What does it mean when homosexuals and certain Catholic bishops value public approval over (almost) everything else?

The saints of old warned bishops to choose holiness and orthodoxy over the blandishments of the “world.” Many bishops today in America choose the good opinion of worldly elites over orthodoxy. These cufflinked cardinals worry not about punishment in the next world but slights in this one. They desperately crave the approval of America’s movers and shakers and live in dread fear of losing it.

What will the Pretty People think if I withhold Communion from powerful pro-abortion Catholic pols? Will the Washington Post editorialize against me? Will I lose my place of honor at posh parties? Will my dissenting priests think ill of me? Will I be scorned at the next USCCB meeting?

A small percentage of priests engage in sexually deviant behavior? Blanket coverage. An international army of young people marches through the hot sun and then sits patiently through a rainstorm to see the Pope? Ho-hum.

A million and a half young Catholics from all over the world come to celebrate their faith and to declare their solidarity with the Pope—and the networks obsess over a handful of protestors!

I know that controversy sells papers and pleases sponsors, but anyone who was on the ground for World Youth Day couldn’t help but conclude there was something more at work in the gross discrepancy between reality and reportage.

Tom Roeser on certain downtrodden minorities … and pro-lifers

…you have heard it said by Jefferson and Lincoln that all of us are equal. Not so.

All minorities are more than equal—as are these members of the downtrodden: gays, lesbians, transgenders—but not to be given any separate recognition are the unborn whose supporters come close to violating the sacred tradition of separation of church and state and allowing the pollution of the secular world with religiosity in contradistinction to the founders’ wishes.

YOU Must Act Today to Stop Repeal of the Ban on Gays Openly Serving in the Military

Time is running out.

Tomorrow, May 27th, both the Senate and the House plan to vote on whether to repeal the long-standing statutory ban on homosexuals openly serving in the military. As a result of  the increased  pressure on the White house and Congress by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocacy groups, the vote is scheduled without first obtaining the planned Pentagon report due later in the year.

According to reports, Congressmen are being deluged with phone calls and mail to pressure them to repeal the ban.

Now it’s up to YOU! Please contact (phone or e-mail) the key senators listed below by tomorrow, May 27th. Let them know that you oppose repeal of the long-standing ban on gays openly serving in the military. Ask your family and friends to do the same.

All you have to say or write is:

Please oppose any attempt to repeal or place a moratorium on the longstanding ban on gays openly serving in the military. The purpose of our military is to prepare for and prevail in combat.  It is not a place to experiment with social engineering.”

Tom O’Toole with some suggestions for Cardinal George if the rainbow sash gays have the nerve to show up this Sunday.

If you read my last article on the George/Pfleger situation, you’d probably guess I’d advocate the Catholic Special Forces to take out the Rainbow Sash Movement before the Pentecost Mass even started. And, while I do like the idea of the CSF becoming the, shall we say, “personal ushers” of the RSM, I think the best way to solve this so-called “respectful dialogue” is to not only let the Sash-ers sit in on the service, but give them their own homosexual homily.

“Is God Gay?” could start out with Elton John’s (above) recent controversial quote, which George would consider in Thomistic fashion before rejecting.

Then, starting with Matthew 19, George would show that Jesus, far from advocating gay unions, not only upheld but strengthened the traditional definition of marriage and family, before proceeding to Romans Chapter 1 to show there was absolutely no wiggle room in Jesus’ teaching on this Sacrament, let alone the Fourth Commandment. Finally, George could compare the “senseless, faithless, heartless and ruthless-ness” (Romans 1:31) of those gay Romans who exchanged “the Truth of God for a lie” with the similar behavior of “the dragon and its angels” in Revelation who were cast out of heaven only to be thrown down to earth to become the “accuser of our brothers” and the “pursuer of the woman” there (Rev 12:4-13). Noting the identity of the one whom Christ called “the father of lies” (John 8:44)

George should conclude by saying, “Is God Gay? No, but I believe the devil is.”

GAYS VANDALIZE SAN FRANCISCO CHURCH

GAYS VANDALIZE SAN FRANCISCO CHURCH

Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, in the heart of San Francisco’s gay Castro community, was vandalized over the weekend by opponents of Proposition 8, the California resolution passed by voters in November that rejected gay marriage. Swastikas were painted on the church and the names Ratzinger (referring to Pope Benedict XVI) and Niederauer (the San Francisco Archbishop) were scrawled besides the Nazi symbol.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue is asking Catholics nationwide to respond to this incident:

“In the wake of Proposition 8, innocent persons have been assaulted, churches have been vandalized, a white substance resembling anthrax was sent to the Knights of Columbus and to Mormon temples, supporters of traditional marriage have been branded Nazis, African Americans have been called the ‘N-word,’ houses and cars have been trashed, etc. Unfortunately, most of those in the gay community have been silent about these acts.

“Part of the blame for the latest attack goes to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Both Newsom and the Board have shown nothing but contempt for the First Amendment rights of Catholics. When crucifixes are sold as sex toys and Catholic sensibilities are assaulted by naked men in the street at the annual Folsom Street Fair, they say nothing. When gay men dressed as nuns show up at Mass—at the same church—they say nothing. But the Board was quite vocal about condemning the Catholic Church in 2006, something which led to a lawsuit triggered by the Catholic League and the Thomas More Law Center.

“For those who love to write about ‘root causes,’ let them ponder the guilt of these public officials. Moreover, leaders in the gay community show no leadership when it comes to denouncing incivility committed in the name of gay rights. This has got to end.”

JAY LENO’S DUPLICITY IS APPALLING

JAY LENO’S DUPLICITY IS APPALLING

April 2, 2008

Jay Leno apologized yesterday for asking actor Ryan Phillippe to give his “gayest look” during a recent show. The actor was quite uncomfortable with Leno’s quip and the late-night host came under fire by gay rights groups for his remarks.

Commenting today is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

“We have a fat file on Leno’s anti-Catholic comments, and with the lone exception of his phone call to me apologizing for his Catholic-bashing rant on February 7, 1997, we haven’t heard a word from him regarding our many complaints. Just last July we issued a news release calling him to task for bashing priests and the pope six times in five weeks. And he was at it again on February 18 of this year, leading me to ask the show’s executive producer Debbie Vickers the following question: ‘It is not likely that all of Leno’s writers are bigots, so could you please identify the person who is obsessed with bashing the Catholic Church?’

“This is not the first time the show has shown that it has a conscience. On October 19, 2007, an anti-Semitic remark by Halle Berry was bleeped on air.

“So what conclusion are we to draw? The same one we’ve drawn before: Gays and Jews are protected classes in Hollywood, but Catholics are not. Looks like Hollywood needs an affirmative action plan to hire Catholics. In the event it happens, we recommend that they advertise, Only practicing Catholics need apply. We won’t get our hopes up, and in the meantime it is worth noting that Jay Leno’s duplicity is appalling.”
