The Transfiguration may have taken place in the fall, during the annual Jewish Feast of Tabernacles

The fact that Jesus and his apostles were out in the country, as well as Saint Peter’s offer to set up tents for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah, hint at a fall time-frame, when Jews would celebrate by erecting tents or booths and spending time outdoors.

The first Christmas may have happened during this fall feast and Jesus’ Second Coming may, as well.

The 2nd Temple was destroyed during this time, which was a form of Divine Judgment on the Jewish people – a “Coming On the Clouds of Heaven” type of event.

The words of Saint Daniel the Prophet, serve to point that out.

The Transfiguration also hints that the Two Witnesses of the Book of Revelation – if they are literally, actual persons – could well be the same prophets who flanked Jesus on either side – Moses and Elijah – representing the Law and the Prophets, which Jesus totally and personally fulfilled, by his earthly life.

The purpose of the two thieves who took up those same positions during the crucifixion, may or may not, in some way, be related to the above.

Its worth noting that this all took place in the general vicinity of Bethel, on the Mount of Olives, where Jacob witnessed angels traversing a heavenly “ladder” or staircase, between heaven and earth – one of whom he later engaged (or who engaged him) in a night-long wrestling match. This is also the same area where Jesus later ascended to Heaven – and where he is prophesied to ultimately, return.

It may also be the true location, now lost to history, of the Garden of Eden.

In any event, there was a lot happening, over a relatively short time, in a very unusual place and only three of the apostles were privileged to observe it.

Three in the sky. Three on the ground. Divine light. Jesus Coming In the Clouds of Heaven. The voice of God.

But ultimately, no tents.

Go figure!
