The least compelling argument supporters of legal abortion can make

“It is my body, it is my choice.”

[Actually], in abortion, there are two bodies involved, the body of the pregnant woman and the body of the human being in utero. [They] can be of different blood types and different races, and it can happen that one of them dies and the other lives and vice versa.

If there were only one body involved, then absurdities follow such as that a pregnant woman has two heads, four arms, and, if she is carrying a boy, also a penis.

Further, “choice” is a euphemism disguising the reality. Everyone supports good choices that are just and promote human welfare. The question is whether abortion is such a choice.

New York Times writer makes a case for the existence of Hell.

Atheists have license to scoff at damnation, but to believe in God and not in hell is ultimately to disbelieve in the reality of human choices. If there’s no possibility of saying no to paradise then none of our no’s have any real meaning either. They’re like home runs or strikeouts in a children’s game where nobody’s keeping score.

In this sense, a doctrine of universal salvation turns out to be as deterministic as the more strident forms of scientific materialism. Instead of making us prisoners of our glands and genes, it makes us prisoners of God himself. We can check out any time we want, but we can never really leave.

The doctrine of hell, by contrast, assumes that our choices are real, and, indeed, that we are the choices that we make. The miser can become his greed, the murderer can lose himself inside his violence, and their freedom to turn and be forgiven is inseparable from their freedom not to do so.

A Couple of Interesting Reader Comments

I received a couple of emails from Ed S. today. I thought they were definitely worth posting. Please take a look:

Is God Pro Choice?
All  religions and  most  people believe that God has a choice when supplies a soul at the conception of an embryo. Before the conception, God knows all the details of the couple who are doing the  sex act. Why then does he create a soul and  permit conception, knowing the child is unwanted?
We all know people that are not able to conceive. Nationwide, there are 200,000 families waiting to adopt a baby.
Could God, be connecting the dots? Could he, like in the academy award winning movie ‘Juno’, give the  pregnant woman a chance to answer the prayer of would be, adoptive parents?
The Government should help connect mothers of unwanted babies with parents who need babies.
Let’s make it mandatory that these woman be given a notice that people are waiting for her baby and will pay expenses. Then she and God could be in agreement with her choice.

Babies who are the product of rape
I met a young woman whose mom, when pregnant with her, went to an abortion clinic to get an abortion, but when  she  saw the dirty and depressing procedure rooms, she decided to have the baby and put her up for adoption (like Juno did, in the  academy award winning  movie.)
The daughter of that woman grew up and went to law school.
One day, when life issues came up in her law classes, she gave her testimony, which was met with indignance by her professor and many of her fellow students. She was even told that her mom should have followed through with the abortion! (You  would think that law school’s would have rules against bulling?)
When we put a face on “rape babies” the hollow argument for “choice” [the woman’s right to choose {WHAT?} the  death of a  beautiful, young person-to-be] The real face of “rape babies” needs to be seen. And the plot to exterminate them needs to be exposed.
Lets vote for pro life candidates, and ask them to subsidize adoption. Not abortion!

Tenor Andrea Bocelli Tells a True Story About Abortion (that almost killed him)

So, for this occasion I want to tell you a little story. This is how the story goes: A young pregnant wife has been hospitalized for a simple attack of appendicitis. The doctors had to apply some ice on her stomach and when the treatments ended the doctors suggested that she abort the child. They told her it was the best solution because the baby would be born with some disability. But the young brave wife decided not to abort, and the child was born.

That woman was my mother, and I was the child. Maybe I’m partisan but I can say that it was the right choice.

And I hope this could encourage many mothers that sometime find themselves in difficult situations in those moments when life is complicated but want to save the life of their baby. ….

Pro-Life Activist Lila Rose Attacked by Planned Parenthood Abortion Center Escort

Rose tells LifeNews.com she was visiting the abortion center with a group of about 20 students and three adults to pray and provide information to women who might be open to abortion alternatives.

According to a police report filed at the scene and numerous witnesses, a uniformed Planned Parenthood escort engaged in a short exchange with Rose and eventually struck her on the hand, knocking her literature to the ground.

“Sir, are you familiar with the abortion procedure?” Rose asked the Planned Parenthood escort while standing on the public sidewalk.

The escort approached Rose from the Planned Parenthood parking lot and said, “You idiot. You’ve caused so much trouble. You piece of crap.”

Rose told LifeNews.com today: “The man appeared to recognize me though I had never met him. He knew who I was and I think that is part of the reason for his surprising anger and the attack.”

Rose offered to show the escort a picture of a baby victimized by abortion, saying, “Can I show you a picture of what it really does to a baby?”

At this point, the escort struck Rose’s hand knocking her pro-life pamphlets and Bible to the ground and Rose stepped further back on the public sidewalk.

The Planned Parenthood official moved closer to Rose and, visibly shaking, says, “It’s a woman’s choice!”

“What about the baby’s choice?” Rose responds.

The Planned Parenthood escort replied, “It’s not a baby!” and then turned around and walked away.

Note to Congress: Real freedom is the choosing of the good.

050514-F-7203T-005One should not be worried about whether one is free, but rather about what one does with that freedom. There is no virtue in being free; the virtue comes in the actions that stem from our freedom of choice. Real freedom is the choosing of the good.

Report on the April Pro Life Rally in Aurora, Illinois

I’m excited to report that Saturday’s “It’s a Matter of LIFE &
DEATH” rally was a huge success — despite the harsh, chilly winds.

Or maybe I should say “because of”. The fact that it was such an
unseasonably cold day REALLY pumped up the crowd of over 400
courageous pro-lifers.

We packed both sides of New York Street with picket signs and large
pictures showing the beauty of life and the horror of abortion.

Along Oakhurst, the poignant “Cemetery for Choice” mourned the deaths
of mothers who have died having abortions, while farther down
Oakhurst 100 pro-lifers prayed for an end to abortion.

The rally concluded with a thrilling “Balloons for Life” launch,
with hundreds of pink and blue balloons soaring aloft, each
representing a baby saved from abortion by pro-life ministry.
