Russia reports a meteor shower in the form of fireballs.

YEKATERINBURG/CHELYABINSK, Russia (Reuters) – About 400 people were injured when a meteorite shot across the sky in central Russia on Friday sending fireballs crashing to Earth, smashing windows and setting off car alarms.

Residents on their way to work in Chelyabinsk heard what sounded like an explosion, saw a bright light and then felt a shockwave, according to a Reuters correspondent in the industrial city 1,500 km (950 miles) east of Moscow.

Should Christians pray for the recovery of a 90-year-old doctor who helped pioneer abortion services in New York City?

A 90-year-old doctor who helped pioneer abortion services in the city was in critical condition Wednesday after he was hit by an SUV that jumped a curb outside of Saks Fifth Avenue a day earlier.

He suffered a broken neck, broken hip, and two broken legs.

Editor’s note: This is arguably much better than being chopped up into little pieces and summarily thrown into a garbage can. Perhaps the doctor will now have the necessary time and inspiration to mend his ways.

But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you: That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who make his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and rain upon the just and the unjust.  (Matthew 5:43-45)

Don’t ask … don’t shoot. One dead, one injured in “curious” British nuclear sub incident.

LONDON – A shooting aboard a nuclear-powered submarine in an English port Friday left one Royal Navy sailor dead, one critically injured and a third under arrest, police and military officials said.

Police said the incident on HMS Astute, docked in Southampton, southern England, was not terrorism related.

“Two Royal Navy personnel have been involved in a firearms incident at Southampton docks,” Britain’s defense ministry said in a statement. “Sadly, one has now died as a result of his injuries.”

Defense Secretary Liam Fox said he was saddened by the “tragic incident.”
