What’s really happening in Ukraine/Crimea

Understanding what Vladimir Putin is doing doesn’t require converting a media Beelzebub into a media St. Francis. It does, however, demand that we spit out the simple-minded gruel peddled by the MSM and the well-coiffed spokesbeings for the Washington-Brussels Axis of Putty.

Obama and Obamacare imitates Vatican II – and not in a good way.

Vatican II was totally, radically different.

For one, the scope of the changes made to the Novus Ordo were orders of magnitude larger than those made in any previous revision of the Mass. This was the total destruction of the former Rite, and the fabrication of a totally new Rite on the spot. The changes were totally inorganic: they were imposed in rather brutal fashion from above by the highest Church authority, made virtually overnight and by a small cabal of self-anointed experten, with dozens of Propers literally thrown together overnight, some of which may even have been written by protestants (it is known with certainty that many of the banal prayers of the post-VII Liturgy of the Hours were written by protestant “advisers”).

What is more, while Trent left venerable old Rites in place, the Traditional Latin Mass was declared “abrogated,” even though in reality it wasn’t, and such is essentially impossible, anyway.

For 20 odd years, the TLM was virtually extinct in the canonically regular Church.  But the biggest factor was the enormous, massive nature of the changes, many of which were not even specified by the Council (but, there is an argument they could be inferred from various parts of the Conciliar text, and that argument has varying degrees of merit).

Essentially, the faithful were told that the Mass they had always known and, for the most part, dearly loved, was deficient, bad, even, stultifying, and ineffective of Grace.  They were told how much they hated Latin and how they had never understood anything.

Given that the Mass was the core of the experience of the Faith most Catholics had, both the changes, and the campaign to “sell” them by discrediting the old Mass, caused many Catholic heads to spin so far, they unscrewed themselves and fell off.  In essence.

The basic lines of ‘pro-choice’ rhetoric were sketched out by Catholic theologians, at the residence of America’s most famous Catholic family, nine years before the Roe v. Wade decision.

The Catholic role in repealing the laws on contraception is only part of the story. As Phil Lawler reported in his book, Faithful Departed: The Collapse of Boston’s Catholic Culture, the scheme to legalize abortion took place not in a candle-lit basement where Satanists celebrated black masses, but at the home of America’s leading Catholic family, the Kennedys.

In 1964, Lawler wrote, leftist Catholic priests Robert DrinanCharles Curran and other theologians convened at Hyannis Port, Mass., with the brain trust behind the Senate campaign of Robert F. Kennedy.  They concocted the teaching that abortion could be justified if it were the “lesser of two evils” and that “a blanket prohibition might be more harmful to the common good”  because political leaders might  “impose their own private views on public policy. …The skillful operatives of the Kennedy family would round up the votes to end restrictions on abortion and eventually provide public subsidies. The Jesuit theologians would provide protective cover” and sabotage Catholic teaching in the universities. “Thus, the basic lines of ‘pro-choice’ rhetoric were sketched out by Catholic theologians, at the residence of America’s most famous Catholic family, nine years before the Roe v. Wade decision.”

We’ll take the ’50s any day, when pregnancy was not a health problem and no president would be found fighting for the freedom to kill the unborn.

Mr. Obama sees himself as leading the nation into the 21st century, and he justifies his abortion stand as protecting women’s health.  We can only wonder if he skipped every biology class ever offered in high school and college.  Being pregnant is not a health problem, and living, perfectly viable unborn human beings, in or out of the mother’s womb, don’t have any health problems, unless the will to live is now considered unhealthy.

Yes, we’ll take the ’50s any day, when pregnancy was not a health problem and no president would be found fighting for the freedom to kill the unborn.

In the ’50s, women didn’t think they were in a war with conservatives; they knew they were in a war only with overeager young men. Those young men usually lost, which in turn produced a situation where there was no need for an abortion.

Yeah, we’ll take those days.

We will also take the ’50s presidents who left a legacy for us rather than a stream of blood from our own offspring.

President Truman, who took up after Franklin Roosevelt from 1950 to 1952, faced and reined in the reckless power of the corrupt unions instead of coddling them to buy votes as Barack Obama has done.

He also gave us the Truman Doctrine, which served to halt the expansion of communism in Eastern Europe. Mr. Obama has brought more communistic socialism into a once free nation than any president in history.

When people ( libs) ask why you need larger magazines etc I simply tell them that one never knows when I might run into and be attacked by an Obama armed gang of criminals with guns from Fast and Furious.

Practicing Catholics mostly turned out for Romney, but the majority of Catholics voted for Obama.

The Catholic vote was divided much as was the rest of the nation’s voters, leaning slightly in favor of Obama. A final Gallup poll, reflecting tracking from Nov. 1 to 4, showed Catholics favoring Obama by 52 to 45 percent.
