Obama wants to force The March for Life to support abortion and contraception. Court says “No”.

Obama-620x459

March for Life’s beliefs are based solely on non-religious ethics and science, while its two employees who joined the suit additionally claimed faith-based reasons for objecting to the mandate.

“If the purpose of the religious employer exemption is, as HHS states, to respect the anti-abortifacient tenets of an employment relationship, then it makes no rational sense-indeed, no sense whatsoever to deny March for Life that same respect,” explains the decision.

“All Your Labors Are Belong to Us!”

…Obamacare, the “law of the land”, contains ever-changing-at-the-whim-of-HHS, politically-expedient mandates, rewards, penalties, rules and regulations with which I cannot rationally or morally treat my patients and run a practice, much-less interpret, implement, or comply.

Millions of Americans have lost coverage because of the healthcare law and must now shop on a defective, insecure government website and sign up for more expensive policies through Federal and State exchanges. Only by logging in as a prospective patient did my office manager and I discover that Aetna was selling plans for which I am a provider-effectively selling my services without even asking, much less informing  me that my services would be sold on such a site, under the auspices of new terms with which I will not comply.

Then, after the fact, I received a form letter informing me of Aetna’s “new allowables”. I will not sell my services under such terms. While treated as such, patients and doctors are not commodities worthy of such impersonal, inconsiderate, and cavalier treatment. We choose dignity and personal service over disrespect and form letters…

For-profit businesses are not included in the HHS contraceptive mandate “accommodation” released today.

Eric Rassbach, an attorney with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a public interest law firm challenging the contraception coverage rule, said “it doesn’t really change the overall way they’re trying to do this.” The Becket Fund represents many of organizations challenging the regulation in federal court.

The Catholic Church prohibits the use of artificial contraception. Evangelicals generally accept the use of birth control, but some object to specific methods such as the morning-after contraceptive pill, which they argue is tantamount to abortion, and is covered under the policy.

Obama deliberately alienating Catholic voters, to show how “tough” he is.

In the past year, Obama’s Justice Department has argued in court that defenders of traditional marriage — the most visible segment of which are observant Catholics and bishops — should be regarded in law as the equivalent of racists. His National Labor Relations Board has issued rulings against two Catholic schools, St. Xavier University in Chicago and Manhattan College in New York, saying that they are not sufficiently Catholic to warrant religious exemptions from federal labor law —a stunning breach of the precedent in which religious bodies, not government officials, decide who qualifies as a member of a particular church. Those rulings followed on the heels of a highly publicized crusade by Obama’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to punish North Carolina’s Belmont Abbey College for removing contraception coverage from its employee health plans, a move the Catholic school made to conform to church doctrine.

And just last week, Obama’s Justice Department argued before the Supreme Court for the effective gutting of the longstanding “ministerial exception” that allows religious bodies to hire and fire employees without government interference.

Editor’s note: Obama knows it’s safe to “bully” Catholics because the majority of Catholics were so easily taken in during his run for the presidency, and he has yet to perceive a significant backlash. Any politician worth his salt knows how to exploit weakness and division. That’s exactly what POTUS is doing … with Catholics … and with the Republicans, in Congress.

Kathleen Sebelius, the public, unrepentant, Catholic heretic, speaks in Chicago

“Forty percent of unplanned pregnancies end in those women seeking abortions,” Sebelius said, then grew sarcastic: “Wouldn’t you think that people who want to reduce the number of abortions would champion the cause of widely available, widely affordable contraceptive services? Not so much.”

Bishops Ask Catholics to Take Action Against the President’s Birth Control/Abortion Mandate. This Site Makes It Easy!

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops would like to encourage every Knight of Columbus to take immediate action to support religious freedom and rights of conscience for Catholics and Catholic institutions.

The delegates at our 129th Supreme Convention in Denver in August unanimously passed a resolution pledging our support for freedom of conscience in health care. This resolution was in response to a rule recently issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requiring almost all private health plans to cover contraception and sterilization as “preventive services” for women.

The new rule would force insurance plans to cover all FDA-approved contraceptive methods and sterilization procedures, including “emergency contraception” drugs that may cause an abortion by interfering with the implantation of a newly-conceived human being. More information is available on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website and in the NCHLA Action Alert regarding the Health and Human Services Contraceptive Mandate. The mandate will force individuals and groups with religious or moral objections to purchase and provide such coverage. The rule poses a serious threat to the religious freedom of both individuals and institutions.

The Department of Health and Human Service has established a period for public comment that ends on September 30th. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is encouraging Catholics to show their support for bi-partisan legislation, the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179 / S.1467), which would ensure that federal mandates do not violate the deeply-held moral and religious convictions of our citizens.

The Knights of Columbus will always support religious freedom as a basic civil right. No persons or institutions should ever be forced to act in a manner contrary to their moral and religious beliefs.

Gov’t views opponents of abortion, illegal immigration as possible threats

hhsnapolitano2

According to the Homeland Security document, right-wing extremism “may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as abortion or immigration.”

The report goes on to say that “many right-wing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use.”

The Homeland Security report also makes reference to the rise of right-wing extremism in the 1990s and says factors which enhanced the movement were opposition to things such as abortion and same-sex “marriage.”

Kansas Senator Brownback – Turncoat

hlihdr1

Brownback – Turncoat

I am not a politician, I am a priest. So I would like to give my priestly perspective about the recent endorsement of Senator Sam Brownback for the candidacy of Kathleen Sebelius for Secretary of Health and Human Services: Senator Brownback’s cowardly betrayal of his Catholic faith is even more damaging than his political permission for this renegade to take office.

The situation is atrocious. An extremist abortion hack (called the most pro-abortion governor in the nation by many), who falsely calls herself “Catholic,” is given the opportunity to preside over the nation’s healthcare system and normalize abortion even further; this radical is then endorsed by a US senator who also calls himself “Catholic” and who, many believe, wants her job back home when she becomes the abortion queen in DC.

With pro-lifers like Senator Sam Brownback, who needs pro-aborts?

Moral theologians can work out what level of cooperation in evil the Senator’s endorsement represents – he is, after all, an influential senator whose opposition, if he had given it, may very well have stopped her nomination. Yet, those of us who do not breathe the rarified air of Washington DC and who have dedicated our lives to defending the sanctity of human life understand one thing: any covenant with the abortion industry or its promoters is consent to the killing. As a convert to the Catholic Faith, Senator Brownback seems not to understand the Church’s profoundly wounded heart with regard the slaughter of the innocents. The Church tells us never to participate in that slaughter, no matter what the cost; we do not give aid and comfort to the enemies of human life, we do not stand by while the innocent are being dragged off to a violent murder, and under no circumstances do we endorse the political aspirations of their executioners. Politicians who sell the lives of babies for political gains are the worst kind of turncoats.

Yet, this Catholic Senator’s decision constitutes, I think, a watershed moment for all of us who want to see an end to the immoral industry of baby-killing in our country. We will never be served by the compromise of our principles in any form. Catholicism is the solution to this culture of death. If only Catholics ourselves would fully live up to our doctrine and put it into practice, there would be no “Tiller the Killer”s in Kansas, no partial birth abortions, no immoral sex education in the schools or Planned Parenthoods dominating our public life. Self-described “Catholics” like Brownback (in politics), Doug Kmiec (in academia), Hannity, Matthews and O’Reilly (in media) and others are not the solution to the problem – they are enablers of the problem. Despite their high-sounding lip service to the culture of life, they are compromisers. They will never end abortion because they don’t want to end abortion.

I have often said that false Catholics, whether they be Cardinals, politicians or janitors, are the ones who have the most to account for on the Day of Judgment when they will have to account for ignoring Christ in His “least brethren,” the unborn. Whether through advocacy of the evil (like Sebelius) or negligence in stopping it (like Brownback), they have blood on their hands. They’ve been given everything the Church has to offer: the teaching, the sacraments, the example of the saints and the grace to stand against Satan and all his works and all his empty promises. In other words, they know better, and the Biblical warning applies to them: “To whom much has been given, much will be required.” Cowards and turncoats beware.

Sincerely,

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer,

SEBELIUS—ENEMY OF THE UNBORN—TO HHS?

SEBELIUS—ENEMY OF THE UNBORN—TO HHS?

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a front-page story in today’s New York Times that says Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is the president’s top choice as secretary of health and human services:

“Almost all of those working in the Obama administration are pro-abortion, and the expectation is that almost all future appointees will be champions of abortion rights, as well. Fortunately, most are not in a position to affect abortion policy. One glaring exception is the secretary of health and human services. Unfortunately, Gov. Sebelius, a Catholic, may get the job.

sebelius20tiller201-thumb-300x493“Sebelius’ support for abortion is so far off-the-charts that she has been publicly criticized by the last three archbishops of Kansas City. In 1992, when Sebelius was a state legislator, Archbishop Ignatius Strecker rebuked her for leading what he dubbed a ‘death-march of the unborn.’ When Sebelius became governor in 2003, Archbishop James Keleher, citing her abortion record, asked her to move her inauguration interfaith service from Topeka’s Assumption Catholic Church. She refused. The current archbishop, Joseph Naumann, called her out on the issue: he challenged her to name one instance in her long legislative career where she supported limiting abortion rights. She could not. He subsequently asked her not to go to Communion.

“None of these archbishops overreacted. Not only does Sebelius support the now outlawed practice of killing babies who are 80 percent born, so-called partial-birth abortion, she has accepted donations from one of the most notorious practitioners of this Nazi-style act—Dr. George Tiller. Moreover, she even hosted a dinner for him in the Governor’s Mansion.

“Just yesterday, the pope admonished House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on this issue. Now we have the specter of another pro-abortion Catholic stiffing the Catholic Church. This is setting up a confrontation that pro-life Catholics will not walk away from. It is also setting up a battle between those Catholics who are honestly pro-life, and those who feign a pro-life position while always embracing the likes of Sebelius.”

Help Enact Regulations To Protect Pro-Life Health Care Workers

Help Enact Regulations To Protect Pro-Life Health Care Workers

You must act now.  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed regulations to protect health care workers’ right of conscience.  In short, if a person or entity (e.g. hospital) refuses to particiapte in any event surrounding an abortion, the person or entity cannot be retaliated against.

It is imperative that HHS hears from you.  The regulations have an open comment period that ends this Thursday, September 25th.  Pro-abortion forces have rallied their troops to fight this just cause.  Now we have to rally too!

Go here and complete the HHS form.  Tell them it is important that health care workers are able to live out their values.

Laws are already on the books that protect freedom of conscience.  The proposed regulations are intended to clarify this issue, so that existing rights are better known and enforced.

Feel free to copy, paste and edit the letter below into the comments section of the HHS website:

I am writing in support of the proposed Provider Conscience Regulation submitted by Secretary Leavitt.

The proposed regulation will reinforce current laws protecting health care workers who have a right to follow their conscience. They merely preserve the rights of individuals to refuse participation in abortion-related health care.  Clarity of the current law is needed so people know their rights.

In the face of increasing shortages of qualified health care personnel, these regulations will also help ensure that pro-life doctors, nurses and hospitals continue to provide valuable services to needy communities around the country.

McCain leads by four points in latest Gallup poll

McCain leads by four points in latest Gallup poll

The Obama fan club, also known as the media, is not reporting this in the U.S., but, according to an article in the August 2 through 8 edition of The Economist newspaper on London, Sen. John McCain is leading Barack Hussein Obama by four points in the latest, national Gallup poll…this national poll comes as McCain is surging in swing states, like Ohio, where he “has a 10 point lead,” the paper notes. McCain has also been gaining in six other battleground states. . . A poll by Rasmussen Reports indicates that 20 percent of Democrats plan to vote for McCain in November…and show that enthusiasm for Hussein Obama among college students has dropped dramatically since the spring…apparently the kids no longer think he is the secular “Messiah,” or the Chosen One, though the media is still agog over the the abortion extremist, junior Senator from Illinois. . .Hussein Obama is also losing women over 40, according to a new Fox New Channel poll…other polls show that evangelicals favor McCain over Hussein Obama by a 6-to1 margin. The traditional Christian vote may be key in the fall to keeping the Culture of Life at the White House. . .Hussein Obama’s poll numbers, overall, may not be as good as the media purport them to be….The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Democratic pollster Peter Hart estimates that 10 percent of Democrats and 10 percent of Independents who say they support Hussein Obama “may not be giving a fully honest answer, at least based on their responses to broader questions…” reports in Investor’s Business Daily may give a clue as to why: many voters now recognize the presumptuous Democratic nominee as a true communist, not just a lifestyle liberal.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi targets federal protections for pro-life doctors, nurses

Purported Catholic, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is battling against federal regulations from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that will protect health care workers from being forced to participate in an abortion, or administer abortifacent drugs that they find morally objectionable, according to a report in this week’s edition of Catholic newspaper, The Wanderer. Health care organizations that receive federal funds – and that’s almost every health care organization – will have to promise not to discriminate against those who object to abortion on the basis of religious faith or moral convictions. . .
