From the Fall of Man until Jesus Christ, Satan kept the whole world in bondage, by the power of death.

The devil scourging the Church

Hebrews 2:14-15  Therefore because the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he (Jesus) also himself in like manner hath been partaker of the same: that, through death, he might destroy him who had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil: And might deliver them, who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to servitude.

It would seem as though
the Power of Death
(which Jesus called “The Gates of Hell”)

has very powerfully, returned.

The only solution: Matthew 16:18  And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Yet, the whole world cowers in the face of a virus. Cardinals and Governors publicly insult God and denigrate our faith. We see idolatrous worship in the high places and rampant heresies from the Pope. The doors of the Universal (Catholic) Church are locked and the Sacraments have been made unavailable; all of this on top of decades of priestly abuse and deadly scandals; not to mention the grievous sins of all the laity.

It’s as if our very access to the Tree of Life has been deliberately, cut off.

Part of Saint Faustina’s message of Divine Mercy is that there would come a day when God would find it expedient to turn back from mercy, to wrath.

Let’s all hope and pray we’re not yet that far along!

Jesus – coming and going.

An image of Jesus Christ under the title of the Divine Mercy was dedicated at the international airport of Samoa, Faleolo, last Wednesday.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi spoke at the unveiling. He said the “only correct image now looks over the national gateway”.

“Faleolo Airport is Samoa’s front door to the world. It is only fitting then that the image of our merciful Christ greets and farewells those arriving and departing our shores.

Divine Mercy, blood and water flowing from the Temple, and Jesus, the Fountain of All Holiness

Ancient Jewish readers would have recognized the significance of the bloody flow from the side of Christ as Temple imagery.

During festival seasons prior to the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in AD 70, huge amounts of animal blood were generated by the Temple sacrifices. The blood was ducted out of the Temple precincts by a plumbing system which emptied out of the side of the Temple Mount, creating a stream of blood that flowed down and joined the Brook Kidron that flowed along the ravine between the Temple Mount and the Mount of Olives.

This bloody brook had to be crossed if one entered Jerusalem near the Pool of Siloam. So a “stream of blood and water” would evoke the image of the Temple and the Temple city to the ancient Jewish reader. This phenomenon helped identify the body of Jesus as the New Temple.

frmikelnko

Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 701 W. Plainfield Road, Darien Illinois, 60561, will be holding its 2009 Lenten Mission titled “The
Divine Mercy”
from Sunday, March 15th through Wednesday, March 18th.  The evening sessions will begin at 7:00 PM in the Church.

Fr. Seraphim Michalenko, MIC will be the Lenten Mission Master. Fr. Seraphim is the current “Fr. Joseph, MIC” (honorary title of the
director of the Association of Marian Helpers).

A familiar face to EWTN viewers from his appearances on instructive and inspirational programs dealing with the Divine Mercy Message and
devotions, as revealed to Saint Maria Kowalska, Fr. Michalenko has been involved in spreading this message for 50 years.

For more than 20 years, Fr. Michalenko was vice-postulate for North America for the Canonization Cause of Sister Maria Faustina Kowalska,
the “Secretary” and Apostle of Jesus (The Divine Mercy) and….God’s gift to our time,” Pope John Paul II canonization homily.

Fr. Seraphim was a witness to the miracle attributed to Saint Faustina’s ntercession that opened the way for her Beatification in 1993, as well
as the coordinator of the efforts that served to verify that miracle and second one which made possible the adding of the Religious Sister to
the list of Saints on April 30, 2000.

Sunday, March 30, 2008:
Feast of the Divine Mercy

The Message of Divine Mercy is that God is merciful. He is love poured out for us, and He wants no one to escape that merciful love. The message is that God wants us to turn to Him with Trust and repentance while it is still a time of mercy, before He comes as the just Judge. This turning with trust to Him who is Mercy itself is the only source of peace for mankind. Turning to and imploring God’s mercy is the answer to the troubled world, there is no escaping that answer.

Novena before Divine Mercy Sunday

A novena is nine days of prayer (nove’ meaning nine). It ‘s based on the 9 days of prayer that the Apostles prayed between Jesus’ Ascension and the sending of the the Spirit in the form of flames, at Pentecost.

The chaplet is a powerful prayer with oustanding promises. For those who need prayer – this prayer is only exceeded by The Mass and The Holy Rosary – in that order.

Everybody goes through times when they need prayer. You may have friends who have sick friends or family members in the hospital – endless waits in doctors’ waiting rooms – in hospital emergency rooms – in hospital patient’s rooms when one wishes they can find words and/or meditate on their loved ones and pray for them – well, this will surely help.

Happy Resurrection Sunday!
