PBS/Frontline “Secrets of the Vatican” show indicts Milwaukee Archdiocese and Cardinal Dolan, but never mentions corrupt homosexual Archbishop Rembert Weakland

Liberals never indict other liberals.

Never!

Even though Arbp.Weakland caused

scandalous mess.

Editor’s note: I’m no fan of Cardinal Dolan, but he got stuck cleaning up Weakland’s mess and deserved better treatment from Frontline.

Catholic interfaith efforts toward Muslims: naive, self-defeating, suicidal?

IslamMoon

…New York’s Timothy Cardinal Dolan paid a visit last summer to the Albanian Islamic Cultural Center in Tompkinsville on Staten Island, where he met with a large group of Muslim leaders. As is often the case when Catholic prelates meet with Muslims, his theme was the common ground shared by the two faiths. Cardinal Dolan told his Islamic audience, “You love God, we love God, and he is the same God,” and he thanked them “for making me feel like a friend and a member of a family.” He went on to tell them how much they share in common with Catholics: “Your love of marriage and family, your love of children and babies, your love of freedom — religious freedom particularly — your defense of life, your desire for harmony and unity and your care for others, your care for God’s creation and your care for those who are in need.”

Perhaps this is true of the Muslims of Tompkinsville, but unfortunately the cardinal’s words will be taken as an endorsement of Islam in general. I say “unfortunately” because what he says about the common values and beliefs of Muslims and Catholics is highly misleading.

Pro-life leaders urge caution, while Pope, Cardinal Dolan praise controversial Nelson Mandela

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, December 6, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The death of South African former President Nelson ‘Madiba’ Rolihlahla Mandela on Thursday has led to an outpouring of glowing praise for the man most known for ending apartheid – a system of racial segregation.

However, pro-life leaders have warned that praise from Christian leaders is inappropriate given Mandela’s role in bringing abortion-on-demand and homosexual “marriage” to South Africa.

According to official statistics, nearly a million unborn children have been killed in South Africa since President Mandela signed legislation in 1996 permitting abortion on demand two years after taking office. Same-sex ‘marriage’ was legalized in 2006, with Mandela having supported it long before its passage.

Catholics Criticize Cardinal Dolan for Lamenting That Catholics Could’ve Been ‘Cheerleaders’ for Obamacare.

“How dare he say that Catholics should be ‘cheerleaders’ of Obamacare,” Judie Brown, president of the American Life League (ALL), told CNSNews.com. “He’s a pathetic example of a shepherd of the Catholic Church.”

If the former chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and his fellow bishops had spoken out against the “total opposition to Catholic teaching” by prominent Catholics in the Obama administration like Vice President Joe Biden and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and united their flock against the passage of Obamacare, they would not have to deal with the contraceptive mandate now, Brown pointed out.

“[Dolan] is a media darling,” she added. “They promote him as the preeminent Catholic speaker in the U.S. because they know what he’s saying suits their agenda, not what the Church teaches.

Court upholds Cardinal Dolan’s segregation of $55M Milwaukee Archdiocese cemetery fund.

In issuing the ruling Monday, U.S. District Judge Rudolph T. Randa said including the funds would violate free exercise of religion under the First Amendment and a 1993 law aimed at protecting religious freedom. Randa cited the Catholic belief in the resurrection, which teaches that the body ultimately reunites with the soul, and the role of Catholic cemeteries in the exercise of that belief under canon law.

“The sacred nature of Catholic cemeteries – and compliance with the church’s historical and religious traditions and mandates requiring their perpetual care – are understood as a fundamental exercise of this core belief,” said Randa in overturning an earlier decision by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Susan V. Kelley.

The decision was a major victory for the archdiocese, and appears to eliminate one of the last large assets available to sex abuse victims who have filed claims in the bankruptcy.

Why hasn’t Cardinal Dolan fired CCHD Director Ralph McCloud for his scandalous role in the Wendy Davis/Texas abortion bill affair?

One must ask how it is possible that McCloud deserves any position in the USCCB, least of all a position as director of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development where he is supposed to be a leader in social justice. The  mission statement of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development is this: “The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is an instrument of the Catholic Church working to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ, … to bring good news to the poor   … release to captives    … sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free.’ (Luke 4:18)” It may be a newsflash at the CCHD, but killing the innocent unborn is not part of the mission of Jesus Christ!

Is there not any other Catholic in the United States whose organizational and management skills meet or exceed that of Ralph McCloud? Is there not another Catholic in America whose personal political actions do not contradict the moral teachings of the Catholic Church? In short, is there not another Catholic in this country who would not be an ethical embarrassment and scandal to the Catholic Church and its members? (Answers: Yes. Yes. Yes.)

It is important to stress again that McCloud’s very public and effective support of the abortion supporting Wendy Davis occurred while he was an employee on the payroll of the Catholic bishops in a job that required him to promote justice and dignity for all human life! Put another way, while his fellow Catholics were praying and working and giving their hard earned money to their bishops to promote justice, including wiping out abortion, Ralph McCloud was out and about supporting an abortion mongering politician. And it is not that the Catholic bishops did not or do not know about McCloud’s public support of Davis. They did at the time and they do now, but do not seem to care.

So if you might wonder why Senator Wendy Davis, the courageous champion of the killing of unborn children at any time in the womb for any reason, even has a seat in the Texas senate where she has a position to  effectively promote the culture of death, think of Ralph McCloud and the Catholic bishops of the United States who employ him as director of their Catholic Campaign for Human Development

As my late mother would say: Doesn’t that beat all you’ve ever heard?

Cardinal Dolan waxes ecumenical at NY mosque: “You love God, we love God and he is the same God.”

Cardinal Dolan stressed that Catholics and Muslims have a mutual love of the United States and of the religious freedom that this country affords, especially the ability to meet with people of different beliefs that would not be possible in some other nations.

“Your love of marriage and family, your love of children and babies, your love of freedom — religious freedom particularly– your defense of life, your desire for harmony and unity and your care for others, your care for God’s creation and your care for those who are in need,” the cardinal said, were Islamic values also shared by Catholics and areas where there could be mutual cooperation.

He likened Muslims to earlier waves of Roman Catholic immigrants who some 150 years ago faced the same challenge of “how to become loyal, responsible, patriotic Americans without losing their faith.”

Editor’s note – According to the Catechism:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”330 LG 16; cf. NA 3.

*****

This passage appears to place the Muslims in the non-Christian “first place” – superior even to the Jews. It also rather naively takes Muslim claims at face value – rather than properly considering the weight of 14 centuries of historical evidence – much of it to the contrary.

Like the Cardinal, the Catholic Catechism appears to be politically correct, to the liberal extreme. Barack Obama himself couldn’t have said all this any better!

Cardinal Dolan can’t just laugh this one off.

Cardinal Dolan Has Taught Us A Few Important Things In The Last Few Weeks. In the last few weeks Cardinal Dolan, through his spokesman Joseph Zwilling, has been doing a lot of teaching by word and deed.

His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, has let the Church know pro-abortion New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is a Catholic in good standing.

The world has also found out the Archdiocese of New York is paying for abortions and contraception for thousands of its employees.

The Cardinals spokesman has rather heartlessly described the abortions and contraception the Archdiocese provides as “services” and excused the Archdiocese paying the bills for these “services” because they write the checks “under protest.”

We have many lessons we can learn from these situations.

Editor’s note: Someone better take a close look at what’s going on in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and other similar sized urban areas. This church scandal is just beginning to break!

Just days before Pentecost Sunday, Cardinal Dolan finally “wises up”. Hires professional spokesperson.

Murphy’s father, Hugh McGowan, said authorities told him that she died trying to protect her young pupils. Her body was found covering a group of children’s bodies as if to shield them, McGowan said.

Cardinal Dolan’s Message: Sorry, Judy Brown … You’re No Barack Obama!

Just yesterday, the Al Smith Dinner, which has been the focus of many efforts at American Life League in our quest to encourage Cardinal Timothy Dolan to disinvite President Barack Obama, took place with the totally pro-abortion president attending and in excellent humor—as was the cardinal.

In his defense of the invitation, the cardinal wrote in his blog, “In the end, I’m encouraged by the example of Jesus, who was blistered by his critics for dining with those some considered sinners; and by the recognition that, if I only sat down with people who agreed with me, and I with them, or with those who were saints, I’d be taking all my meals alone.”

The cardinal apparently abandoned his former rules for choosing dining companions. I say that with all due respect because his statement takes me back a few years to the annual Pro-Life Wisconsin banquet which, in 2009, was scheduled for October 3. I had been invited to be the keynote speaker. Then-Archbishop of Milwaukee, Timothy Dolan, had been invited to sit at the head table with me as well as members of the Pro-Life Wisconsin board. He was asked to offer the opening prayer and reflection. When the archbishop discovered that I was the keynote speaker, he sent a letter to Pro-Life Wisconsin president Peggy Hamill stating that he had to decline the invitation to attend the banquet because Judie Brown was involved in the public castigation of bishops!

Personally, as I look at what is occurring today regarding the Obama situation, I find this troubling to say the least.

More Scandals: Long List of Prominent New York Catholics Support Pro Abortion Politicians.

…Turns out that many board members (former NBC boss Robert Wright, developer John Zuccotti, moneyman Peter Kiernan III) of the Smith Foundation are well-heeled, big-time supporters of pro-abortion Democratic lawmakers. This includes good old Al Smith IV, the foundation’s chairman. Records at the Federal Election Commission and OpenSecrets.org show that over the years he has rained campaign cash on every Schumer, Rodham, Clinton, Kerry, Dodd, and Kennedy he could find.

My favorite: On June 28, 2007, Smith contributed $500 to the PAC run by ultra pro-abortion Democratic congressman Jerry Nadler, listing on the FEC donation record that his occupation was chairman of St. Vincent’s Hospital. How nice: a Catholic hospital bigwig bankrolling an abortion zealot.

So it should come as no surprise that this week’s affair will try to help Barry pull one out.

Cardinal Dolan prays for all the stuff that was left out of the DNC

The full text of the prayer appears below:

With a “firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence,” let us close this convention by praying for this land that we so cherish and love:

Let us Pray.

Almighty God, father of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, revealed to us so powerfully in your Son, Jesus Christ, we thank you for showering your blessings upon this our beloved nation. Bless all here present, and all across this great land, who work hard for the day when a greater portion of your justice, and a more ample measure of your care for the poor and suffering, may prevail in these United States. Help us to see that a society’s greatness is found above all in the respect it shows for the weakest and neediest among us.

We beseech you, almighty God to shed your grace on this noble experiment in ordered liberty, which began with the confident assertion of inalienable rights bestowed upon us by you: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Thus do we praise you for the gift of life. Grant us the courage to defend it, life, without which no other rights are secure. We ask your benediction on those waiting to be born, that they may be welcomed and protected. Strengthen our sick and our elders waiting to see your holy face at life’s end, that they may be accompanied by true compassion and cherished with the dignity due those who are infirm and fragile.

We praise and thank you for the gift of liberty. May this land of the free never lack those brave enough to defend our basic freedoms. Renew in all our people a profound respect for religious liberty: the first, most cherished freedom bequeathed upon us at our Founding. May our liberty be in harmony with truth; freedom ordered in goodness and justice. Help us live our freedom in faith, hope, and love. Make us ever-grateful for those who, for over two centuries, have given their lives in freedom’s defense; we commend their noble souls to your eternal care, as even now we beg the protection of your mighty arm upon our men and women in uniform.

We praise and thank you for granting us the life and the liberty by which we can pursue happiness. Show us anew that happiness is found only in respecting the laws of nature and of nature’s God. Empower us with your grace so that we might resist the temptation to replace the moral law with idols of our own making, or to remake those institutions you have given us for the nurturing of life and community. May we welcome those who yearn to breathe free and to pursue happiness in this land of freedom, adding their gifts to those whose families have lived here for centuries.

We praise and thank you for the American genius of government of the people, by the people and for the people. Oh God of wisdom, justice, and might, we ask your guidance for those who govern us: President Barack Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden, Congress, the Supreme Court, and all those, including Governor Mitt Romney and Congressman Paul Ryan, who seek to serve the common good by seeking public office. Make them all worthy to serve you by serving our country. Help them remember that the only just government is the government that serves its citizens rather than itself. With your grace, may all Americans choose wisely as we consider the future course of public policy.

And finally Lord, we beseech your benediction on all of us who depart from here this evening, and on all those, in every land, who yearn to conduct their lives in freedom and justice. We beg you to remember, as we pledge to remember, those who are not free; those who suffer for freedom’s cause; those who are poor, out of work, needy, sick, or alone; those who are persecuted for their religious convictions, those still ravaged by war.

And most of all, God Almighty, we thank you for the great gift of our beloved country.

For we are indeed “one nation under God,” and “in God we trust.”

So dear God, bless America. You who live and reign forever and ever.

Amen!

Cardinal Dolan’s Pro-Life Prayer at the Republican Convention

The following is the pro-life prayer Timothy Cardinal Dolan prayed at the Republican convention last night, following the speech presidential nominee Mitt Romney gave. The prayer hit pro-life themes that are dear to the heart of the head of the Catholic bishops’ conference:

With firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, let us pray:

Cardnal Dolan now invited to pray at BOTH conventions

(CNN)–-Cardinal Timothy Dolan has accepted an invitation to give the closing prayer at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, next week, which will also feature a nun in a speaking role.

Dolan, the archbishop of New York and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, also will give the closing benediction at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday.

When he accepted that invitation, Dolan said his appearance would be prayerful, not political, a sentiment reiterated by his spokesman in announcing his appearance at the DNC.

Editor’s note: Now, all we need is a good speech at the RNC by a faithful, traditional Catholic nun or sister.

How the Daleys of Chicago, Vice President Biden, ex-Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, and HHS Secretary Sebelius, all professed Catholics, can be members of a political party or an administration that supports the contraceptive mandate boggles the mind of many who try to understand their moral reasoning.

If we soon hear sermons against ObamaCare and the drug cartels, are Catholic martyrs are not far off?  For those who think Catholic martyrs are impossible in the United States, today, consider the recent words of Cardinal George.

In his article for “Catholic New World,” Cardinal George writes: “[W]e all stand before Christ and give an accounting of our lives. … I ask lay Catholics and others of good will to step back and understand what is happening to our country as the church is despoiled of her institutions[.]”

Cardinal George continues, “The suffering being imposed on the church and on society now is not a voluntary penance. We should both work and pray to be delivered from it.”

Cardinal Dolan’s remarkable toast at the “Time 100” banquet

“Good evening, everybody.

It sure is a joy and an honor to be here with you, such distinguished and gracious company.

When the extraordinarily gracious folks from Time magazine came to visit with me in preparation for this happy occasion, one of them asked who I would consider the most influential person in my life.

‘That’s a no-brainer,’ I replied.

‘Jesus Christ is the most influential
person in my life.’

The kind journalist clarified: ‘I’m sorry, I should have been more precise:
the person has to be alive now.’

‘Same answer!’ I came back. ‘Jesus Christ!’

Jesus Christ is alive; that’s the significance of the feast we celebrated two weeks ago, on the Sunday called Easter.

‘Why do you look for the living among the dead?’ the angel asked those faithful women at the empty tomb down the slope from a hill called Calvary where He had been executed three days prior on a Friday strangely termed Good.

Colleagues, neighbors and friends: thanks for letting me toast this most influential person, confident as I am that many of you share my sentiments.

I admit He is a person of bewildering paradox:
true God, yet true man;
God’s son, yet born in a stable;
architect of the world, without a home of His own;

creator of the world’s resources, yet Himself possessing only the seamless garment He wore to the cross for which His executioners cast lots;
a king whose throne was a cross, whose crown was of thorns;

coming to bring mercy, but Himself condemned to death;
dead at a mere 33, yet alive forever;
a man of peace, whose followers have tragically waged violence in His Holy Name;
a man of love whose heart is broken by the sin, hatred, and division in the members of the Church He founded, even in its leaders, including me.

Yet, He never gives up on us, asking only our love, faith, and trust;
I toast Him as my Lord and Savior;
I toast Him as my best friend;

I believe He’s here with us this evening, He who invites each of us to enjoy with Him a future banquet of eternal life in heaven.

And I toast all of you influential people for your patience in letting me toast Jesus Christ, the most influential person in my life.”
