Yes, Romney was the problem

The fact is liberal Republicans do not win presidential races.  The obvious reason for this is that RINOs do not offer much of a contrast to a Democrat, or at least a contrast so weak it does not motivate voters to support them.   You would think we would have learned this lesson from the McCain and Dole debacles.   To make things worse, Romney even agreed with Obama on numerous occasions during the debates, missing great opportunities to instead attack the president.  With the economy collapsing all around us, voters were simply not looking for Obama-light.

Moreover, Romney’s strategy of looking presidential but saying nothing controversial was an asinine strategy.  All one has to do is watch the old Reagan/Carter debates to see how Reagan strived to show contrast with Carter at every opportunity.  While Reagan was always civil in the way he stated things, he tore Carter’s head off every chance he got.

The list of explosive issues ignored by Romney goes far beyond those that Romney himself was weak on.  Take, for example, the Fast and Furious and Benghazi scandals, both of which involved the deaths of Americans and a subsequent cover-up by this administration.  The latter scandal, especially, was ripe for Romney to exploit, given the new evidence that Obama refused to assist Americans under attack and then lied to the American public about the reason for the attack.  This is an impeachable offense but Romney chose to ignore this issue altogether.

Look who parks their cash at Romney’s Bain Capital Management

Government-worker pension funds are the chief beneficiaries of Bain’s economic stewardship. New York-based Preqin uses public documents, news accounts and Freedom of Information requests to track private-equity holdings. Since 2000, Preqin reports, the following funds have entrusted some $1.56 billion to Bain:

* Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund ($2.2 million)

* Indiana Public Retirement System ($39.3 million)

* Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System ($177.1 million)

* The Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension System ($19.5 million)

* Maryland State Retirement and Pension System ($117.5 million)

* Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada ($20.3 million)

* State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio ($767.3 million)

* Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System ($231.5 million)

* Employees’ Retirement System of Rhode Island ($25 million)

* San Diego County Employees Retirement Association ($23.5 million)

* Teacher Retirement System of Texas ($122.5 million)

* Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System ($15 million)

These funds aggregate the savings of millions of unionized teachers, social workers, public-health personnel and first responders. Many would be startled to learn that their nest eggs are incubated by the company that Romney launched and the financiers he hired.

The public record proves that Romney is way too liberal to be taken seriously by conservative Republicans

Despite recent statements across the country by Governor Mitt Romney claiming he’s pro-life, pro-family and a committed conservative, a broad investigation of his actual statements, actions, and public positions over the years indicates that he has spent his entire career speaking and governing as a liberal – and that his new found conversion to conservatism very likely coincides with his candidacy for the presidency.

The information in this report is gleaned from public records, press accounts, internet web sites and research (as well as personal observation) by my organization, MassResistance, a grass-roots pro-family group that has observed Governor Romney for over a decade. We have analyzed his legislation, met with his staff, lobbied for and against his agenda (depending what it is) and otherwise compiled considerable research on his administration.

We believe this report is necessary due to a calculated effort by the Romney campaign to revise his history and portray the Governor as far more conservative than the record indicates. Already, the Governor’s staff is making appointments with the nation’s leading conservative leaders to convince them that he should be the standard bearer for the conservative movement in the upcoming presidential elections.

We have also been alarmed by misleading and glowing accounts about Romney which have appeared in the conservative media over the past year. The fact that these articles were based upon sloppy research and material supplied by the Romney camp gave us great incentive to set the record straight. Few national political writers have bothered to speak with any MassResistance member, or for that matter anyone critical of Romney’s record.

Newt’s Revenge: King Of Bain – When Mitt Romney Came To Town

Capitalism made America great – free markets, innovation, hard work – the building blocks of the American Dream. But in the wrong hands some of those dreams can turn into nightmares. Democrats always lie. Democrats declare Romney pro-life. Republicans take note.

Mitt Romney’s not a flip-flopper on abortion after all, a top Democratic campaign group said Saturday.

Priorities USA, the pro-President Obama political organization led by a former White House press aide, argued in a memo that the Republican presidential candidate has been pro-life all along — throughout his time as governor of Massachusetts and as a two-time presidential candidate.

Mitt Romney: Is he lying to the right … or to the left … or both?

Mitt Romney was firm and direct with the abortion rights advocates sitting in his office nine years ago, assuring the group that if elected Massachusetts governor, he would protect the state’s abortion laws. Then, as the meeting drew to a close, the businessman offered an intriguing suggestion — that he would rise to national prominence in the Republican Party as a victor in a liberal state and could use his influence to soften the GOP’s hard-line opposition to abortion.

Does Mitt Romney believe the Mormon myths?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) has a habit of crying “Not fair!” when the media draw attention to its exotic beliefs. I sympathise – up to a point. If Mormons believe that the angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith and showed him a new Christian testament written on gold plates, that’s up to them. Seen from a secular perspective, the episode isn’t any stranger than angelic visitations in the Bible or Koran. Likewise, the Mormon claims that God lives near a planet called Kolob and that humans can become gods of their own universes aren’t intrinsically odder than transubstantiation. And why keep raising the topic of polygamy more than a century after the LDS abandoned it?

But we’re entitled to keep prodding when a religion goes out of its way to rewrite what scientists and historians have discovered about the world – as fundamentalist Christianity does when it offers us the nonsense of “scientific Creationism”. And the truth is that Mormonism, uniquely among large-scale religions, is built around an elaborate counter-historical fantasy.

Article explains essentials of Mormonism, and why it runs counter to authentic Christianity.

by Bob Stanley

This is the best explanation of Mormonism that I have ever seen.

I can attest to some of this since I attended their introductory brain washing class at their showroom next to the Mormon temple in Washington D.C. years ago.

One of my Mormon friends took me there in hopes of converting me. I thought it a good opportunity to study what they teach and from the source. I was very uneasy at the show from the very beginning and saw many errors.

The article is correct in that they do not cover their most outlandish beliefs at the beginning of their spiel. I do not know if any of you heard the Mormon who called the Rush Limbaugh show a few days ago and explained that they are Christian in all respects except they cannot accept the Nicene Creed. Must be because the Nicene Creed mentioned the Catholic Church by name.

http://www.thecatholictreasurechest.com/creeds.htm

How anyone can believe what they teach is beyond me.

Their BOM (book of Mormon) elevates itself above the Bible. I have never had a Mormon explain Galatians 1:6-10 to me. “Another Gospel “?, the BOM. “An Angel from Heaven”? Moroni. “Let him be ANATHEMA”? Not only is anathema (cursed) mention once but twice. Do you agree that those verses alone seem to be directly aimed at Mormonism?

Editor’s note: Mormons, like Jehovah’s Witnesses, worship another Jesus Christ, who cannot possibly be the Jesus that true Christians know and love. Hence, these groups claim to be Christian, but are not, since they actually worship false gods. The linked article, written by a former Jehovah’s Witness, now Catholic,  explains all this in substantial detail.

Is pro-life Romney really just a political opportunist/chameleon?

Let’s review the record:

  • On his 1994 campaign flyer, Romney lists “Retain a woman’s right to choose” as one of his foremost matters.
  • In 1994 the Boston Globe also reported Romney’s stance on the RU-486 abortion pill, quoting Romney as saying “I would favor having it available”.
  • During a debate in 1994, Romney stated “I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country”. He further stated “I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it”.
  • Romney claimed in 2005 that while he was running for governor in 2002, was “personally pro-life” yet still had a pro-life “conversion” in 2004.
  • After his pro-life conversion based on embryonic stem cell research, Mitt stated that such research does not destroy human life, even though he believes life begins at conception and continued to support such research.
  • Instituted a health care program in Massachusetts that includes a $50 co-pay for abortion at taxpayer’s expense, after his “pro-life conversion”.
  • Gave Planned Parenthood an instrumental role on the payment policy board in his Massachusetts healthcare plan, after his “pro-life conversion”.
  • Appointed a pro-choice judge, Matthew Nestor, to a lifetime appointment on a Massachusetts court, after his “pro-life conversion”.

Editor’s note: Contrary to Pat Robertson’s recent comments, Mitt Romney … a Mormon … is not even authentically Christian.

Obama and Romney: Ideological brothers?

First, he (Romney) is directly to blame for same-sex marriage in Massachusetts. While its supreme court instructed the state assembly to enact a law legalizing same-sex marriage, the assembly never did. Undeterred, Romney, with no legal authority whatsoever, ordered county clerks to start issuing wedding licenses to homosexual couples or get fired.

Note well: no law has ever been passed in Massachusetts to legalize same-sex marriage. The supreme court gave the assembly 180 days to pass such a law, but it didn’t do it. Homosexual marriage is still technically against the law in the Bay State.

So Gov. Romney violated state law when he legalized homosexual marriage by executive fiat. he ordered state employees to break state law or face the threat of termination. He will never be able to run away from that, and thus it is no surprise that sanctity of marriage got scant mention in his Values Voter Summit speech.

Second, he has also fatally wounded himself by pushing RomneyCare through in Massachusetts, a state version of ObamaCare. We are seeing in Massachusetts what government-run medical care and a health insurance mandate looks like in action. The cost of health care is skyrocketing, the cost of health insurance is skyrocketing, folks are gaming the system by waiting until they get sick to get coverage (because it’s cheaper to pay the fine while you’re healthy), businesses are dumping their employees into the public system, fewer doctors are taking Medicare patients, and one doctor after another is leaving the state or retiring early.

The more people become aware of the eerie similarities between RomneyCare and ObamaCare, the farther Romney’s star will fall.

And third, to make matters grotesquely worse for Mitt, RomneyCare provides the cheapest abortions in the nation. For just a $50 co-pay, a woman can arrange to have her baby butchered in the womb. No wonder sanctity of life got one scant mention in Romney’s Values Voter Summit speech.
