IRS Caught on Tape Telling Nonprofit: “Keep Your Faith to Yourself”

The IRS scandal is deepening as a new tape has been released today showing a disturbing phone call the Internal Revenue Service placed to a non-profit organization.

Alliance Defending Freedom, a pro-life legal group, made the audio available today of IRS officials telling a group that provides support to women in abusive pregnancy situations to keep its faith to itself. In the recorded phone conversation, an IRS agent lectures the president of the organization about forcing its religion and beliefs on others and inaccurately explains that the group must remain neutral on issues such as abortion.

See the list of 55 outrageous, unconstitutional questions asked by Obama and his IRS Agents

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) – Although it should be concerned with finances, the IRS asked the Richmond Tea Party for a list of names for all of its volunteers, according to the Daily Mail. The IRS has no business with this information and should not be asking for it.

Another chilling fact about the power of the corrupt IRS

“These folks are also the enforcement arm for the president’s healthcare law. If they’ll lie about whether or not they’re just watching American citizens, how much further will they’ll take it, when they have the kind of power that the president’s healthcare act puts into their hands?”

Thomas More Society speaks out on the IRS power to potentially trample on our constitutional rights through ostensibly innocuous means.

According to TMS, in one case, the IRS withheld approval of an application for tax exempt status for Coalition for Life of Iowa.

In a phone call to Coalition for Life of Iowa leaders on June 6, 2009, the IRS agent “Ms. Richards” told the group to send a letter to the IRS with the entire board’s signatures stating that, under perjury of the law, they do not picket/protest or organize groups to picket or protest outside of Planned Parenthood. Once the IRS received this letter, their application would be approved.

After a series of letters following a request for more invasive information, Thomas More Society special counsel Sally Wagenmaker sent a letter to the IRS demanding the tax exempt status be issued immediately.

1st amendment prohibits the government from meddling in church business … even when it comes to politics … and tax exemptions!

The Thomas More Society says that the law and the Bill of Rights is on the bishop’s side, and promises a “free and aggressive legal defense to any religious leaders targeted or victimized for the robust exercise of their free speech rights.”

“The Internal Revenue Service has no legal right to investigate, let alone threaten or penalize the Catholic Diocese of Peoria for illegal ‘electioneering’ after Bishop Daniel Jenky, C.S.C., referred to policies of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin while delivering a robust, wholly legitimate critique of current federal efforts to quash and curtail religious liberties,” says Thomas Brejcha, president of the Thomas More Society.

“References to egregious, historical mistakes on the part of political leaders of the past in messages to congregations, even in an election year, are fully protected by the First Amendment, whether those messages are delivered from the pulpit or on soap boxes in the public square,” he continued.

“We think the law is very clear,” said Brejcha.

“Well-settled federal law does not prohibit churches and other tax-exempt non-profits from speaking out against government policies at odds with the common good or – as in this case – constitutionally obnoxious.”

And so it begins … courageous Catholic bishop attacked by bigots, from both sides!

CHICAGO — A prominent advocate of church-state separation filed a formal complaint with the Internal Revenue Service on Thursday, accusing the Roman Catholic Diocese of Peoria, Ill., of violating federal law by intervening in a political campaign…

Also …

On Wednesday, Lonnie Nasatir, the regional director of Chicago’s Anti-Defamation League, demanded an apology from (Bishop) Jenky, calling his remarks “outrageous, offensive and completely over the top.”

Editor’s note: Now we’re cookin’!

It’s high time for Catholic truth to once again begin to prevail against the liberal lies and clap-trap that has been masquerading as such, for the last half century.

We have Barack (the Messiah) Obama to thank for this … not that he deserves any credit … or votes … as a result. He just couldn’t help himself!

One day, the American people will realize that overreaching, totalitarian government is the enemy … while the Catholic Church … advocating time-tested, authentic Christian morality, for the common good of all … is much, much less “heavy-handed” … and much more compassionate, fair and balanced.

As usual,
it’s a choice between Jesus Christ
and the Anti-Christ.

The Catholic Church speaks for Jesus, through the advocacy of the Holy Spirit … so who do you think the other guy speaks for … through the advocacy of: 1) Harry Reid, 2) Nancy Pelosi, and 3) David Axelrod?  Of course: 1) the world, 2) the flesh, and 3) the devil!

Don’t be deceived!

And this is charity: That we walk according to his commandments. For this is the commandment that, as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in the same: For many seducers are gone out into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a seducer and an antichrist.

Look to yourselves, that you lose not the things which you have wrought: but that you may receive a full reward. Whosoever revolts and continues not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God. He that continues in the doctrine, the same hath both the Father and the Son.

If any man come to you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the (WHITE) house nor say to him: God speed you. For he that saith unto him: God speed you, communicates with his wicked works. (2 John 1:6-11)

(For those unfamiliar with scripture, I inserted the above reference to the (WHITE) house, since it was clear to me that something had obviously been lost, in translation.)

Minnesota Congressman threatens pro-family priest with IRS enforcement action

Father John Echert sent the following to Kriesel:

Dear Representative Kriesel:
Greetings from Father John Echert, Pastor of the Parishes of Holy Trinity and St. Augustine in South St. Paul. I am writing to you specifically in regards to the proposed Marriage Amendment under consideration here in Minnesota in light of an email exchange which you recently had with my Associate Pastor, Father Robert Grabner.

Within your response you wrote, “Unfortunately I do not support the Marriage Amendment and will not be voting for it.” I am very saddened to learn this, especially since I had encouraged one of our parishioners, one of your campaign advocates, to have you come to our parish Fall Festival last October so that parishioners could meet you in the days leading up to the elections. Also, as a military Chaplain here in the Minnesota Air National Guard I have been using you as a heroic example of resiliency in our monthly Yellow Ribbon Program for recently returned deployers.

I ask you to please reconsider your position on this critical matter. While we can legitimately debate issues related to finances and politics, those that are grounded upon basic moral principles and family values are rooted in the laws of God. I am commencing this week with a parish campaign to promote support for a Marriage Amendment in Minnesota; I hope that you will be among those elected officials upon whom we can count for your efforts at the leadership level to protect traditional marriage in our state.

Sincerely,
Father John Echert

An aide to Kriesel sent back this response:

Mr. Echert,
I would like to respectfully remind you that the Internal Revenue Service frowns upon churches and religious organizations devoting time to influencing legislation. Your admission of the commencement of a politically involved “campaign” will probably violate several state and federal tax provisions.

See what happened next

Like the IRS now? Wait until the IRS gets involved in the national healthcare plan!

Obama’s Health Care Bill enlists the IRS as the healthcare enforcement agency. Byron York writes in The Washington Examiner, “Under the Democrats’ health care proposals, the already powerful — and already feared — IRS would wield even more power and extend its reach even further into the lives of ordinary Americans, and the presidentially-appointed head of the new health care bureaucracy would have access to confidential IRS information about millions of individual taxpayers. In short, health care reform, as currently envisioned by Democratic leaders, would be built on the foundation of an expanded and more intrusive IRS.”

Catholic Answers sues IRS, alleging ‘intimidation’ on political issues

El Cajon, Calif., Jun 6, 2009 / 07:58 am (CNA).- The apologetics organization Catholic Answers has filed suit against the Internal Revenue Service claiming the federal tax collection agency has “intimidated” churches and non-profit groups into silence on politically controversial moral issues.
