Smith: “President Obama is the abortion president. If he gets in for four more years he’ll be untethered.”

“Look at the stand Obama took on the threat to withdraw funding for the International Planned Parenthood Federation from the U.S. budget,” Smith remarked. “He said, ‘I’ll shut down the government before I don’t fund Planned Parenthood.’ So his priorities couldn’t have been clearer. His priority will be to fund all pro-abortion, non-governmental organizations to the max.”

Abortion lobby powers the Democratic party money machine

The abortion lobby spends about $40 million each election to help Democrats. EMILY’s List, dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women, operates a political action committee (which can directly fund candidates), a 527 committee (which can run only “issue ads”), and a so-called SuperPAC (which use media to support or oppose candidates). In each of the past three election cycles, the group’s PAC and 527 have both been in the top four of those supporting Democrats. The PAC has spent $82 million in that period, while the 527 has spent $35 million, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics. In 2010, the group created a SuperPAC, which spent $3.6 million, making it the fifth biggest such group in the country.

More important, however, may be the social dynamics among wealthy liberals who make up the Democrats’ fundraising network. Everywhere you see Obama and his party raising money, you see an abortion activist playing a lead role.

Finally! Charges dropped against anti-abortion Notre Dame commencement protesters.

Charges have been dropped against 94 protesters arrested at Notre Dame two years ago.

The protesters, who thought President Barack Obama shouldn’t be allowed to speak at the Roman Catholic university’s commencement because of his support of abortion rights and embryonic stem-cell research, faced trespassing charges from events leading up to the speech. They were denied entry to campus, but later arrested when they wouldn’t leave.

Obama on Supreme Court Nominee: There will be a “litmus test” and there won’t be a “litmus test”.

President Barack Obama, treading carefully in the explosive arena of abortion and the Supreme Court, said Wednesday he will choose a nominee who pays heed to the rights of women and the privacy of their bodies. Yet he said he won’t enforce any abortion rights “litmus tests.” Obama said it is “very important to me” that his court choice take women’s rights into account in interpreting the Constitution, his most expansive comments yet about how a woman’s right to choose will factor into his decision. – Associated Press (AP)

Obama nominee Dawn Johnsen is a rabid leftist, pro-abort

According to Johnsen:

Abortion restrictions ‘reduce pregnant women to no more than fetal containers.’

The argument that women who become pregnant have in some sense consented to the pregnancy belies reality… and others who are the inevitable losers in the contraceptive lottery no more ‘consent’ to pregnancy than pedestrians ‘consent’ to being struck by drunk drivers.

The experience [of abortion] is no longer traumatic; the response of most women to the experience is relief.

Report: Obama’s nominations neither moderate nor left of center, but radical.

Mathew Staver, the founder of Liberty Counsel and the Dean of Liberty University School of Law, commented on the new report.

“The list of individuals, their comments, and backgrounds demonstrates that President Obama uses a radical ideological litmus test to select his nominees, which clearly takes preference over experience or qualifications,” he said.

“Obama’s nominations are neither moderate nor merely left of center. They can best be described as radical. They are clearly out of touch with all but a radical fringe. Obama’s pattern of choosing radical ideologues raises serious concern about the competency of the government,” he concluded.
