(Obviously Facetious) Question of the day: Why do Christian men just adore looking at a near naked God nailed to a cross?

Answer: We adore the man, not the image, because the man, Jesus,
is our Lord, God and Holy Redeemer, who laid down his life for us,
so that we might defeat the power of death and hell, through him.

A question about the Holy Eucharist

Question: To any normal person, this sounds very much like the script of a gruesome horror film. The whole idea of “eating Jesus’ body” and “drinking his blood” is grotesque in the extreme. What do you believers have to say about this?

Answer: The Jews were required to eat the flesh of the Passover Lamb, ever since God liberated them from slavery, in Egypt.

Christians have been required to eat the risen and glorified flesh and blood of Jesus Christ – the true, Lamb of Godever since he liberated all of mankind from perpetual slavery to Satan, sin and death by his atoning sacrifice on the cross, at Calvary and his subsequent, glorious resurrection from the dead.

This is an essential part of a uniquely powerful Eucharistic Celebration/Commemoration (known as the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass) where we Christians joyfully, thankfully and powerfully receive the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ (known as “The Real Presence”) under the more palatable and aesthetically pleasing auspices of ordinary bread and wine.

To put it even more simply:
This is merely one more extraordinary and awesome example

of God’s total self-giving for our salvation.

For those in the know, who possess at least a modicum of true faith, this is historically and traditionally consistent, logical, rational and supernaturally nourishing.

For others, it remains a total mystery and a scandal.

The True and Complete Story of How the Authentic Holy Bible Came To Be

For the first 300 years of Christianity, there was no Bible as we know it today.

Christians had the Old Testament Septuagint, and literally hundreds of other books from which to choose.

The Catholic Church realized early on that she had to decide which of these books were inspired and which ones weren’t. The debates raged between theologians, Bishops, and Church Fathers, for several centuries as to which books were inspired and which ones weren’t.

In the meantime, several Church Councils or Synods, were convened to deal with the matter, notably, Rome in 382, Hippo in 393, and Carthage in 397 and 419. The debates sometimes became bitter on both sides.

One of the most famous was between St. Jerome, who felt the seven books were not canonical, and St. Augustine who said they were. Protestants who write about this will invariably mention St. Jerome and his opposition, and conveniently omit the support of St. Augustine. I must point out here that Church Father’s writings are not infallible statements, and their arguments are merely reflections of their own private opinions.

When some say St. Jerome was against the inclusion of the seven books, they are merely showing his personal opinion of them. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. However, A PERSONS PRIVATE OPINION DOES NOT CHANGE THE TRUTH AT ALL.

There are always three sides to every story, this side, that side, and the side of truth. Whether Jerome’s position, or Augustine’s position was the correct position, it had to be settled by a third party, and that third party was the Catholic Church.

Now the story had a dramatic change, as the Pope stepped in to settle the matter. In concurrence with the opinion of St. Augustine, and being prompted by the Holy Spirit, Pope St. Damasus I, at the Council of Rome in 382, issued a decree appropriately called, “The Decree of Damasus”, in which he listed the canonical books of both the Old and New Testaments. He then asked St. Jerome to use this canon and to write a new Bible translation which included an Old Testament of 46 books, which were all in the Septuagint, and a New Testament of 27 books.

ROME HAD SPOKEN. THE ISSUE WAS SETTLED.

“THE CHURCH RECOGNIZED ITS IMAGE IN THE INSPIRED BOOKS OF THE BIBLE. THAT IS HOW IT DETERMINED THE CANON OF SCRIPTURE.” – Fr. Ken Baker

Where are all the Christian Syrian Refugees?

nocross

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ — Christians and other religious minorities in Syria have been targeted for death, sexual slavery, displacement, cultural eradication and forced conversion by ISIS.

Many of these persecuted Christians hope to escape to the United States. They have been largely excluded, with the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration admitting to officials at The Barnabas Fund, a Christian relief agency, “There is no way that Christians will be supported because of their religious affiliation.”

Modern Judaism’s most sacred scriptures, the Talmud and Zohar, are replete with expressions of Rabbinic Judaism’s dream of world empire – including annihilation of all their Gentile and Christian enemies.

talmud

Deep within Judaism’s most sacred rabbinic writings, the Talmud and Zohar (Kabbalah), there exists the obligation to overthrow existing Gentile and Christian society and establish a “new Jewish order.” Such Judaic teaching powerfully diminishes the value of Gentile lives, particularly today in Israel’s occupied territories and Lebanon.

The Reverend Ted Pike claims that the bulk of today’s Jews are really Turkish, Polish and Russian “Ashkenazi” and not true children of Abraham

ISQflag

Clearly, God decided to allow the very gifted and prolific Khazar proselytes of Poland and Russia to become the most passionate advocates of Judaism, developing Cabala, creating Free Masonry, socialism, and world revolution. They now carry the bulk of the burden of corrupting and destroying civilization so a Jewish new world order under Israel’s false messiah, anti-Christ, might be established. The Jewish Bolsheviks who spawned Communism and liberalism were Ashkenazi. (See Jewish Activists Created Communism) All the Jewish media moguls of Hollywood corrupting America and the world are Ashkenazim (see Jews Confirm Big Media is Jewish), as are those who control Wall Street and the Federal Reserve, dominate Congress, and circle Obama and the White House. Thus, from Khazar Poland, the Jewish Talmud and Kabbalah’s dream of revolution and world control flooded the nations.

But God will be true to His promise, abundantly recorded in Scripture, to chastise apostate Israel, including their Khazar converts. The Antichrist will turn on the great harlot Israel, destroying Zionist world control. He will ruthlessly persecute all Jews, racially pure and otherwise, with the greatest suffering in the history of mankind. A minority of Jews will repent out of the Great Tribulation and turn to Christ at His second coming. God is very specific that at that time the honor of serving Jesus as priests in His millennial kingdom will go not just to authentic descendants of Judah, the Sephardim, but, as He promises in Ezekiel 47:22, “to the strangers that sojourn among you [the Khazar Ashkenazim], which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.”

Atheists take issue with opt-in faith-based college dorms

Though the ministry programs typically are run by the Catholic church, students with other religious affiliations are free to participate in the events, and one of the goals is to spur interfaith dialogue. The resident population is overwhelmingly Christian, but also includes Jews, Muslims and others at some schools.

The residence halls, which cost students about what secular dorms do, provide sorely needed housing, supporters say. Because they are privately funded, including their operating costs, universities don’t have to foot the bill.

“This was actually a financial joy for us,” said Anthony Catanese, president of Florida Tech, a private university where the 148-bed Mary Star of the Sea residence hall was recently inaugurated.

But the facilities have provoked some controversy. Last month, the Freedom From Religion Foundation—a group in Madison, Wis., that seeks to maintain state-church separation—wrote a letter to Troy outlining why it considered the Newman Center illegal on a public-university campus.

Editor’s note: The Catholic Newman Centers typically do great work on college campuses across the country – and these faith based dorms are just a logical next step. The atheists can live wherever they want. Nobody is forcing them to do anything. But at the same time, without a viable faith-based housing option, many young people living in conventional college dorms are  forced to live in virtual “dens of iniquity” – with rampant cohabitation and promiscuous sex – including open homosexuality, drugs, virtually non-stop rock and roll – and all types of neo-pagan Bacchanalia. Turning a blind eye toward  these types of issues would be a sin!

Having seen the movie,” Animal House” and not totally ignorant of the ways of the world – when it was time for my eldest son to go off to college, my wife and I had a short but serious talk with him. Then we fervently prayed together, asking  God to “keep him close”. Back home, our family never missed Sunday Mass, so we printed out a small file providing Mass times and walking/driving directions to several Catholic Churches located in and around his new, college digs.

Visiting about a month later, taking in the view from his lofty 14th floor dorm, I casually asked my son to point out for me where he usually attended Mass. “Right there, dad,” he replied. I scanned the horizon from right to left, out and back – two or three times – but try as I might, I was unable to identify anything resembling a church.  “Where?”, I said. “There, dad!”. Still nothing! “One more time, please. Where is the church?”

It was only then that I realized how literally God had chosen to answer our prayers. I had been looking out. What I should have done was look straight down. There – 14 floors below and just across the street – was the local Newman Center, where Mass and Confession were available five days per week, along with a host of other Catholic resources, tailored to the needs of college kids.

My wife couldn’t help but notice the look of relief and gratitude on my face. She gave me a knowing smile. My son just laughed.  It was one of those faith affirming moments that we would have in common, forever.

Praise God, for he is good!

After the Amish School mass killings the victim’s families went to the killers home that very evening to forgive the killer’s family. [ The Amish, like all true Christians, believe the Lord’s words: “Forgive our trespasses [sins] as we forgive those who trespass [sin] against us.”

We all must forgive in order for God to forgive us. The Amish felt they had to forgive before the sun went down on their anger, the day of the killings.

The race baiters and their media minions are fanning the flames of race warfare. Zimmerman, a Hispanic is running for his life and black gang members are being encouraged to feel that they need to get even with any Hispanics they meet.

The revenge acts of violence, all over the country should be laid at the feet of these politicians and their co-conspirators in the media, who promote racial hatred and are responsible for every revenge act stemming from this case.

Vatican said to be developing fleet of stealthy, heavily armed, 4th generation drone aircraft to defend Christians and Christian infrastructure against attacks.

drone

Unnamed sources close to the Vatican indicate that the Holy See may have had just about enough of the popular Muslim past time of burning down churches and brutally persecuting Christians … something which is especially popular today, throughout much of the Middle East.

Religious refugees constitute the poorest of the poor. These people have lost everything; their homes, their ancestral places of worship, and often, even their citizenship, and until now, absolutely no one has come forward to take up their defense.

According to sources, a heavily armed, 4th generation fleet of stealthy drone aircraft (code name, ANJL) will soon begin patrol over such areas, 24/7 and 365. The stated objective is to be able to instantly respond to attacks against Christians and Christian infrastructure, day and night, in every type of weather, with overwhelming defensive force.

An elite unit of the Swiss Guard is said to be training to pilot the fleet and maintain the necessary electronic infrastructure, while a consortium of Italian aircraft manufacturers and Israeli electronics companies continue to work out the technical and logistical details. The actual deployment date remains top secret.

Pope Francis was unavailable for comment. Vatican officials claim to have no knowledge of such a program.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”330

On the legitimate defense of persons and societies

Editor’s note: Of course, this story is purely fictional, but one thing is certain: It’s time for persecution of Christians in the Middle East (and everywhere) to come to an end. God will not permit these rank injustices against the People of God and the Mystical Body of Christ to go on forever. Nor should we.  (Suggested reading: The Book of Exodus.)

Sometimes we have to wade in, sword or gun in hand, and use deadly force to quash the actions of evil men—and we must do so without hating them.

Too soon after Christmas trees are taken down, hundreds of thousands of us will be getting ready to freeze in our nation’s capital while we March for Life. The presence of evil, of very different kinds, is harder to miss this year than most—at least since 2001, when my hometown was attacked. Because it was innocent blood, willingly offered, that wiped away the evil each of carries in himself, and offered us the antidote: imitating Christ, making sacrifices freely to further the Good, and push back against evil.

Those sacrifices aren’t always peaceful—which is why the Church has thousands of soldier saints. We are not a religion for pacifists, or those who would stand by dabbing our tears and caressing our consciences while the weak are victimized. Sometimes we have to wade in, sword or gun in hand, and use deadly force to quash the actions of evil men—and we must do so without hating them. That doesn’t mean without anger, or even without (where needed) the will to kill. The plot to assassinate Hitler in 1944 was carried out by a Catholic war hero, Claus von Stauffenberg, and met with the approval of Pius XII—who transmitted messages on behalf of the conspirators.

Nor is it hate to want to see a criminal be punished, or to take a grim satisfaction in the execution of his sentence. Only those who do not believe in life after death who could think this way; to them, earthly life is the only and ultimate good, so wanting to spoil that for or take that from someone (for any reason) amounts to hate.

More of the same in Syria: Wherever the US and its NATO allies have intervened to change regimes in the Middle East, Christians are the first to be targeted (and killed)

Christians are being systematically targeted for genocide in Syria according to Vatican and other sources with contacts on the ground among the besieged Christian community. According to reports by the Vatican’s Fides News Agency collected by the Centre for the Study of Interventionism, the US-backed Free Syrian Army rebels and ever more radical spin-off factions are sacking Christian churches, shooting Christians dead in the street, broadcasting ultimatums that all Christians must be cleansed from the rebel-held villages, and even shooting priests.

French Bishop Philip Tournyol Clos, a greek-Catholic Melkite Archimandrite, traveled through Syria and, according to the Holy See’s press agency, reported back that Western press was spreading disinformation about the real nature of the uprising in Syria and thereby prolonging and deepening the conflict.

Social Justice Christians: Leftist seeking leftist solutions to known cultural problems, often at the expense of babes in the womb.

Again and again I see young social justice-focused evangelicals abandoning any effective voice for the unborn for the sake of an ephemeral, culturally-fashionable concept that as a practical matter means little more than advocating a utopian ideal through a grab-bag of banal, functionally socialist policies. Moreover, the embrace of social justice often drives them functionally into the arms of a political party and political movements that are dedicated to protecting and even subsidizing the “right” to kill children on a vast, industrial scale.

Social justice must be virtuous indeed to be worth such a high cost. So, what is it?

In human terms the Jesus movement was nipped in the bud at its inception. Yet in less than three centuries the Roman emperor bowed before the cross.

For we Catholics, and for all other Christians, no explanation of this paradoxical outcome is needed.  However there is much here to ponder for non-believers and non-Christians.

In purely human terms the followers of Christ had no chance to accomplish anything:  no powerful supporters, no homeland embracing their faith, cultures, both Jewish and Gentile, which were hostile to the preaching of the Gospels, other religions which were well-established, the list of disadvantages could go on at considerable length.

We take the victory of Christianity for granted because it happened.

We forget how very improbable such a victory was.

Even more improbable is that what began on Palm Sunday, the triumph of Jesus, has continued till today in spite of all challenges that two thousand years of human folly could cast up.  How very peculiar in mortal terms!

Jews don’t like message of Traditional Catholic group. And it’s NOT about the Holocaust.

by Doug Lawrence

The recent events surrounding the proposed reconciliation between the traditional Catholic SSPX group and the Vatican have brought out an unusually large number critical Jews, who take Pope Benedict to task for even considering any sort of rapprochement with the SSPX, unless and until the SSPX people repudiate any and all claims that might reflect badly upon Jews, for any reason … even if those claims are based on actual history and God’s absolute truth.

That is patently unfair.

The fact that our Jewish brothers and sisters know they have absolutely no right to interfere in internal Catholic Church matters, but continue to do so, also demonstrates that the roots of the problem go much, much deeper:

Beneath the high sounding, liberal Jewish rhetoric, often based on unfounded assumptions and flawed, self-serving misinterpretations of church documents, is the fact that the Jews have traditionally, never accepted the Catholic Church or any of its beliefs and teachings … about Jesus Christ, the Mass, the Priesthood, the Sacraments, the Bible, and virtually all things Christian … and Jews tend to view any type of authentic, genuine Catholicity as a threat … a direct affront to Judaism, itself.

Perhaps that perception is true. But the real problem is this: Traditional Jewry will only be happy if and when the Catholic Church agrees to repudiate Jesus Christ, and everything else the Church has preached, taught, and accomplished, in God’s holy name, over the last two thousand years.

That … and only that … would give the Jews a truly “level” playing field against Christianity. That’s what they would like, and that is what’s behind all the various op-ed pieces and position statements by various, Jewish pressure groups. It is also a classic, liberal argument, based almost purely on emotion, and nourished by guilt.

Like all good, post Vatican II Catholics, Pope Benedict and many of his fellow bishops are more than happy to go along with the charade, in the false hope of some sort of Christian-Jewish ecumenical breakthrough, the actual purpose of which, remains a great mystery.

Perhaps if we get the Jews to like us, they will want to become Catholic … but only if we compromise every essential principle of our faith … something which has already been tried by many Evangelical Protestant groups … with few positive results.

What we ought to do is respectfully and charitably agree to disagree, since there can be no real compromise between people who firmly believe that Jesus Christ is God, and those who continue to maintain instead, that Jesus Christ was nothing more than a liar, a pretender, and a blasphemer, worthy of death.

Regarding the tired old charge of Jewish blood libel: Certainly, people of good will … on both sides … can finally put that matter behind us, since Christians understand that it was essentially God’s idea to permit the Jews and the Romans of the first century era to crucify Jesus Christ, in order to destroy Satan’s power and save the world from its sins.

Much more about that, here.

But most Jews won’t accept that, either … so, let’s quit wasting time with all the lies, posturing and disingenuous rhetoric, and get busy with the holy work that God put all of us Christians here, to accomplish … teaching and preaching the entire, authentic, unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And let’s do it in love, since over the last two thousand years, nothing about the human condition has really changed:

And seeing him they adored: but some doubted. And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.
(Matthew 28:17-20)

Nine biblical truths about life (and abortion)

The pro-life movement is comprised of people of many faiths and no faith. So is MCCL. Ours is not a “religious” position. The facts of science (showing that the unborn is a living human organism) combined with sound moral reasoning (showing the equal dignity of every member of the human family) confirm the pro-life position that abortion unjustly takes the life of an innocent human being. This truth — like the truth that slavery is wrong, or that killing homeless people is wrong, or that kindness is good and praiseworthy — is accessible to everyone, regardless of religious conviction. (See, for example, SecularProLife.org.)

Having said that, Christians who embrace the Bible have additional reason to reject abortion and accept the pro-life position. From the Christian perspective, what we know from “general revelation” (science, natural law) is even further confirmed by “special revelation” (the teaching of Scripture). Below are the biblical truths most relevant to abortion, as best as I can discern them. These points should matter for anyone who believes the Bible is true or authoritative, and perhaps also for those who believe the Bible contains at least some truth or wisdom.
