Our Lady of Guadalupe Image: How has the 481-year-old Tilma survived so many years without decay?

“All the cloths similar to the Tilma that have been placed in the salty and humid environment around the Basilica,” Dr. Orozco explained,“have lasted no more than ten years.”  A painting of the image on cloth which had been protected behind glass was discarded after only eight years, because the colors had faded and the threads had broken so badly.

The Tilma, meanwhile, was displayed unprotected for 116 years, exposed to the heat of tens of thousands of candles and to the harsh, humid and salty air; yet it remains vibrant.

Malaysian image of the Blessed Virgin Mary to be moved to church, preserved.

“We are strong in our faith and this is a sign from Jesus that we are important,” said Thomas, a Catholic, who added he was planning on heading to the hospital himself to see the “miracle” up close.

While many in the country, especially the conservative Islamic elements have denounced the “miracle,” Catholic worshipers are flocking to the hospital for a glimpse of the Virgin Mary.

The country’s Catholic community has swarmed the Sime Darby Medical Center to bear witness to what many believe is the appearance of the Virgin Mary on one of its windows.

“I am here to see for myself the miracle of the Mother showing herself here in Malaysia,” one Catholic worshiper told Bikyamasr.com on Sunday.

Others expressed disbelief, touching the window to see if it had been painted. It had not.

Shroud of Turin a ‘radiation photo’ of resurrection?

New study bolsters theory that body of Jesus Christ produced image

For instance, the authors noted the Shroud’s frontal and dorsal body images are “encoded with the same amount of intensity, independent of any pressure or weight from the body,” such that the bottom part of the cloth that bore all the weight of the crucified man’s supine body is not encoded with a greater amount of intensity than the frontal image.

“Radiation coming from the body would not only explain this feature, but also the left/right and light/dark reversals found on the cloth’s frontal and dorsal body images,” the authors note.

In arguing that the source of light that created the body image on the Shroud came from within the body, the authors observed that “neither the outside or inside of the tomb, nor the outside or inside of either the front or back sides of the cloth” are found on the Shroud’s image.

“This means that the source of light does not originate outside of the body, the cloth or the tomb, but with the body itself,” they write. “The weave of the inner part of the cloth containing the frontal and dorsal images is not even part of the distinctive images, which they too, would have been, if the light came from anywhere outside the body.”

Friends, we may all be in big, big trouble!

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

1549 Through the ordained ministry, especially that of bishops and priests, the presence of Christ as head of the Church is made visible in the midst of the community of believers. In the beautiful expression of St. Ignatius of Antioch, the bishop is typos tou Patros: he is like the living image of God the Father.
