Cardinal Dolan waxes ecumenical at NY mosque: “You love God, we love God and he is the same God.”

Cardinal Dolan stressed that Catholics and Muslims have a mutual love of the United States and of the religious freedom that this country affords, especially the ability to meet with people of different beliefs that would not be possible in some other nations.

“Your love of marriage and family, your love of children and babies, your love of freedom — religious freedom particularly– your defense of life, your desire for harmony and unity and your care for others, your care for God’s creation and your care for those who are in need,” the cardinal said, were Islamic values also shared by Catholics and areas where there could be mutual cooperation.

He likened Muslims to earlier waves of Roman Catholic immigrants who some 150 years ago faced the same challenge of “how to become loyal, responsible, patriotic Americans without losing their faith.”

Editor’s note – According to the Catechism:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”330 LG 16; cf. NA 3.

This passage appears to place the Muslims in the non-Christian “first place” – superior even to the Jews. It also rather naively takes Muslim claims at face value – rather than properly considering the weight of 14 centuries of historical evidence – much of it to the contrary.

Like the Cardinal, the Catholic Catechism appears to be politically correct, to the liberal extreme. Barack Obama himself couldn’t have said all this any better!

Mosque: “A symbol of the rise of Islam”

Masjid Omar ibn Al-Khattab, Los Angeles, California, USA

From Islamicity.com

In Ramadaan of 1414 (1994 CE) Hijri, Masjid (Mosque) Omar formally opened its doors. It was the culmination of over fifteen years of work by hundreds of volunteers to establish the masjid. The land for Masjid Omar was bequeathed by an old woman in 1398 Hijri (1977 CE) who desired to help the cause of Islam. Her donation was followed in turn by donations from untold numbers of benefactors to build the masjid on the land. The masjid is a symbol of the rise of Islam in Los Angeles.

Masjid Omar is located very close to USC, near the corner of Vermont and Exposition.

By modern secularist standards, Barack Obama’s boosterism for Islam violates the “separation between Church and state.”

By modern secularist standards, Barack Obama’s boosterism for Islam violates the “separation between Church and state.” Had George W. Bush held a rosary and modest fish dinner at the White House to mark the beginning of Lent, the ACLU left would have freaked out. But these same secularists didn’t mind Barack’s “Iftar dinner” last Friday night.

That is, until he wimped out on his endorsement of the Ground Zero mosque. Now his dinner looks to them more like the production of Ishtar, as finger-to-the-wind Dems cravenly scramble for cover. The search is on for a “compromise.” Perhaps the self-styled Solomonic Obama can convince the mosque planners to transfer their property rights to NASA. Administrator Charles Bolden could then turn the land into a satellite office for contractors who pursue the space agency’s “perhaps foremost” mission (as explained to him by Obama): “to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science…and math and engineering.”

Every great religious mind, as well as almost every political mind (until about the year 2000) would have to be wrong for same- sex marriage to be right.

Many who disagree with the Catholic Church tend to forget that homosexuality was much more common and approved of by the Roman government in the early Christian era than it is even in 2010. Many in the upper echelons of Greek and Roman culture experimented with all sorts of sexual practices. It would have been far easier for Jesus, the apostles, saints and popes to approve of this conduct than it would to disapprove of it. Christianity might have grown at a faster pace. However, there was a reason for this swimming against the tide, and the faithful accepted it.

This does not appear to be the case today when so many truths are replaced by the whims of the modern world, hence Pope Benedict XVI’s favorite line; “The Dictatorship of Relativism.”  Many on the left howl when the Holy Father uses these words, and yet those churches that have succumbed to these whims of the modern world have seen their numbers plummet, even as their positive mainstream media coverage increases.
