) to call him anti-Catholic.

As a Senator, he supported sex education, to be provided by Planned Parenthood, to children of five years old.

He consistently voted for abortion, including partial birth abortion.

He voted (twice) against Bills prohibiting public funding of abortions; he voted in favour of expanding embryonic stem cell research; he voted against notifying parents of minors who had undergone out-of-state abortions; he voted for a proposal to vote $100,000,000 for the funding of sex-education and contraceptives (including abortifacients) for teenagers; he opposed the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act” on the Senate floor and in 2003 killed the bill in committee.

Why Barack Obama has to be seen as an enemy of the Catholic Church

Is Barack Obama the most anti-Catholic American president in living memory?

I don’t mean, of course, that he has openly attacked the Church (though it was noted that, at his inauguration as president, contrary to normal practice there was among the clergy invited to attend not one single Catholic, though he made a point of inviting the controversial — because openly and actively homosexual — Episcopalian (i.e. Anglican) bishop, Gene Robinson).

What I mean, though, is that across the whole spectrum of contemporary moral issues, he is passionately committed to a series of views which run directly contrary to those of the Church. All this has caused at least one Catholic bishop (there are probably others) to call him anti-Catholic.

This Week’s Ask Alice: Important things to keep in mind when visiting non-Catholic websites.

Send A Question To Alice

She’ll answer as many questions as possible,
right here, every Thursday.

Email responses will also be provided, as time permits.

Jola Writes: This site, http://www.gotquestions.org, has some interesting subjects, particularly on Catholic things, like going to confession. It may inspire you, possibly?  They seem to have an answer for everything !!!

Alice Answers: “GotQuestions.org” is a Protestant website. Its homepage explains that the statements about Catholicism were written by FORMER Catholics. Consequently, the opinions of these lapsed Catholic volunteers are not consistent with authentic Catholic beliefs, teachings and practices … particularly about the Sacrament of Penance … and they reflect an often subtle, yet consistent, anti-Catholic bias on most other things, as well.

Catholics must confess their sins to a priest because Jesus instituted the sacrament of Penance, which gave His apostles (and their duly ordained successors) the power to forgive sins: “If you forgive men’s sins, they are forgiven them; if you hold them bound, they are held bound.” (John 20:23)

Jesus also gave priests the authority to reconcile sinners with the Church: “All this has been done by God, who has reconciled himself to us through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18)

The apostles were our first priests. Jesus instituted the sacraments of Holy Orders (the priesthood) and Holy Eucharist on Holy Thursday, at the Last Supper.

Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? Then why does the Protestant website you cited, deny the need to confess one’s sins to a priest?

Most Protestants do not believe in an ordained priesthood, nor do they believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Our Catholic religion is the oldest and ONLY Christian Church that was ever personally founded by Jesus Christ, while he still walked the earth, some 2000 years ago.

The oldest Protestant denomination was founded 1517 years later by Martin Luther, an excommunicated priest who broke away from the Catholic Church, to start his own religion.

Methodists, Baptists and Presbyterians are splinter groups that broke away from the Lutheran religion, while Catholicism is the only religion that maintains an unbroken line all the way back to Jesus Christ. This is known as “apostolic succession”, while the divine truths that have been faithfully handed down to us Catholics from Jesus and the apostles, are known as “the sacred deposit of faith”.

Only Catholics can trace our faith directly to Jesus Christ, who appointed St. Peter as His earthly successor, the Pope. By contrast, Martin Luther, John Wesley, John Smyth and John Knox are founders of modern, novel, Protestant religions, which do not recognize the Catholic hierarchy of the Pope, bishops and priests, and which also deny or misconstrue many other eternal, Christian truths.

Since Protestants do not have ordained priests, they also reject previously mentioned Biblical passages about confessing sins to a priest (as well as a host of other things.) In short, they simply choose to interpret the Scriptures differently than Catholics, based on purely personal beliefs and feelings, a state which is manifest today by many thousands of different denominations.

Meanwhile, in spite of recent difficulties, Catholics continue to confess one creed, and faithfully participate in the one, holy, universal and apostolic church of Jesus Christ. Why? St. Peter probably explained it best:  “And Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68)

We are called to love our Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ, with whom we one day hope to be united in Heaven. Until then, we probably shouldn’t waste too much time arguing over doctrinal differences, but instead, spend each day focused on loving one another.

We should also be eternally grateful that our Catholic Church contains the fullest possible measure of all God’s grace and truth.

Jola, you were wise in choosing this authentically Catholic website, “Ask Me About God” to answer your question.

In Christ’s Love,

Alice

U.K. Catholic convert: The Catholic Church is a “bulwark” in the defense of Christian civilization against secularism.

London, England, Sep 15, 2010 / 08:19 am (CNA).- Belfast-born author and journalist Leo McKinstry has said an anti-Catholic mood before the papal visit to the U.K. is comparable to the sectarianism of Northern Ireland. He blamed the antagonism upon the “politically correct spirit of our age” which emphasizes moral relativism and self-gratification.

McKinstry, a conservative who has written several books, announced his own impending conversion to Catholicism in The Daily Mail on Tuesday. He told how he had a sudden insight into religion in a Venetian chapel when he realized that the “poetry and symbolism” of Catholic ritual are metaphorical devices to evoke a spiritual reaction.

His conversion might seem “extraordinary” because he was raised as a Protestant in Ulster. However, his conversion also runs counter to the “aggressively secular, anti-Christian” nature of modern Britain where the Catholic Church is believed to be “outmoded, reactionary, irrelevant and superstitious.”

“This anti-Catholic mood has been at its most palpable in the run-up to Pope Benedict’s state visit this week, much of it led by militant atheists who, in the name of tolerance, have become utterly intolerant of manifestations of traditional Christian faith,” McKinstry wrote.

He added that he sees a similarity between Northern Ireland sectarianism and anti-papal feeling in Britain today. The Protestant minister Rev. Ian Paisley’s announcement of a demonstration against Pope Benedict’s visit to Glasgow is an action “no different from the noisy army of frenzied secularists,” McKinstry remarked.

Atheist polemicist Richard Dawkins has described the Pope as “a leering old villain in a frock,” while the author Claire Rayner has declared she has never felt “such animus against any individual as I do against this creature.”

“His views are so disgusting, so repellent and so hugely damaging to the rest of us that the only thing to do is to get rid of him,” Rayner has commented.

In McKinstry’s view, these opinions are “alarming but hardly surprising” in a society where Catholicism is “marginalized and despised.”

Atheist Journalist: Priestly abuse claims have been wildly exagerrated

A fascinating article today by the atheist Left-wing columnist Brendan O’Neill, editor of spiked, rubbishing claims that thousands of children were “raped by the Catholic Church’s army of paedophile priests”. Here’s an extract:

Were 10,000 children in America and thousands more in Ireland really raped by Catholic priests? In a word, no. Instead, what has happened is that in the increasingly caliginous, almost Inquisitorial mindset of sections of the New Atheist anti-pope lobby, every allegation of abuse against a Catholic priest … has been lumped together under the heading of ‘rape’, and every allegation has been described as an actual proven ‘rape’ regardless of whether it resulted in a legal trial, never mind a conviction.

The term ‘paedophile priest’ has become such a part of everyday cultural lingo that most people, when they read in last week’s relatively respectable UK Independent that ‘over 10,000 children have come forward to say they were raped [by Catholic priests]’, would probably think, ‘Yeah, that’s possible’. But it isn’t true.

“Britain, and in particular London, has been and is the geopolitical epicentre of the culture of death.”

Senior Catholic Edmund Adamus blames UK’s ‘moral wasteland’ on equal rights.

A leading adviser to the Archbishop of Westminster has blamed abortion and gay rights for turning Britain into a “selfish, hedonistic wasteland” which has become “the geopolitical epicentre of the culture of death”.

Edmund Adamus, director of pastoral affairs at the diocese of Westminster and an adviser to Archbishop Vincent Nichols, said Parliament had turned Britain into a country which is more culturally anti-Catholic than nations where Christians are violently persecuted such as Saudi Arabia, China and Pakistan.

His comments, made with only weeks to go before Pope Benedict XVI’s historic state visit to Britain, will cause embarrassment between organisers of the visit and government officials, because they reveal how some members of the Church’s hierarchy believe that the pontiff is travelling to a hostile and anti-Catholic country.
