The Vatican II Renewal: Myth or Reality?

vaticanii

Five major myths surrounding the 2nd Vatican Council:

The myth that the Church was in need of renewal at the time the Council was called.

The myth that Vatican II brought about a renewal.

The myth that the situation improved during the pontificate of John Paul II.

The myth that the Council taught any new infallible dogma and was not simply pastoral.

The myth that the Council did not cause the crisis in the Church — the post hoc ergo propter hoc objection.

Editor’s note: As we all know, “CHANGE” (renewal) is the radical’s favorite cause – much as wolves enjoy “renewing” sheep.

During the mid to late 1960’s radicals took over both the Catholic Church and the Democratic Party of the United States – and things have been going steadily downhill ever since.

Beware of anyone – inside the church or out – proposing “change” or “renewal” – especially when they refuse to provide detailed specifics.

The good news: The word “God” is back in the Democratic Platform. The bad news: This “God” was created in the Democrat’s own image and likeness.

Democrats put God back in the Platform

It’s not that the Democrats are godless … it’s that their “gods” are abortion, weird sex, socialist ideology, and a perverse tendency to redefine evil as good … in spite of the all too obvious realities.

Obama Working Willfully To Undermine Hierarchical Catholic Church

To come up to speed- back a couple of years ago- I knew that the most powerful and connected Catholic Democrats in our country were interested in more than just getting more traction on Catholic social justice issues in our American political system- I would describe the agenda/mind-set of Vicki Kennedy et al for the most part as the following:

1. Obama embodies the Catholic social tradition- he’s a better guide than the out-of-touch Pope/Bishops 2. Democrats for Life leaders were not welcome – despite my own inclusion for a time- Kennedy seemingly successfully squashed the idea of Kristen Day being invited to be part of the listserve 3. The Bishops who were outspoken for advocating the primacy of the right to life for the unborn were demonized, mocked, ridiculed, and at times the idea of trying to bring on an IRS investigation on these type of Bishops was being encouraged by some ( especially if they dared to consider withholding Communion from Pro-choice Dem leaders) 4. Bishops were described as “self-designated custodians of ‘the tradition’”. 5. Catholic Dems could aptly be self-described for the most part as “intra-Catholic warriors” 6. The Clergy Scandals were to be used to help bring the end of the Bishops line of authority- teaching and otherwise 7. This authority should pass to those who know best- the secular-minded Catholic professors and their liberal political activist friends- since there really can’t be such a thing as a Holy Spirit-guided Catholic Church with Popes and Bishops playing a key role- I suppose they could still hold onto ceremonial roles like the Kings in Europe.

I can see clearly now that President Obama has been very conscious of this war for control within the Church- and his choice of Vice President and HHS Secretary- Biden and Sebelius, respectively, was a conspicuous power move to set in place the acceptability of dissenting Catholic leaders and thought into the mainstream of American societal structures and popular imaginations.

Catholic woman is now without a political party: At least she has the Church!

Jo Ann Nardelli isn’t just another Democratic committeewoman. She’s the president and founder of the Blair County Federation of Democratic Women, she was Vice President of the PA State Women’s Caucus, and was 1st Vice President of the PA State Federation of Democratic Women (she had been in line for the presidency of that organization in 2014). She met with Hillary Clinton,  gave a rosary to Joe Biden, and appeared on the cover of US News and World Report going to Church with then Senate candidate Bob Casey Jr.

Nardelli has always been a pro-life Democrat and felt that there was always room for that position in the party. But she said that for the past few years she’s felt that the party was drifting further and further away from her. She said she never shied away from speaking about her Catholic faith or her pro-life views as a Democrat.

She said that for years she hoped that she could change the party from within, make it more in line with traditional values. “I thought I could make a difference to change our party. It didn’t work,” she said. “I noticed it that it’s been going more and more to the left. This is not my father’s party. I did not leave the party, the party left me.”

The “new” Jimmy Carter Bible. Will the Barack Obama revised standard edition be next?

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, March 20, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Former president Jimmy Carter has been strongly identified as a “Born Again” Christian and as a liberal Democrat for nearly five decades. He is once more blending those roles as he promotes “his” latest book, his own study Bible.

The NIV Lessons from Life Bible: Personal Reflections with Jimmy Carter contains the full text of the New International Version of the Bible and the former president’s prayers, reflections, and asides.

During his book tour to promote a study of the Scriptures, Carter mentioned he supports same-sex “marriage.”

Editor’s note: Mr. Carter (you may prefer to call him “Jimma”) seems to have a very short memory, and now he’s gone and replaced the commandments and precepts of Almighty God with the perverted values of his political party.

Why is Zondervan, which has up until now, been a respected religious book publisher, sullying their reputation with something like this? Is the Bible-selling business really that “soft”?

This smells like an election year Democrat party effort, financed with lots of homosexual money, published under the already sullied name of a failed past president, desperate for attention, with nothing left to lose. The almost laughable “Democrats for Life” emerged in much the same way. These guys will do almost anything to siphon-off even a small percentage of the Christian vote.

Poor “Jimma” … America’s all-time worst president (except perhaps, for the current one) has “morphed” into a Bible-thumping apologist for the sodomites!

President Barack Hussein Obama, what is it about “The Bill of Rights” you don’t understand?

by Doug Lawrence

The people who founded the United States of America were intimately familiar with tyrants, along with all their petty, self-serving and unjust edicts. They also knew that the only answer to such edicts and the people who made them was a firm and resounding  “NO”!

The Revolutionary War was fought in order to give a permanent and  particular kind of life to that “no” … and as a warning to petty despots … anywhere and everywhere … that there is now a “free people” on the earth who will accept nothing less than liberty, and who will also be quite happy to give their lives in defense of the God-given rights of all.

But many of our contemporaries seem to think the founding fathers were wrong, that the God-given rights that they so painstakingly enumerated, defined, and enshrined were somehow inadequate, that those rights lacked a divine origin, in fact … and that what we Americans know as “The Bill of Rights” and “The U.S. Constitution” should somehow be reformed or replaced with something more to their liking.

They even go so far as to label those who choose to uphold and defend the traditional rights of all Americans as “mean-spirited bigots” … while at the same time, attempting to rewrite the very history of our great country.

In an attempt to besmirch the reputations of the founding fathers … while trumpeting the cause of “diversity” … these shameless anarchists happily point out that all of the founding fathers … without exception … were men!

In an attempt to undermine the divine basis of the God-given rights that we Americans, and by extension … all human beings possess … they love to trot out (and have been quietly working for generations to codify) an imaginary, totally non-existent  “wall of separation between church and state”.

In an attempt to “sneak” all of this by the American people, they have succeeded in “dumbing down” the younger generations through their successful infiltration of the teachers unions and their subversion of the primary and secondary school systems.

Our great universities have become havens for an outspoken “protected class” of “secular theologians” … godless professors … many of whom are avowed Marxists and blatant, outright haters of the American way … who, at great expense … and with considerable pomp and circumstance … churn out mindless hordes, formed in their own image and likeness, lacking any sense of who they really are, where they actually came from, or what their actual rights, responsibilities and potential as “free people” … might truly be!

Hollywood and the mainstream media grow fat by feeding this massive group of clueless sycophants a steady diet of mental “pap” and “pablum”, while corporate America grows rich … keeping them busy and quite off balance … by “stoking the fires” of their mindless personal quest for money, approval, and influence (as opposed to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.)

Fortunately, recent events have served to bring all these things to light, in the presidency and the particularly corrupt regime of one Barack Hussein Obama, who in his notorious speaking engagement at the formerly Catholic, Notre Dame University, unwittingly became the national “poster boy” for all of the abuses mentioned above (and unfortunately, many, many more.)

The only answer to tyrants like Barack Obama, to all those of his political party, and to all his political operatives, no matter under which rock they might presently be be hiding … is a firm, unyielding “NO”. And the best place to firmly register that “NO” is at the ballot box, come November.

As for the specific “whys” … have a look at “The Bill of Rights”!

Pat Buchanan on the Obamacare contraception mandate and the 2012 election.

Facing a close race for a second term, Obama chose not to antagonize his left. Yet he must have known that siding with them meant leaving Archbishop Dolan with egg all over his face. Obama, calculatedly, came down on the side of those he believes to be more crucial to his re-election.

This affront should tell the Catholic hierarchy, if they did not already know, where they stand in the party of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Kathleen Sebilius. And where they sit — in the back of the bus.

Yet if the bishops will look upon this crisis of conscience, this insult, as an opportunity, they can effect its reversal and recapture a measure of the moral authority they have lately lost.

It’s official: Head of Democratic Party is also head cheerleader for the Culture of Death.

The chair of the national Democratic party headlined a small rally in Florida yesterday for Planned Parenthood, in what is the latest event having Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz working with the abortion business.

Wasserman Schultz was named by pro-abortion President Barack Obama recently to take over as the head of the Democratic Party nationally and prepare for his re-election campaign next year. At the time of her appointment to the position, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards praised Wasserman Schultz as a “heroine” for her extensive abortion advocacy. The appointment made it clear Obama would not run from his lengthy pro-abortion record.

Now, Schultz is continuing that abortion advocacy, appearing in the event sponsored by Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast, a local abortion affiliate.

“Show your support for Planned Parenthood, and tell your elected officials that women’s health matters,” an announcement of the rally read, without mentioning abortion. “We’re so excited to co-sponsor a rally in Ft. Lauderdale during the August Congressional recess with all our wonderful coalition partners – and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Congressman Ted Deutch, and Congressman Alcee Hastings in attendance. We’re going to turn downtown Ft. Lauderdale pink, and thank our elected officials who have defended women’s health care.”

Schultz tweeted about the rally afterwards — providing a picture and saying she was “with Rep. Red Deutch at the Planned Parenthood rally in south Florida. We are truly fighting for women’s lives. This is personal.”

“I joined my colleague Rep. Ted Deutch and others from the FL State Legislature at a rally with Planned Parenthood in South Florida tonight,” she added on her Facebook page. “This year, we’ve experienced some of the most severe attacks on women’s rights since Roe v. Wade. I was six years old when Roe v. Wade was handed down. And never in my life have I felt my constitutional rights as a woman were threatened like I do right now. The women who came before us faced tough times too, but they stayed with it – because they knew that it was up to them to ensure that they left us a better world. And now it’s our turn to carry the torch.”

Chicago’s DePaul University … allegedly Catholic … but not really.

Chicago’s DePaul University was originally established as a Catholic institution. While that has never officially changed, the facts of the matter are quite different.

One would be very hard put to find any evidence of authentic Catholic culture at DePaul. Rather, the place is a shrine to the modern, liberal causes of the day. Particularly those of the Chicago Democratic Party.

Not that such a thing is rare, since the offices of the Archdiocese of Chicago operate under rules which are essentially similar.

The Passing Away of R. Sargent Shriver: Last of the pro-life liberals?

I grew up in Massachusetts during the heyday of this brand of liberalism. I actually remember consistent liberals. Sadly they are now nearly extinct. The Shriver’s stood in the proud tradition of the last truly great Democratic candidate for the Presidency of the United States; the late Pennsylvania Governor Bob Casey. He was a great champion of all the poor and a candidate whom I proudly supported in his bid for the White House. He was censored at the National Democratic Convention when the forces of death on demand in the name of “choice” took over that once great Party. He and the Shriver’s heard the cries of all of the poor, including those whom Mother Teresa rightly called “the poorest of the poor”, children living in the first home of the whole human race who have no voice but our own.

Under the leadership of the late Governor Casey, a full-page advertisement appeared in the New York Times during the Democratic Convention in July 1992 called “A New Compact of Care: Caring about Women, Caring for the Unborn.” Both Eunice and Sargent Shriver signed this document , I offer a small excerpt in honor of Sargent Shriver:

Bishop Kicanus controversy reminds writer of old Bernadin problems.

A group of homosexual activists claiming to be Catholic wants Bishop Gerald Kicanas elected as the new president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. And I’m not the least bit surprised — although the activists hardly need to bolster their influence in the U.S. Catholic Church, considering the “lavender mafia” pretty much runs the show in many dioceses.

Cardinal Bernardin’s “Seamless Garment” later renamed the “Consistent Life Ethic,” like “The Many Faces of AIDS,” is another illustration of how Bernardin helped to advance the agenda of the Homosexual Collective. The Seamless Garment strategy set out by Bernardin in the 1980s sought to broaden the pro-life tent by expanding the movement’s opposition to abortion, euthanasia, population control and school sex instruction to include other “social justice” issues such as war and peace, opposition to the death penalty, welfare reform and civil liberties. One of the immediate effects of the Seamless Garment ethic was the increase of power and financial resources of Social Justice offices at the diocesan level where the Homosexual Collective has always been strongly represented.

Roe, Doe, DOA: How Abortion is Killing the Democratic Party

Monday, March 22, 2010, 9:00 AM
Joe Carter

Last night 219 members of in the House of Representatives proved what many of us have suspected for decades: Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton are the twin pillars of the Democratic Party. The refusal to prohibit federal funding of abortions in the health care bill shows that the Democratic leadership is either remarkably dedicated to the principle that woman should have the right to use federal funds to kill their unborn children or they are the dumbest politicians in history. However, if they truly support abortion on demand they should stand by that conviction no matter how many elections it will cost them. And as history has shown, it has cost them plenty—and will cost them many more.

This wasn’t always the case. The GOP was once the party open to those who supported abortion rights while the Democrats were generally populated with pro-lifers. During the primary race for the 1988 Presidential election, five of the Democratic contenders—Jesse Jackson, Joe Biden, Paul Simon, Dick Gephardt, and Al Gore—had previously opposed abortion. So did Bob Kerry. And Dick Durbin. And Bill Clinton. Even Ted Kennedy had claimed that the “legalization of abortion on demand is not in accordance with the value which our civilization places on human life.”

Catholic Abortion Foe Rep. Bart Stupak Defies His Democratic Party on Health Care Bill

MENOMINEE, Mich. — Representative Bart Stupak often endures things others find unbearable. He crisscrosses a Congressional district so vast that some constituents live eight hours apart and so cold that the beer at his beloved football games sometimes freezes. Years ago, as a state trooper, he blew out his knee chasing a suspect, and he has since had so many operations that he now returns to work the same day, toting crutches and ice.

After his younger son committed suicide in 2000, using the congressman’s gun, Mr. Stupak soon resumed his predawn commute to Washington and his solid voting record with the National Rifle Association.

Now he is enduring more hatred than perhaps any other member of Congress, much of it from fellow Democrats. His name has become a slogan: “Stop Stupak!”

Scott Schloegel, his chief of staff, said wearily, “I can’t tell you how many New Yorkers have called me up and yelled at me about this Stupak guy.”

With final negotiations on a health care overhaul beginning this week, complaints about “the evil Stupak amendment,” as the congressman dryly called it over dinner here recently, are likely to grow even louder. The amendment prevents women who receive federal insurance subsidies from buying abortion coverage — but critics assert it could cause women who buy their own insurance difficulty in obtaining coverage.

Mr. Stupak insists that the final bill include his terms, which he says merely reflect current law. If he prevails, he will have won an audacious, counterintuitive victory, forcing a Democratic-controlled Congress to pass a measure that will be hailed as an anti-abortion triumph. If party members do not accept his terms — and many vow they will not — Mr. Stupak is prepared to block passage of the health care overhaul.
