Message to Obama cultists: Only God (the real one) has the power to simply “speak” good things into existence.

obamamessiah

Our modernity is style rather than substance. It’s Obama grinning. It’s the right font. It’s the right joke. It’s that sense that X knows what he’s doing because he presents it the right way. There’s nothing particularly modern about that. In most cultures, the illusion of competence trumps the real thing. It’s why so many countries are so badly broken because they go by appearances, rather than by results.

The idea that we should go by results, rather than by processes, by outcomes rather than by appearances, was revolutionary. For most of human history, we were trapped in a cargo cult mode. We did the “right things” not because they led to the right results, but because we had decided that they were the right things. There were many competent people, but they were hamstrung by rigid institutions that made it impossible to go from Point A to Point B in the shortest possible time.

And we’re right back there today. The entire process of ObamaCare was the opposite of going from Point A to Point B. It was the least competent and efficient solution every step of the way. There was no reason to think that its website would be any better. The process that led to it being dumped on the American people was completely devoid of any notion of testing or outcomes. It was the right thing to do because… it was the right thing to do. It was cargo cult logic all the same. So was its website.

Healthcare.gov, like ObamaCare, was going to work because it was “good”.

Reader question: How does God perform miracles? Is the magic really powerful?

D.B. (on Yahoo Answers) recently asked: How does God perform miracles? Is the magic really powerful?

Doug Lawrence answers: Most things that appear to us as miracles are simply events that were duly scheduled and provided for long, long ago by the creator God of heaven and earth, who made all things out of nothing, according to the power of his word, who knows the end from the beginning, and all things in between  … and who also has an exquisitely flawless sense of timing.

This is not to say that God cannot or will not occasionally go through the trouble of re-shuffling every event in the history of creation in order to perform a miracle. But when you can look at things from God’s unique perspective, such a task would rarely be necessary.

The logic goes something like this: Even before God created the heavens and the earth (an estimated 15 billion years ago) he already knew that you would post this question on the internet, so he also created and supplied the “provision” that would be necessary to furnish your answer: Among certain other things … me!

Such is the divine nature. No “magic” is required.

Exorcist explains how Catholics ought to live their faith

“Obviously, one should frequent the sacraments — especially Confession and Communion — pray every day, and cultivate a loving and fruitful relationship with Our Lord, Our Lady and the saints. In addition, one should do a regular (daily) examination of conscience, with prayers that the Holy Spirit might enlighten us to any secret sins.

“It goes without saying that Catholics should avoid any contact with the occult, Ouija boards, magic crystals, New Age practitioners, anything having to do with Wicca, witchcraft, or even the Goth movement. Also, we need to be conscious of Christ’s command to forgive others. We need to forgive those who harm us and practice charity to those who have hurt us. We have to be very, very careful not to nurse grudges or slights, or hold on to anger or refuse to forgive others for their crimes against us. All this is what we should be praying for daily.”

Famous exorcist: ‘The devil loves to take over those who hold political office’
Fr. Gabriele Amorth

.- In an interview with the magazine “Maria Mensajera,” famous Italian exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth said, “Everybody is vulnerable to the work of Satan” and that “the devil loves to take over those who hold political office.”

The Spanish daily “La Razon” published the interview in an article by Alexander Smoltczyk in which the 82 year-old priest describes what happens in an exorcism.  He said he has performed more than 70,000.

“Evil exists in politics, quite often in fact,” Father Amorth said.  “The devil loves to take over business leaders and those who hold political office.  Hitler and Stalin were possessed.  How do I know? Because they killed millions of people.  The Gospel says: ‘By their fruits you will know them.’  Unfortunately, an exorcism on them would not have been enough, since they were convinced of what they were doing.  We can’t say it was a possession in the strict sense of the word, but rather a total and voluntary acceptance of the suggestions of the devil.”

“I tell those who come to see me to first go to a doctor or a psychologist,” the priest continued.  “Most of the time there is a physical or psychological basis for explaining their suffering.  The psychiatrists send me the incurable cases.  There is no rivalry.  The psychiatrist determines if it is an illness, the exorcist if it is a curse,” Father Amorth explained.

Nobody, he went on, not even himself, is “safe from the devil.  Everyone is vulnerable.”  “The devil is very intelligent. He retains the intelligence of the angel that he was.”

“Suppose, for example, that someone you work with is envious of you and casts a spell on you. You would get sick. 90 percent of the cases that I deal with are precisely spells. The rest are due to membership in satanic sects or participation in séances or magic. If you live in harmony with God, it is much more difficult for the devil to possess you,” Father Amorth stated.

“The Pope supports exorcists,” he explained, but “satanic sects are proliferating,” and for this reason Father Amorth said his calendar for the next two months is full.  “I work seven days a week, from morning until night, including Christmas Eve and Holy Week,” he said.
