A young lady finds grace, peace and forgiveness in an unexpected place

When I was a college senior, pregnant, unwed, barely a month off crystal meth, I joked with the Ogre that I might as well just sew a red A on my chest. I said that while we parked, the first day of that first semester back, and I laughed manically and thought I might hyperventilate. I was terrified. It took all the courage I had, and a hefty dose of stubborn pride besides, to step out of the car and walk onto campus. I had grown up in the Bible Belt, you see, and I knew how girls like me were treated.

Jesuit Catholic University Invites Satan to Give Commencement Speech

Merely Seeking Common Ground:
Like Obama, Sebelius, Pelosi … and Death
Satan is misunderstood by many …
especially today’s college students

…Fr. Despereaux, in comments made to the Daily Sham, SSU’s student newspaper, said that having Satan on campus gives bold witness to a central Jesuit principle that God can be found in all things. “The continuing politicization of the faith indicates just how important it is for us to build bridges,” Fr. Despereaux said. “Our whole mission as a university is to bring people together. Satan is badly misunderstood by many people, & we hope to show our graduates that stereotypes, & the hatred they engender, have no place on a Jesuit campus. As Catholics we are to hate hate.”

Michael Voris responds to a Catholic college student’s email.

First ..the email ..

“Hello!  I am writing on behalf of a few of my friends who go to [a university].

I first want to thank you for the work you guys do.  The information that you provide in your videos has helped my few friends and I begin the conversion process of some protestants.  I really want to express my gratitude for this.

However, we have a huge problem.  The Newman Center on campus is such a problem for all Catholics here.  For example, one of our priests here preaches about being a “flexible” Catholic.

Another priest tells students that their sexual activity on campus is okay.  My friends and I went to this workshop on developing a relationship with God.  These old women there spent time discussing about how the Church “is not black and white” and “has many in-consistencies.”

This was all being taught by the Director of Religious Education at the parish!  My friends and I knew it was bad, but we had no idea.  The reason why I am writing this is because I don’t know what to do.

The spiritual damage to all of the students who go the the Newman Center is sickening and saddening.  What should we, as faithful Catholics, do besides just pray?  We pray for things to change all the time, but on a more active role what can we do to help change the situation?

Thank you so much.  The work you do is amazing.  I pray for this ministry every day!

God bless you!”

LA archbishop to offer opening prayer at pro-life event this Sunday at Rose Bowl

The Walk4Life is sponsored by LIFEsocal, which, according to the organization’s website, “was formed by a group of high school and college students, who believe that from the moment of conception, all babies deserve LIFE (Life Is For Everyone).”

Speakers at the Walk4Life will include Live Action founder Lila Rose, the Rev. Walter Hoye, Southern California conservative writer and TV and radio commentator Carol Liebau, actress Karyme Lozano, and Jason Jones of I Am Whole Life.

“Our primary goal is to inform and motivate teens and young adults in Southern California to believe in LIFE, stand up for LIFE, and fight for LIFE, with the hope of ending abortion,” says the LIFEsocal website. “In connection with this mission, we have committed to hold our first major LIFEevent with the Right to Life League of Southern California. It will be held at the Rose Bowl, Sunday, March 27, 2011.”
