Navy veteran: I would strongly discourage any good man from joining the military.

carrier

In the Navy, particularly, it is extremely difficult to remain faithful to Christ’s teachings. You live day in and day out in the company to immoral people. Drunkenness is extremely common, as is theft, pornography, fornication, and adultery. Brothels in foreign ports make their wages for the year when American ships arrive.

The Navy is also extremely damaging to family life. 6-month deployments as well as numerous other underway periods steal a man’s time from his loved ones. Even while in port, 12 hour work days are the norm. I missed about 9 months of my first born daughter’s first year because I was out to sea. The stress and strain that puts on a spouse is, in my opinion, irresponsible of a husband.

We can thank Pope Francis for highlighting some of the liberal, modernistic stuff hidden in the current Catechism of the Catholic Church.

What the Abortion President and the Modernist Pope
have in common

by Doug Lawrence

Pope Francis’ unabashed, unapologetic and unashamed public promotion of worldly, liberal and modernist religious concepts is working a lot like Barack Obama’s similarly unrestrained efforts at promoting abortion without limits.

It’s making people with authentically formed consciences think and respond – utilizing all the  truths of the faith, within the proper context of sacred and apostolic tradition – as opposed to the hermaunetic of chaos, corruption and disruption that has been the “norm” in the Catholic Church, over the last fifty years.

In the case of Barack Obama and abortion, we’re seeing more anti-abortion laws being passed, coupled  with long overdue enforcement, regulation and prosecution of abortion facilities and abortionists.

In the case of Pope Francis – which is not yet as far along – I predict that we will eventually see all the liberal and modernist errors and scandals in the church exposed – and we will then be called to participate in a genuine spiritual revolution that will demand (and get) a prompt return to the doctrinal sanity, traditional reliability and genuine Christ-centered holiness for which the Catholic Church (except for the last half century) has always been known.

An article at Catholic Vote by writer Tom Hoopes put me on to this idea.

I’m sure Mr. Hoopes means well and intends to fully support and defend Pope Francis in his continuing outbursts of catechetical curiosities, but for those of us who know and understand the catechism – including its many weaknesses, omissions and political calculations – Hoopes article accomplishes just the opposite.

Here’s an example

Love, not Legalism

“If the Christian is a restorationist, a legalist, if he wants everything clear and safe, then he will find nothing. Tradition and memory of the past must help us to have the courage to open up new areas to God. Those who today always look for disciplinarian solutions, those who long for an exaggerated doctrinal ‘security,’ those who stubbornly try to recover a past that no longer exists—they have a static and inward-directed view of things. In this way, faith becomes an ideology among other ideologies.”

Rejecting ideology, even religious ideology, is another central teaching of Francis. And it’s a critically important teaching for our time, which turns everything into ideology. It is also a teaching of the Catechism.

1972 The New Law is called a law of love because it makes us act out of the love infused by the Holy Spirit, rather than from fear; a law of grace, because it confers the strength of grace to act, by means of faith and the sacraments; a law of freedom, because it sets us free from the ritual and juridical observances of the Old Law, inclines us to act spontaneously by the prompting of charity and, finally, lets us pass from the condition of a servant who “does not know what his master is doing” to that of a friend of Christ – “For all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you” – or even to the status of son and heir.

******

This totally ignores the fact that it is impossible to create true disciples without a certain amount of discipline – just as it would be virtually impossible to live a good, holy, Christian life absent regular prayer and study – along with full, faithful and active participation in all of the applicable work, worship,  sacraments and devotions of the Catholic Church.

The liberals and the modernists attempt to quickly discredit and then discard all that is tried and true in the Catholic Church, in favor of untested novelties that appeal primarily to the inflated human egos of persons who typically possess a distorted sense of charity, equality, diversity and prudence.

They also seem to totally forget that sin is the reason for most of the world’s evil – and that traditional Catholic teachings, practices, disciplines and philosophy remain the best antidote to sin that the world has ever known.

If that’s ideological, legalist and/or restorationist, then so be it!

The Catholic bishops have already experimented with the modernistic approach to corruption in the priesthood and it has cost the church much of its moral authority, along with at least $2.6 billion dollars that could otherwise have been used to feed, clothe and house the poor. This constitutes a colossal breach of essential Christian charity as well as an almost total failure of prudential judgment by ordained persons operating at the very highest levels of the Catholic Church!

Remember … with the close of the 2nd Vatican Council
“CHANGE” had come to the Catholic Church …
and it came to the Catholic Church FIRST!

It was only after the Church of the Ages
was totally disrupted and taken out of the way
that global terrorism, big government, radical feminism, abortion,
homosexuality, the destruction of the family
and many other types of evils and immorality
were allowed to proceed, virtually unchecked!

Should Pope Francis and his supporters succeed in their efforts to further “modernize” the Catholic Church, there’s no telling what new evils might be in store for the church – and for the world.

A mere fifty or sixty years ago I doubt you’d find any practicing Catholic who would say they supported gay ‘marriage’.

People are getting weary of fighting immorality on all levels because what is and isn’t moral has been warped.  Things aren’t always so black and white anymore.  Where black and white once held the bounds of moral and immoral firmly in place, they have now given way to shades of grey.

What God determined as immoral, has been redefined. Lust has become love. Marriage between a man and a woman as God defined it, as been redefined by mere man.

When lust was redefined as “love” people forgot when REAL LOVE meant.
Today’s “love” is a rip off.  A counterfeit of what real love is.

So women read “romance” novels and sigh over what they see as romantic love. While men read porn magazines and lust after the very thing that will lead them to Hell.

We are being desensitized and most of us don’t even know it.

Planned Parenthood operates as a quasi-governmental agency funded by and completely beholding to godless liberal politicians and their like-minded supporters.

Revealing the truth about the practices of Planned Parenthood is the goal of a new campaign by Alliance Defending Freedom. The campaign, “Pretty Ugly, Planned Parenthood’s deception of the American Public,” is focused around four little-known truths about Planned Parenthood: that they 1) promote sexual promiscuity to children to create a customer; 2) promote abortion and enforce abortion quotas to drive funding; 3) keep health standards and overhead low, putting women at risk, and 4) they commit fraud by wasting and abusing taxpayer dollars.

Latest HHS Mandate “fix” is largely an Obama/Sebelius accounting gimmick

First, here is what the new proposed rules did NOT change:

  • Conscience-minded business owners with more than 50 employees will continue to be forced to pay for coverage for contraceptives, abortion-inducing drugs, and sterilization procedures. This includes Michigan businessman John Kennedy and Missouri businessman Frank O’Brien, both of whom are represented and defended by our CatholicVote.org Legal Defense Fund.
  • Pro-life organizations, schools or charities which are not explicitly religious will still be forced to pay for abortion inducing drugs if they have more than 50 employees.
  • The new rules provide NO options for private individuals who seek insurance coverage that respects their conscience.

So what changed?

Some religious nonprofits (schools, hospitals, and charities) are being told they can now “opt out” of the exemption – but in name only. The proposal will allow some of our Catholic colleges, hospitals, and charities to provide coverage that exempts these immoral medicines – BUT – the same insurance company will step in and provide the objectionable services to their employees for free.

By raising a religious objection, some faith-based institutions can now avoid directly paying the insurance company for objectionable medicines and procedures – yet the premiums they pay will go straight to an insurance company that will create a separate policy that will cover the very things these religious employers believe are wrong.

Likewise, self-insured plans like those used by many dioceses and large faith-based groups will be forced to cover their eyes while their plan “Administrator” does the same thing.

To be fair, we must apply gun control principles to elected politicians and government appointees, without exception.

ladyjust

by Doug Lawrence

Let’s get real. The problem is not guns. The problem is widespread corruption and immorality, which pervades our present day society and especially, our government.

With that in mind, it’s time to require instant background checks on every politician, elected or appointed, without exception, covering every local, state and federal jurisdiction … especially the Supreme Court, the Congress, and the President/Vice President.

Elected or not, if the politician fails to pass an instant background check, he/she is out of there! All accrued pensions and benefits would be instantly forfeit, as well.

Constitutional issues could certainly be quickly resolved by the same people who are presently attempting to subvert and otherwise “gut” our country’s founding documents. But of course, that would be grounds for instant dismissal, under the PIBC (Politician Instant Background Check) provisions.

Those guys better watch out!

…shame … is the one bad thing we need more of.

shame

I’m 33. I was earning my slutty shame when some of you were buying your first Britney Spears CDs. Sorry to destroy all your illusions about my church-going formative years, but the closest I got to a church between the ages of 14 and 26 was weddings, funerals, and that time I traded a pack of Newports for a joint from a tranny prostitute in front of some cathedral in Manhattan.

I read pornographic literature, and I wrote erotica. I experimented with harder drugs. I stole another girl’s boyfriend on purpose. I fancied both men and women.

I was going to go into a lot of detail in this column, but I think that’s enough. I keep writing about all the slutty things I did between the ages of 15 and 26 and then deleting it, because I am ashamed of it. And – this is a weird sentence – I am proud to be ashamed of it.

Reform CCHD Now Coalition: “We cannot advance the Gospel of Life, bringing souls to God if we continue to fund the enemies of Christ.”

In the summer, RCN released a comprehensive report profiling 74 current CCHD grantees who have advocated activities contrary to Catholic teaching. They say 38% of CCHD’s grant funds went to organizations that support abortion, contraception, homosexuality, or Marxism either directly or through memberships in coalitions.

Find Reform CCHD Now’s full report on CCHD’s problematic grantees.

“As a coalition, we are calling on all 74 grantees profiled in our report to return their grant money to the Catholic Church,” says Hichborn. “We ask Catholics all across the country to read the report, become informed, and inform their family, friends, pastors and bishops on where Catholic money is going.”

CCHD’s grant guidelines stipulate that “applicant organizations must not participate in or promote activities that contradict the moral and social teachings of the Catholic Church.”

Child sacrifice in 21st-century America

It was supposed to be a country in which women were liberated; it became a country in which women were ever more the victims of predatory and sexually irresponsible men, left alone with their “rights” to find a technological “fix” to the dilemma of unwanted pregnancy.

It was supposed to become a more humane country; it became a country in which morally coarsened pundits can describe as “extreme” and “weird” the faith-filled response of the Santorum family to the loss of a newborn shortly after birth.

It was supposed to be a country of greater equality; it became a country in which the fantasies of those who believed that America was for white Anglo-Saxon Protestants only, with emphasis on “white,” were realized beyond the wildest imaginings of the most crazed racists and eugenicists of the 1920s.

The good, the bad, and the ugly about the Catholic Church scandals.

The church is in a crisis. That much is obvious. We are just beginning to find out the sordid details of what some in the Church have been doing for the last few decades. Here are some tell-tale items, in case you haven’t heard.

Over a billion dollars has been paid by the Catholic Church for out-of-court settlements having to do with sexual scandals. The Boston dioceses has just discovered another 250 cases of sexual predation among its priests. Archdiocese all over the country have similar problems. The Sante Fe diocese is almost bankrupt due to fewer than one hundred lawsuits against its priests and bishop. Lloyds of London, the Sante Fe diocese insurer, refused to pay out any more insurance claims because the Church, “continued to give parish assignments to priests with a history of sexual abuse”(Our Sunday Visitor, Feb. 27, 1994, p. 5).

The Chicago diocese has paid out multi-millions in lawsuits. Philadelphia, New York, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Baltimore, San Jose, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and many other cities are experiencing the same. The problem is widespread. The National Catholic Reporter in the early nineties stated that, “10 percent of priests report a sexual approach from a priest while they were in training…spiritual directors, novice masters, seminary professors often introduce sexual contact into the context of their spiritual office” (NCR, Sept. 7, 1993, p. 7). Others say the numbers are much higher.

Canon lawyer Fr. Thomas Doyle, who co-authored the Doyle-Moulton-Peterson report on sexual abuse among the clergy, estimated in 1990 that 3,000 priests were “currently involved sexually with minors.” They also estimated that about 12,000 priests were involved with adult women, with thousands of paternity suits filed against them. They estimated that 6,000 priests were involved with adult men in homosexual relationships (ibid). The total of all three categories is 21,000 priests involved in some type of illicit sexual relationship, out of approximately 47,000 priests. The total is 45% – a number far higher than the 1-2% you hear from some apologists trying to downplay the present crisis by focusing only on pedophilia cases. Twelve years later, the statistics are only worse. Crisis Magazine, in the October 2001 issue, documented that every one of the 188 Catholic dioceses (some say 193 dioceses) in the United States have faced, or are facing, claims of priests in illicit sexual relationships.

Behind the pedophile scandal, however, is the real engine driving this present immorality: homosexuality. Although it is rarely mentioned by the media for fear of the backlash from the gay community, pedophile priests are primarily homosexuals merely using young boys as their favorite targets. In contrast, there are few cases of pedophile priests molesting young girls.

Pat Boone to Charlie Sheen: Charlie, my young friend, you can’t beat those odds. Nobody can.

Yesterday, out of curiosity, I Googled “Rock Star deaths” and came up with 14 pages of names! Poor Charlie keeps referring to himself as a “rock star,” which in truth he’s become. Is he going to join all the others who also knew they could defy the odds and nature itself, and survive drugs, alcohol and sexual perversion? Famous, lamented stars like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Sid Vicious … Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, among scores of others on every level of popular entertainment?

“They DIE in youth, and their life is among the unclean.” Job 36: 5, 6, 14

“As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own DEATH.” Proverbs 11:19

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of DEATH.” Proverbs 14:12

“For the wages of sin is DEATH: but the gift of God is eternal LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Charlie, my young friend, you can’t beat those odds. Nobody can. You might continue to twitter and tweet and rant and rave for a little while longer – but the catastrophe ahead is absolutely unavoidable.

Home schooling mom claims her world is more real than yours

People sometimes (with a straight face, mind you) accuse my husband and I of “depriving” or even “abusing” our children by homeschooling them in a rural setting. How, they wonder, will our girls ever adapt to the (cough) “real” world if they don’t have the socialization opportunities of school? What do you mean we don’t have television reception in our home? How will our kids ever learn what kind of behavior is expected of them unless they watch such intellectually lofty programs as “Glee” and “Gossip Girl”?

The implication is because our children are growing up valuing modesty, self-control, honor and self-respect, they are maladjusted little twits who will end up as drooling misguided troglodytes with the collective social skills of, say, wood lice.

Then I see a television program and realize why some people think our parental methods are destructive. We’re raising our girls far, far away from the “real” world.

In the “real” world of modern America, girls are raunchy sexual creatures whose sole purpose from toddler-hood on up is to dress provocatively, adorn their bodies with tattoos, piercings and make-up, and whose sole goal in life, apparently, is to find out how many boys they can bed.

Orthodox Rabbi predicts deadly fallout from permitting homosexuality in military

Rabbi Levin, head of Jews for Morality and spokesman for nearly 1000 Orthodox Rabbis across North America, said that the sanctioning of grave immorality removes God’s protection. “We are students of Biblical history,” he said. “We have seen time and time again in Biblical history when Jews and others have forsaken the path of morality that we have paid – society has paid – a bitter price in terms of losing God’s grace and protection.  There have been natural disasters, there have been defeats in wars.”

The prominent Rabbi warned, “It is very apparent to me, that at such a time where we are involved with various wars in various fronts and there is a tinderbox situation with Korea, the mid-East and so many areas. It’s painfully apparent to me that to a certain extent we – America in general and our military specifically – are in the greatest danger of losing God’s grace and protection.”

He expressed his concern that “religious people who would want to enlist and serve their country have to feel that if they demonstrate in any way their religious feelings they are going to be court marshaled, disciplined, forcefully taught tolerance.  All of this is immorality and evil, and when one promotes immorality and evil we lose God’s protection and we pay for it in loss of life and limb.  This is our fear.”

Choosing to deceive one’s self about abortion

In championing the pro-life position,
we simply say that between life and death,
there is no third thing.

You are either alive or you are not.

Abortion kills or it does not.

It is morally permissible or it is not.

There are simply some things
that do not admit of a “neutral” third position.

Between these two opposed possibilities,
there can only be “confrontation,”
distasteful as that may be to some sensibilities.

Archbishop denounces post-Christian paganism of Christian societies

La Plata, Argentina, Aug 9, 2010 / 04:02 pm (CNA).- The “post-Christian paganism fervently practiced by people who call themselves Christian,” is what makes people oblivious to the increasing inhumanity of society, said Archbishop Hector Aguer of La Plata, Argentina in a recent homily.

During an August 4 Mass at the archdiocesan seminary, the archbishop warned of a “common slip-up today” which consists of “being concerned about the social, cultural and political consequences of the faith, without asking oneself about the truth and credibility of the faith – which is taken as a given.”

Deficiencies in Public Education

My son came home from the first day of school last year and told me that his social studies teacher had announced to the class that he was a passionate liberal and he hoped that there were a lot of conservative students in class because he liked to debate them. When I emailed this teacher to ask if my son had understood him correctly, I received an angry denial in return.

When I was in this teacher’s classroom for Parent Orientation Night last September, I noticed several posters on the walls: one of Malcolm X, four of organized labor, three posters of Che Guevara, and one of Chairman Mao. If these posters of historically important figures had been balanced with posters of historically important conservative figures, there would be no problem. But they were no posters of conservative men or women. This teacher’s posters clearly were not intended to educate students about history but to announce the philosophical and political viewpoints of the teacher — a paid public servant.

Legal fund calls on University of Illinois to reinstate Catholic professor

Champaign, Ill., Jul 12, 2010 / 06:53 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- In a letter sent Monday to the University of Illinois, the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) called for the immediate reinstatement of Dr. Kenneth Howell, a professor who was fired for explaining in a class on Catholicism that the Church teaches homosexual behavior violates natural law. If the university does not reply to the letter by July 16, the legal fund said it will advise the professor to file a lawsuit.

In his Introduction to Catholicism class this past spring, a class that he had taught regularly at the university, Dr. Howell covered the topic of homosexuality, teaching the Catholic Church’s position on same-sex attractions and behavior. As part of this discussion, Dr. Howell sent an e-mail to his class contrasting how utilitarianism and natural law theory would each determine the morality of homosexual conduct.

A student complained that Dr. Howell’s words were “hate speech” in an e-mail to the head of the department, Dr. Robert McKim. Howell was called into McKim’s office at the end of the semester and told that he would no longer be allowed to teach for the University because his e-mail had “violate[d] university standards of inclusivity.”
