Scandal of the week: Retired Catholic priest officiates at two New Jersey homosexual “weddings”

According to USA Today, gay marriage (in New Jersey) officially became legal at midnight and several couples made sure that they were among the first to get married.

Councilwoman Amy Quinn and partner Heather Jensen were married in Asbury Park with another couple, Steven Brunner and Daniel Baum, in a joint ceremony. “I think it’s wonderful,” the Rev. Thomas Pivinski, who officiated the two weddings, said. “I am just very grateful that the state has recognized the equality of all people.”

Editor’s note: Retired or not, somebody (the local bishop) needs to have a serious talk with Rev. Pivinski. Anyone want to bet whether or not the pope calls him?

Rep. Chris Smith Awarded for His Heroic Pro-Life Efforts

In a gala Americans United for Life is sponsoring tonight, pro-life champion and New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith will receive the 2012 Henry J. Hyde Defender of Life Award for his leadership on pro-life issues in the House of Representatives.

“Congressman Smith has shown unfailing, unflinching leadership for life throughout his 3 decades in Congress,” said Charmaine Yoest, president of AUL.

“Congressman Chris Smith’s heroic defense of life during his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives includes his fight to end taxpayer-funding of abortion, his steadfast leadership to safeguard the health and safety of women against the harmful effects of abortion, and his work to defend the human rights of all human beings both domestically and internationally,” Yoest. “On Capitol Hill, Chris Smith has also joined AUL in calling for an investigation into the misuse of taxpayer funds by the abortion industry, a truly bipartisan effort.”

“You just have to catch the baby’s head. Don’t worry, it’s already dead. ”

As we’ve reported, a dozen pro-life nurses in New Jersey are fighting for their right to follow their conscience and not be forced to assist at abortions.

This quote in The Washington Post by one of the nurses stopped me in my tracks when I read it:

One of the nurses, Fe Esperanza R. Vinoya, said a manager told her: “You just have to catch the baby’s head. Don’t worry, it’s already dead.”

Can you imagine anything more horrific than being forced to “catch” a dead baby’s head? A baby who only minutes before was alive in its mother’s womb?

Editor’s note: Further proof that the depravity of the abortion promoters is bounded neither by humanity or civility, and they have regard for neither God or man.

Dueling Christmas Billboards: Catholic League vs. American Atheists

Days after an atheist group posted a billboard mocking the Christmas holiday at the New Jersey approach to the Lincoln Tunnel, a Catholic organization has responded with its own message on the New York side.

The Catholic League has responded to an atheist billboard in North Bergen with one of their own in New York City by the Lincoln Tunnel.

“You know it’s real,” the newer billboard tells drivers passing the corner of Dyer Avenue and West 31st Street in Manhattan. “This season, celebrate Jesus.”
