Catholic priest in Middle East struggles to preserve what remains of the faith

Four Horsemen

He is rounding up ancient manuscripts and relics and hiding them in secure locations around Kurdistan, hoping to save them from the iconoclastic fury of the terror insurgency.

“If Daesh burns down a church we can rebuild it, but the manuscripts are our history. They trace back our roots, they are part of our civilization,” he said, using the Arabic acronym for the group. “If they get destroyed, then we are lost, and our culture will be forgotten.”

“Zombie” Catholicism: Pope Francis breathes new life into Cardinal Bernardin’s legacy.

bernfranc

While there is no indication that Francis knows the writings of Bernardin, who died in 1996, many say the pope’s remarks repeatedly evoke Bernardin’s signature teachings on the “consistent ethic of life” – the view that church doctrine champions the poor and vulnerable from womb to tomb – and on finding “common ground” to heal divisions in the church.

Ironically, the re-emergence of Bernardin — a man who was admired by a young Chicago organizer named Barack Obama — is exposing the very rifts he sought to bridge, especially among conservatives who thought his broad view of Catholicism was buried with him in Mount Carmel Cemetery outside Chicago.

Editor’s note: You never get a second chance to make a good first impression and only six months in, Pope Francis’ ill considered rhetoric has already alienated a good part – the most consistently faithful part – of the Catholic Church. No “seamless garment” is going to be able to patch that up, and the scheduled 2014 canonization of Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II is likely to only make things worse.

At least the late Cardinal Bernadin (who was my archbishop, as well as a working associate of Barack Obama/Barry Sotero) managed to conduct his nefarious business without insulting huge numbers of Catholics and that’s probably why he was such a remarkably effective operator. Thank God he died before they could elect him pope!

Pope Francis by comparison, has so far acted more like the humble, likable, but almost totally inept former American President Jimmy Carter – the guy who got Egyptian President Anwar Sadat killed – and by his timely gutting of the CIA and abandonment of the Iranian Shah –  lit the fuse of the powder keg which promptly exploded into today’s Middle East.

All the more reason to pray fervently for Pope Francis!

Vatican said to be developing fleet of stealthy, heavily armed, 4th generation drone aircraft to defend Christians and Christian infrastructure against attacks.

drone

Unnamed sources close to the Vatican indicate that the Holy See may have had just about enough of the popular Muslim past time of burning down churches and brutally persecuting Christians … something which is especially popular today, throughout much of the Middle East.

Religious refugees constitute the poorest of the poor. These people have lost everything; their homes, their ancestral places of worship, and often, even their citizenship, and until now, absolutely no one has come forward to take up their defense.

According to sources, a heavily armed, 4th generation fleet of stealthy drone aircraft (code name, ANJL) will soon begin patrol over such areas, 24/7 and 365. The stated objective is to be able to instantly respond to attacks against Christians and Christian infrastructure, day and night, in every type of weather, with overwhelming defensive force.

An elite unit of the Swiss Guard is said to be training to pilot the fleet and maintain the necessary electronic infrastructure, while a consortium of Italian aircraft manufacturers and Israeli electronics companies continue to work out the technical and logistical details. The actual deployment date remains top secret.

Pope Francis was unavailable for comment. Vatican officials claim to have no knowledge of such a program.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”330

On the legitimate defense of persons and societies

Editor’s note: Of course, this story is purely fictional, but one thing is certain: It’s time for persecution of Christians in the Middle East (and everywhere) to come to an end. God will not permit these rank injustices against the People of God and the Mystical Body of Christ to go on forever. Nor should we.  (Suggested reading: The Book of Exodus.)

On the Current Christian Apocalypse in Egypt and the Middle East

Four Horsemen

…thirteen years before the “Arab Spring,” I could feel in my bowels that the end was near; that the apocalypse of Egyptian Christendom was coming. And curiously enough, I sensed this, too, in many of the more articulate Copts I spoke with: that there was something different in kind, in spirit, about the Islamist threat, now even coming from within the Mubarak government, which nominally protected them.

Over the centuries there had been persecution enough, and occasional pogroms; there had been constant pressure on Christians to convert to Islam, by which a nation still probably majority Christian at the time of the first Crusades gradually became overwhelmingly Muslim. Yet all this had been mostly against a background of “live and let live.” Now, perceptibly, the ground rules were changing. “Islamism” wasn’t “Islam” any more.

Christianity is the only defense ordinary Muslims have against over-reaching Muslim hegemony

In a meeting this morning with the pope, Mufti Mohammad Rachid Kabbani, whose title is “Mufti of the Lebanese Republic,” told Benedict that Muslims “absolutely do not want Christians to leave the Middle East,” according to Jesuit Fr. Federico Lombardi, the Vatican spokesperson.

Editor’s note: Totalitarian Sharia Law is not much different, and possibly worse than totalitarian communism. Moderate Muslims understand that.

They also know that the only practical way to keep the radical Islamists at bay is to share political power with a substantial number of Christian citizens, in order to maintain a strong, stable, moderate, and reasonably popular central government.

That way, short of total insurrection, like what happened in Lebanon, back in the late 70’s and early 80’s, some semblance of a normal everyday existence might still be maintained.

Lebanon’s Mufti Mohammad Rachid Kabbani knows all too well what can happen when the radical Islamists take over.

Pollen is evidence that the Holy Shroud is indeed a winding sheet

According to university researchers the pollen found in the Turin Shroud corresponds to that of flowers used for funerals in Asia Minor 2000 years ago.

Obama Administration Following Jimmy Carter’s Lead: Destabilizing the Middle East.

Hillary’s Yemen “Fall” Was “Prophetic”

President Jimmy Carter originally made the geopolitical mess that is the present day middle east, twiddling his thumbs while Iran fell to the Muslims, getting Egyptian President Anwar Sadat killed, then installing and financing the current, elected dictator, Hosni Mubarek … the guy who “miraculously” survived Sadat’s assassination attack … courageously suffering only a cute, little arm wound … just like in the movies!

Now, President Barack Obama, with his weak, toadying, totally unfocused middle east foreign policy … aided and abetted by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton … is taking things to a whole new level.

Obama has done everything in his power to destabilize Israel, but has only succeeded in shaking Iran, and causing widespread unrest in Tunisia, Lebanon, Yemen, Jordan and Egypt.

Look for the annual $1.5 billion in aide that the U.S. provides to Egypt to (at least temporarily) double or triple.

The next targets: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia!

Look for much more … coming soon … to the mainstream media outlet near you!

Things the “libs” will never tell you about Muslim conquest and the Crusades

First, the historical facts: a long “train of abuses”, to borrow Jefferson’s phrase, preceded the launching of the First Crusade in 1096. Since its very inception, Islam had waged an unremitting war against Christianity.

It conquered and subjugated centuries-old Christian societies in the Middle East and North Africa. After sweeping through France, the Muslim advance was finally checked by Charles Martel at the Battle of Tours in 732.

Following this, Muslim aggression against Christians continued in southern Italy, with the conquest of Sicily in 827. Resistance to these repeated acts of aggression was not characterized as a “crusade”, but simply necessary self-defense.

Over the next centuries, the Seljuq Turks, who converted to Islam, waged war against the Eastern Christian Byzantine Empire.

At the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, the Turks wiped out the Byzantine army, leaving Emperor Alexius Commenus helpless before a relentless and determined foe. Not long after this, he sent envoys to Pope Urban II pleading for military aid.

The Council of Clermont was called by the pope in 1095, in which he addressed the clergy, knights, and commoners who had assembled. To the knights especially his words were both reproving and encouraging:

You, the oppressers of children, plunderers of widows; you, guilty of homicide, of sacrilege, robbers of another’s rights; you who await the pay of thieves for the shedding of Christian blood — as vultures smell fetid corpses, so do you sense battles from afar and rush to them eagerly. Verily, this is the worst way, for it is utterly removed from God! if, forsooth, you wish to be mindful of your souls, either lay down the girdle of such knighthood, or advance boldly, as knights of Christ, and rush as quickly as you can to the defence of the Eastern Church. For she it is from whom the joys of your whole salvation have come forth, who poured into your mouths the milk of divine wisdom, who set before you the holy teachings of the Gospels.

What was at stake was nothing less than the preservation of Christianity, and the civilization which had, even if imperfectly, sought to embody its teachings in the world. This was also evidenced by the increasingly hostility to Christians still living in the Levant (the Holy Land), as well as those who went on pilgrimage; in 1009, the Fatimid caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah ordered the Church of the Holy Sepulcher – in an act the Catholic Encyclopedia rightly calls a “fit of madness” – razed to the ground.

This was followed by an even broader campaign against Christianity throughout the Levant, culminating in the destruction of thousands of Christian churches.
