Gates: ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ fight was only time Obama showed ‘passion’ for military issues

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates sharply questions President Obama’s “passion” for military matters in his forthcoming memoir, and claims that practically the only time he saw that in the president was during his push to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Catholic chaplains given marching orders barring service to gay couples

RNS () — Catholic military chaplains cannot be forced to witness or bless a same-sex marriage, nor are they allowed to take part in any marriage counseling retreats that are open to gay couples under new rules issued by the Archdiocese for the Military Services.

The rules, sent to chaplains on Sept. 18 by Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, head of the AMS, also bar chaplains from taking part in a funeral for a Catholic if that participation “would give the impression that the church approves of same sex ‘marital’ relationships.”

Allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the military is giving a whole new meaning to unit cohesion

“When I joined the military it was illegal to be homosexual, then it became optional and now it’s legal. I’m getting out before Obama makes it mandatory.”

Goodbye, Good Military Chaplains!

Crews, whose group represents over half of all chaplains serving on active duty, agreed that no chaplains have yet been ordered to perform same-sex ceremonies.

But the retired military chaplain told CNSNews.com that military chaplains have increasingly been facing negative repercussions since the military policy on homosexuality (“Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”) was lifted.

“We already have some examples of a chaplain being pulled from an assignment simply because he forwarded an e-mail that was critical of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy. He was told that ‘You need to be closely supervised.’ He was threatened that he would have to retire early,” Crews said.

“We have another chaplain who asked, “Can I speak about this issue? And the commander told him, ‘If you can’t get in line (with the military policy in support of homosexuality), resign your commission.’ So we have those kind of real life cases that the American public doesn’t realize is going on.” [I am convinced that the Obama Administration is trying to drive good chaplains out of the military.]

Catholics and other churches were MIA in fight against “Don’t Ask. Don’t Tell.”

Besides a large number of military chaplains, few church leaders in America spoke up publicly against the Obama administration’s campaign last year to pass the repeal in Congress.

Notably, while the Vatican had released a statement in 1992 supporting a ban on open homosexuality in the military, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops remained silent on the repeal effort, leaving military Archbishop Timothy Broglio to defend the ban alone. When questioned on the controversy in December 2010, Washington’s Cardinal Donald Wuerl demurred, saying “there isn’t a specific Catholic Church position” on the issue.

“By dishonestly sanctioning the use of federal facilities for ‘marriage counterfeits’ that federal law and the vast majority of Americans have rejected, the Pentagon has launched a direct assault on the fundamental unit of society – husband and wife.”

(CNSNews.com) – A national group representing more than 2,000 military chaplains from evangelical Christian and Orthodox backgrounds said on Wednesday that the Pentagon has launched a “direct assault” on marriage, and the chaplains they endorse will not be allowed to perform same-sex wedding ceremonies under any circumstances.

Don’t ask … don’t shoot. One dead, one injured in “curious” British nuclear sub incident.

LONDON – A shooting aboard a nuclear-powered submarine in an English port Friday left one Royal Navy sailor dead, one critically injured and a third under arrest, police and military officials said.

Police said the incident on HMS Astute, docked in Southampton, southern England, was not terrorism related.

“Two Royal Navy personnel have been involved in a firearms incident at Southampton docks,” Britain’s defense ministry said in a statement. “Sadly, one has now died as a result of his injuries.”

Defense Secretary Liam Fox said he was saddened by the “tragic incident.”

In Obama’s Animal Farm, some sins are more equal than others, and homosexuality is chief among them.

Obviously, Honors has dishonored himself. But it is not at all clear why advocates of open sexuality in the military should be so appalled by his behavior. Do they really find “raunchy” behavior shocking? If so, why do they endorse gay pride parades that exhibit the same juvenile and licentious behavior? According to the media, the videos of Honors contain “homoerotic” skits that satirize the Navy’s “water conservation” efforts. The only part of that which should bother the proponents of an openly gay military is the poking fun at water conservation.

The actress Glenn Close, who prefers to appear in risqué movies on her own terms, let it be known through her publicist that she was terribly offended by the videos, which made use of footage of her visiting the USS Enterprise. Spokesmen for military groups representing gay soldiers also expressed dismay at the conduct of Honors. These groups appeared very eager to prove their disciplinary bona fides and apparently saw in this episode, which involved “anti-gay slurs,” a propagandistic chance to appear pro-gay and pro-discipline at the same time.

Orthodox Rabbi predicts deadly fallout from permitting homosexuality in military

Rabbi Levin, head of Jews for Morality and spokesman for nearly 1000 Orthodox Rabbis across North America, said that the sanctioning of grave immorality removes God’s protection. “We are students of Biblical history,” he said. “We have seen time and time again in Biblical history when Jews and others have forsaken the path of morality that we have paid – society has paid – a bitter price in terms of losing God’s grace and protection.  There have been natural disasters, there have been defeats in wars.”

The prominent Rabbi warned, “It is very apparent to me, that at such a time where we are involved with various wars in various fronts and there is a tinderbox situation with Korea, the mid-East and so many areas. It’s painfully apparent to me that to a certain extent we – America in general and our military specifically – are in the greatest danger of losing God’s grace and protection.”

He expressed his concern that “religious people who would want to enlist and serve their country have to feel that if they demonstrate in any way their religious feelings they are going to be court marshaled, disciplined, forcefully taught tolerance.  All of this is immorality and evil, and when one promotes immorality and evil we lose God’s protection and we pay for it in loss of life and limb.  This is our fear.”

Conservative writer: Gays in military can get the job done … but not without a “heavy” cost.

Don’t assume that a homosexualized military would be too wimpy to do it, either. Despite the common stereotypes of homosexuals as limp-wristed pansies, we need to understand that the “gay culture” of interior designers and lisping art museum curators is a modern phenomenon.

For most of the history of mankind, those who engaged in homosexual behavior have actually been rather violent and uncontrolled — not unexpected from a lifestyle choice that epitomizes the lack of self-control.

Think about it — when we see the Sodomites in the Bible, what were they doing? Trying to violently force themselves onto some men. Among the Greeks, those who engaged in homosexuality were often the most violent.

Take the Spartans, for instance. They were the warrior caste par excellence in classical Greece — and they were open practitioners of both adult homosexuality as well as pederasty.

Another example would be the Theban “Sacred Band,” a group of 150 pairs of homosexual lovers who formed the cream of the crop of the military of Thebes, another Greek polis, known for their fierceness and invincibility in battle.

And of course, one need only look at the American prison system to understand the fact that violence and male homosexuality (especially) go hand in hand. So don’t think for a minute that a homosexualized U.S. military would be too afraid of breaking a nail to go roughing up the American people.

“The strength you get from praying the rosary is remarkable. People in the military learn that pretty quickly.”

Ranger Rosary

That’s true, agreed Father Bill Devine, a military chaplain in Iraq.

“As I travel around, celebrating Mass or talking with Marines, I see the rosary hanging inside their vehicles, tanks and living quarters,” Father Devine wrote to Ranger Rosary volunteers. “They have it hung over their racks or on their flak jackets. Many wear them around their necks. They are an ever-constant reminder of the power of Our Lady’s intercession and protection on these young men.”

Repeal of “Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell” is just one more “stealthy” way liberals plan to “gut” the military.

(CNSNews.com) – A nationwide survey of 1,000 likely voters found that 59 percent of Democrats think that members of Congress should consider the opinions of homosexual advocacy groups over the opinions of top military commanders when considering a repeal of the law prohibiting homosexuality in the military.

The survey also showed that half of Democrats support penalizing soldiers opposed to homosexuality, including those who oppose it for religious reasons.

“Americans understand that the current push for sexual minorities in the military is motivated by politics, not principle,” Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, said in a statement about the poll results on Tuesday.

YOU Must Act Today to Stop Repeal of the Ban on Gays Openly Serving in the Military

Time is running out.

Tomorrow, May 27th, both the Senate and the House plan to vote on whether to repeal the long-standing statutory ban on homosexuals openly serving in the military. As a result of  the increased  pressure on the White house and Congress by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocacy groups, the vote is scheduled without first obtaining the planned Pentagon report due later in the year.

According to reports, Congressmen are being deluged with phone calls and mail to pressure them to repeal the ban.

Now it’s up to YOU! Please contact (phone or e-mail) the key senators listed below by tomorrow, May 27th. Let them know that you oppose repeal of the long-standing ban on gays openly serving in the military. Ask your family and friends to do the same.

Abortion President Obama orders mandatory “Plan B” drug for U.S. military health facilities

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Late Thursday, the Obama administration issued a new order for the U.S. military requiring all military hospitals and health centers to stock the morning after pill. The Department of Defense will soon begin having military medical facilities stock the Plan B drug, which can sometimes cause an abortion.

The Obama administration’s decision came after the Pentagon’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, an advisory panel, made the recommendation to stock the drug. The PPTC suggested stocking both Plan B and the Next Choice generic of the morning after pill.

The decision is the latest to have President Barack Obama overturning pro-life policies during the Bush administration and follows him forcing Americans to pay for abortions and embryonic stem cell research with their tax dollars.
