4) Know that conversion often takes time and is ultimately God’s work, and;

5) Follow up.

Imagine what would happen, if every time you went to the bank, you left with more money in your account than when you went in!

Romans 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you:
for you are not under the law, but under grace.

Grace is the currency of Heaven … and it’s also the way God enables, empowers, and sanctifies those who love him.

Probably one of the most under-appreciated aspects of the Sacrament of Reconciliation is the fact that (like all sacraments) it infuses abundant grace into the soul.

How much grace?

For the sake of argument, let’s call it “enough to replace all that had been lost, through sin … plus a little more.”

What does this mean, for Catholics who are seriously pursuing personal holiness, conversion, and ultimate perfection in Jesus Christ?

Every time you make a good confession … no matter how grievously you might have offended God, … you leave … absolved of all your sins … but also with (at least) a little more grace in your soul … than you ever had before.

Imagine what would happen,
if every time you went to the bank,

Scripture informs us that God has always empowered the weak and the infirm in this way:

2Corinthians 12:9  And he said to me:
My grace is sufficient for thee:
for power is made perfect in infirmity.
Gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Regularly presenting ourselves before the Lord, through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, serves to empower us to overcome any and all of our human infirmities (spiritual weaknesses, and even physical illnesses) through the sufficiency of God’s abundant grace.

Accepting this fact and acting on it (in humility and faith) not only keeps the forces of the world, the flesh, and the devil under control … but it is a sure and certain way to please God … since it also keeps us perfectly centered in his will … and his plan.

It doesn’t get any better than that, this side of Heaven!

Based on all of this, how often should a Catholic go to confession? Probably a lot more often than we do!

Pope Leo XIII: All who are separated from the Church are part of the Kingdom of Satan, whether they recognize it or not.

Successful Conversion Methods for Old Fashioned Catholic Proselytizers

Many exemplary Catholics, people with plenty of ability and initiative, are unwilling to be members of the average parish society because they feel that the meeting is largely given up to routine details. Yet if they were pointed towards making convert contacts, the Holy Name Society, the Altar and Rosary, the Laymen’s Association and other parish organizations could be revitalized.

The more zealous members could be formed into groups to plan their work and report on it at the meetings, e.g., Census Teams, Visitation Teams, or just plain good neighbors who take every opportunity to bring the love of Christ to others. The work of the teams would am be a matter just between themselves and the priest; reports should be made to the organization so that everyone in it feels that he has a share and be encouraged to participate. Much will depend on the emphasis and inspiration for convert making given by the priest. The fuel is there but the spark that fires it must come from him.

If the attention of the people is constantly drawn to it, if they are guided and encouraged, they will make converts. That is what occurred in the cathedral parish of Denver, Colorado, which was among that pioneered Inquiry Classes in this country. Many Catholics brought inquiries to the classes every year. Father John A. O’Brien tells in his NCWC column how a husband and wife, themselves recent converts, brought thirty-six in one year.

They studied each one and tried to show him how the Faith would satisfy his particular need, his hunger for spiritual security in a cold and indifferent world.

To contact the millions who feel something lacking in their lives, Our Lord needs many more hands like those of this devoted couple. There are many of them to be found in every parish; they need only encouragement and training. The converts will come exactly in proportion to the number of contacts they make. That is the secret.

Prayer: Weapon of Mass Conversion

A Trappistine nun in Syria has emphasized the power of prayer in an interview with the Vatican newspaper.

The members of her community have strongly criticized President Barack Obama’s plans to attack Syria.

Pope Francis’s vigil of prayer for peace “may be the only real chance to counter this madness and prevent another armed intervention that will certainly not help a people who have already been martyred,” said Sister Marta Luisa Fagnani. “Prayer and fasting are like weapons to empty oneself of oneself and to try to be more reasonable, to make oneself listen to a deeper wisdom.”

“Prayer is powerful, of that we are convinced,” she added. “Otherwise, we would not have chosen this life. Prayer is not just a devotion, it is not just a retreat into peace. It is a powerful weapon, though also a peaceful one. It moves the heart, it has a force of its own. We believe this firmly.”

It is not too difficult to see what will happen if a successful Catholic celebrity or businessman is sued for discrimination by a homosexual person and, in a deposition, asked if he or she has ever harbored the view that homosexuality is intrinsically disordered?  Or what if such a Catholic is asked if he or she thinks that homosexual sexual activity is intrinsically immoral, gravely sinful, and if knowingly and willingly engaged in lands one in hell?  Or what if such a Catholic is asked if he or she has ever been against “marriage equality,” and entertained the view that homosexual “marriage” is against the common good?

Answer “Yes” to any of those questions and, in the mind of the secular liberal, you are guilty of invidious discrimination, of malice.  It is an irredeemable position.  Convert or suffer punishment.  Convert or you will be Deened.

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback (a genuinely pro-life Catholic) for President!

Kansas Gov. Brownback signed sweeping anti-abortion legislation Friday.

The GOP governor is a strong abortion opponent who urged lawmakers to create “a culture of life” after taking office in January 2011.

“All human life is sacred. It’s beautiful,” Brownback said just before signing the measure, flanked by abortion opponents. “With this, we continue to build this culture of life in our state.”

An Associated Press photograph taken before the signing shows a page of notes about the bill on Brownback’s desk that included a handwritten message at the top: “JESUS + Mary.” Further down the page were typewritten notes spelling out Brownback’s belief that the bill would create “a culture of life.”

Editor’s note: A number of years ago, then Kansas Senator Brownback, a recent Catholic convert, addressed Father Frank Pavone’s National Pro-Life Prayer Breakfast, just hours before the commencement of the March For Life, in Washington, DC.

I was there.

Senator Sam from Kansas claimed to be 100% pro-life, yet we all knew that the infamous late term abortionist, George Tiller … was at that very moment likely hard at work back in Wichita, injecting poison into the hearts of late term babies … with the full backing and support of then Governor, Kathleen Sebelius.

Sam certainly had his work cut out for him!

Even though Father Frank knew Sam Brownback and vouched for him, the assembled pro-lifers were rightly skeptical, since they had already been deceived by many, many glad-handed politicians, in so many different ways, over so many years. 

Yet based on these latest developments, it looks as though Governor Brownback is “the real deal” … turning things around for life, in Kansas … albeit with much more tough work to be done.

That’s the type of ongoing conversion story that should inspire many. First … the conversion of a man … a powerful politician, no less … and then, the apparent conversion of much of the formerly pro-abortion Kansas legislature.

God speed, Governor … and the same to all the other good men and women of Kansas, who are working diligently, to turn things around for life!

The battle is far from over.
