Where there is no objective truth there can be no intelligent debate.

keeprightwrong

While high emotion often accompanies hot topics like sex in schools what we are seeing in the current moral debate in America is more than a typical emotional reaction to sex education. Instead of this being an emotional element in a heated debate, the debate seemed to consist of nothing but heated emotions. This is not emotion about morality this is emotion instead of morality, and there is a philosophical term for it: Boo-hurrah morality.

Another term for Boo-hurrah morality is emotivism. Emotivism is a gut level theory of the origin of ethics which suggests that moral judgements are no more than emotional reactions expressed forcibly to change someone else’s attitudes and actions. If you think this is all made up academic hocus pocus you would be correct. It was first proposed by the logical positivist A. J. Ayer in his 1936 book Language, Truth and Logica book which should have been titled, There’s No Such Thing As Language, Truth and Logic.

The Perils of Progressivism

timeline

This timeline, along with these recent statistics, demonstrates that the eroding of family life in the United States is not something sudden, but rather the result of a gradual process of social change.

The events listed are not a random collection, but show a determined and coordinated decline of our culture, rooted in our changing understanding of sexuality, marriage and family, and even life itself (which is now a commodity, which can be engineered).

The link between contraception, abortion, and homosexuality itself can be demonstrated simply by examining the Supreme Court decisions concerning these issues, which in their opinions directly build one upon the other.

Straight talking Sister summarily thrown under the (Catholic School) bus

sisterlaurel

“Many said that the first part of her [Sister Jane’s] presentation at Charlotte Catholic High School was excellent and fully in line with the Catholic faith,” Father Arnsparger said.

“There was unfortunately a misunderstanding about the content of the last part of the presentation. In that part, I understand that Sister used data from the Linacre Quarterly, a reputable journal, and from other sources. That data can be debated and, in fact, is debated back and forth by scholars who are researching the areas of human sexuality. Because of the ongoing debate, it would have been better if these studies and data were omitted from the presentation to the students.”

This was not enough to satisfy parents, one of whom claimed to be representing lesbian, gay and bisexual students at the school and who said the presentation created an unsafe environment for these students.

Another told the school chaplain: “You don’t know what’s best for our children. What are you planning on doing for the healing? We want our children to remain Catholic, but we are being pushed away by the climate of what is going on here.”

Judging by the hostile attitude of these parents, it’s hard to imagine what they might want short of a retraction of Church teaching in order to assuage their offended children (who wouldn’t be offended in the first place if they were being taught the Truth at home). If not a retraction, then they are certainly gunning for the watered-down version that is creeping into so many other Catholic schools where youth are served the same kind of cultural pabulum they can get for free in the public school down the street.

Editor’s note:

I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming and his kingdom: Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine.

For there shall be a time when they will not endure sound doctrine but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.

But be thou vigilant, labor in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober. For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand. I have fought a good fight: I have finished my course: I have kept the faith. As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming…  (2 Timothy 4:1-8)

Nun teaching the authentic faith in Catholic school shocks teachers, bewilders students, outrages parents

sisterlaurel

Sister Jane Dominic Laurel (The Terrible?)

The Rev. Tim Reid, pastor of St. Ann Catholic Church, sent an email lauding the nun, saying “she represented well the Catholic positions on marriage, sex, same-sex attraction and proper gender roles … The Church has already lost too many generations of Catholic schools students to … a very muddled and watered-down faith.”

Charlotte Catholic High School has invited parents to a meeting Wednesday night to air concerns many of them – and their kids – had about a recent speaker’s comments about homosexuality, divorce and single parents.

Sister Jane Dominic Laurel, a Dominican nun based in Nashville, Tenn., addressed a student assembly on March 21. Days later, some students launched an online petition that called her comments “offensive and unnecessarily derogatory.”

Editor’s note: In the roughly 4,500 year history of the Judeo-Christian religions there is a long standing tradition of killing prophets who dare to proclaim the authentic Word of God to the people. It’s amazing that so little has changed, over the years.

I ran into much the same type of thing while teaching an 8th grade Confirmation Prep Class at a local Catholic Religious Education Program. I made the “mistake” of (privately) asking each student if they were in the habit of regularly attending  Sunday Mass. Since nine of twelve students did not, I devoted our next class session to a review of Church teaching on worship, Mass attendance, Holy Days of obligation, etc. I also explained that, absent extraordinary circumstances, deliberately missing Mass on a Sunday or a Holy Day, objectively constituted a mortal sin.

The resulting “firestorm” of parent complaints necessitated a special meeting before the next scheduled class, where the Religious Ed director and I personally met with half a dozen irate parents. After absorbing twenty minutes worth of critical comments and vitriol, I read aloud the three paragraphs most pertinent to the Sunday/Holy Day Mass obligation, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

The Sunday obligation

2180 The precept of the Church specifies the law of the Lord more precisely: “On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass.”117 “The precept of participating in the Mass is satisfied by assistance at a Mass which is celebrated anywhere in a Catholic rite either on the holy day or on the evening of the preceding day.”118

2181 The Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor.119 Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin.

2182 Participation in the communal celebration of the Sunday Eucharist is a testimony of belonging and of being faithful to Christ and to his Church. The faithful give witness by this to their communion in faith and charity. Together they testify to God’s holiness and their hope of salvation. They strengthen one another under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Then I asked if there were any questions. You could have heard a pin drop!

The Pot Calling the Kettle “Black”

VATICAN CITY (AP) — A U.N. human rights committee denounced the Vatican on Wednesday for adopting policies that allowed priests to rape and molest tens of thousands of children over decades, and urged it to open its files on the pedophiles and the churchmen who concealed their crimes.

In a devastating report, the U.N. committee also severely criticized the Holy See for its attitudes toward homosexuality, contraception and abortion and said it should review its policies to ensure children’s rights and their access to health care are guaranteed.

Editor’s note: Now let’s address the scandal known as UNICEF.

Media firestorm: Duck Dynasty star tells the truth about immoral behavior – homosexual and otherwise.

Speaking with GQ, Robertson lamented that when “everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong … sin becomes fine.” So just what qualifies as sinful in his book?

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there — bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he declared.

Phil probably should have cut himself off at this point, but instead he paraphrased Corinthians. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God,” he warned. “Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

What’s more, according to him, it’s basically incomprehensible. “It seems to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” he explained. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking, ‘There’s more there! She’s got more to offer.’ I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

An extensive, well researched, open letter to Pope Francis re: Homosexuality in the Church and elsewhere

The Language of Gayspeak

When I first read your response to Scamparini (on the papal plane, coming back from Brazil – ed.) I must confess that my attention was not drawn immediately to the Ricca scandal, but rather to the fact that you used the term “gay” or “gay person” no less than five times.

On June 6, 2013, you allegedly made a private comment to the members of the Latin America Confederation of Men and Women Religious affirming the existence of a “gay lobby,” inside the Vatican, but the term was later reported with quotes. [2] Such was not the case this time round. I must assume that your unfortunate decision to use the politically correct language of gayspeakwas deliberate. In normal times this action might have been overlooked with a wink and a nod, but in wartimes it smells of treason and corruption.

The war of which I speak is the war being waged by faithful Catholics and other civilized men and women across the world against the forces of organized sexual perversion. These are the forces of the enemies of the cross of Christ “whose end” Blessed Paul the Apostle tells us “is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.” (Epistle. Philip. 3, 17-19). The Homosexual Collective, aka, La Lobby Gay, has long been aware that to control language is to control the way people think since we think in terms of words. The words we speak determine the thoughts we have. It is by controlling language, a form of Pavlovian conditioning, that the Collective seeks to change the dominant shape of reality.

Unlike the word, homosexual, or the more traditional term, sodomite, the word “gay” is used by the Collective and its sympathizers to denote a “consciously united resistance to homophobic and heterosexual deployments of power relations.” [3] It is the task of the Homosexual Collective to transform the homosexual or sodomite into a “gay” man, and to define, control and validate “authentic” homosexual identity and behavior and all other aspects of “gay” life.

“Homophobia” as Ideology

As a related aside, in recent public statements you have consistently condemned the substitution of “ideology” for true Faith going as far as to denounce “ideological Christians” who “simply recite the same prayers they’ve memorized,” (presumably this includes the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be, traditional prayers which we cradle Catholics learned at the knees of our parents and which are especially helpful at times of great crisis in our lives). Yet you seem totally oblivious to the use of ideology by the Homosexual Collective when it is presented right in front of your nose.

Case in point is your personal, hand written correspondence of June 2013 with the leadership of the Italian pro-homosexual group Kairos which is based in Florence.

In their initial letter to you, Kairos called for openness and dialogue, and noted that closure to discussion “always feeds homophobia.” [4] Although the official text of your correspondence has not been released, according to a Kairos spokesman, your letter contained a “benedictory greeting” or “blessing.” A second letter from the Vatican Secretariat of State confirmed that you “really enjoyed” the Kairos letter, despite the fact that it was filled with all manner of ideologies including that represented by the use of the word “homophobia.”

Like “gay,” the term “homophobia” is a construct and successful political catchword in the Homosexual Collective’s arsenal which has acquired a special function in the service of power.
