Why can’t family business owners — Conestoga Wood Specialties and Hobby Lobby in these cases — have the same freedom from government coercion as other exempt parties? Because the government says they can’t.
Not only is the government arbitrarily selective in how it doles out exemptions, it’s also arbitrary in its argument that business owners can’t exercise religious freedom.
“All Your Labors Are Belong to Us!”
…Obamacare, the “law of the land”, contains ever-changing-at-the-whim-of-HHS, politically-expedient mandates, rewards, penalties, rules and regulations with which I cannot rationally or morally treat my patients and run a practice, much-less interpret, implement, or comply.
Millions of Americans have lost coverage because of the healthcare law and must now shop on a defective, insecure government website and sign up for more expensive policies through Federal and State exchanges. Only by logging in as a prospective patient did my office manager and I discover that Aetna was selling plans for which I am a provider-effectively selling my services without even asking, much less informing me that my services would be sold on such a site, under the auspices of new terms with which I will not comply.
Then, after the fact, I received a form letter informing me of Aetna’s “new allowables”. I will not sell my services under such terms. While treated as such, patients and doctors are not commodities worthy of such impersonal, inconsiderate, and cavalier treatment. We choose dignity and personal service over disrespect and form letters…

The Obama administration is being handed a lesson in Christianity 101 as religious leaders rise up to condemn an Obamacare requirement that forces religious organizations to pay for abortifacients or face crippling financial penalties.
“Christian doctrine states it is a sin for a Christian to enable or aid another in doing what the Christian believes to be sin,” states a brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court by a coalition of dozens of prominent Protestant theologians, African-American pastors and participants in the Manhattan Declaration.
Dozens of lawsuits have been filed over the requirement in the Affordable Health Care Act that employers pay for abortifacents. Two cases, involving Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Woods, are pending for review before the Supreme Court.
Even members of Congress have weighed in against the provision, which effectively forces Christians to violate their faith by participating in the killing of unborn children.
Editor’s note: Sen. Murray’s totally wrong-headed point of view is very popular in the Seattle area, where liberal “Catholicism” has been the norm, for many years.
The group Little Sisters of the Poor received a temporary injunction from the Supreme Court protecting them from the controversial HHS contraceptive mandate. The injunction means that the Little Sisters will not be forced to sign and deliver forms tonight authorizing and directing others to provide contraceptives, sterilizations and drugs and devices that cause abortions.
“How dare he say that Catholics should be ‘cheerleaders’ of Obamacare,” Judie Brown, president of the American Life League (ALL), told CNSNews.com. “He’s a pathetic example of a shepherd of the Catholic Church.”
If the former chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and his fellow bishops had spoken out against the “total opposition to Catholic teaching” by prominent Catholics in the Obama administration like Vice President Joe Biden and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and united their flock against the passage of Obamacare, they would not have to deal with the contraceptive mandate now, Brown pointed out.
“[Dolan] is a media darling,” she added. “They promote him as the preeminent Catholic speaker in the U.S. because they know what he’s saying suits their agenda, not what the Church teaches.
Every individual enrolled in a plan that is eligible for federal tax credits and includes coverage of abortion will be forced to pay an additional abortion premium of at least $12 per year with private dollars.
Obamacare mandates that insurance companies then “segregate” any federal affordability tax credits it receives from the individual premiums used to pay for abortions.
The law provides no opt-out for individuals or families who may want to buy a particular plan that fits their health needs but does not include abortion coverage.
In reality, the abortion fee is a dollar or more a month. Doesn’t seem like much, right? Well, those pennies add up. Alliance Defending Freedom does the math.
Say just half of American workers are forced to pay only a dollar each month. That’s $924,000,000 – all funneled into an abortion-on-demand fund each year. That translates to more than 2,000,000 elective abortions that you have been forced to help fund.
What’s more, Obamacare has a “gag rule” that forces employers to keep mum about which plans include an abortion premium until the time they enroll.
It gets better, yet. Planned Parenthood – the largest abortion provider in the country – helped write all these mandates.

“I spent two years defending Obamacare. I had constituents scream at me, spit at me and call me names that I can’t put in print. The congressman was not re-elected in 2010 mainly because of the anti-Obamacare anger. When the congressman was not re-elected, I also (along with the rest of our staff) lost my job. I was upset that because of the health care issue, I didn’t have a job anymore but still defended Obamacare because it would make health care available to everyone at, what I assumed, would be an affordable price. I have now learned that I was wrong. Very wrong.”

An Obamacare phone operator who had a conversation with Fox News host Sean Hannity lost her job on Thursday.
On Monday, the “Hannity” host called up the Affordable Care Act phone number provided by the federal government. Eventually, he was connected with Erling Davis, a phone operator working for a private contract company .
Hannity quizzed Davis about technical issues facing the government healthcare website and engaged in some small talk during their 10-minute conversation.
However, on Thursday Davis revealed that she was fired by her employer over the conversation. For his part, Hannity told listeners of his radio show that he will compensate Davis for a year’s salary tax free and try to help her find a new job.
“They fired me from my job,” Davis told Hannity while being interviewed on his radio program.
A transcribed the exchange between Davis and Hannity reads as follows:
Editor’s note: They should put VP Joe Biden to work at the Obamacare call center. That would certainly provide some amusing conversation!
At Oklahoma Wesleyan University we are filing suit against the Obama Administration, Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius and the Affordable Care Act because we believe. We believe whether you are Catholic or Jewish or whether you are Mormon, Methodist, Mennonite or Muslim that you should be free to follow your faith in matters of morality and contraception. We believe women should be free from any obligation to pay for a drug they find immoral and will never use. We believe that the racial genocide at the hands of a racist abortion industry must be stopped. We believe in personal privacy that no judge, legislator or President has any right to violate. We believe our nation’s girls and their sexuality should be treated with dignity rather than being degraded. We believe in a culture of life and not a culture of death.
We are filing suit because we believe God is God, not the government and that “we must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

Obamacare has a drawn a line in healthcare, and it is a line that we cannot cross.
Many people have been paralyzed with fear because they don’t know what to do about this. But here are 2 simple things you can do to start making a difference right away:
With all the attention focused on Ted Cruz’s attempt to defund Obamacare in the continuing resolution, some of the law’s parade of horribles are momentarily out of view. Come October 1, those horribles will resume their onward march as the law’s impact on subsidizing elective abortion will begin to become clearer.
“You could call the Affordable Care Act the ‘Abortionist Full-Employment Act’ given all the new income flowing to the abortion lobby, over the objection of an increasingly pro-life America,” Yoest said. “While defunding the law is a good place to begin, that won’t solve the layers of anti-life mandates impacting ordinary Americans. Repealing Obamacare is the only way to ensure that life is protected from its intrusive policies.”
The AUL president said the HHS Preventive Care guidelines (which adopt the FDA’s mislabeling of abortion-causing drugs like ella as contraception, and then require their coverage as preventive care) have been in place since August 2012 but its coercive reach continues to expand. Each month, more private insurance plans are required to comply with the anti-life mandate when they lose their “grandfathered” status.
So who actually is behind Common Core? Try Bill Gates, UNESCO, George Soros, Bill Ayres, Rupert Murdoch, Jeb Bush, Marc Tucker (of Goals 2000 fame), David Coleman (runs the SATs), the Pearson Foundation (monopoly owner of nearly every American textbook publisher) and a bunch of non-governmental trade groups like the National Governors Association – to name a few, all worthy of future Google searches.
It turns out there is quite a lot to worry about. First, Common Core is not about improving education; it’s about transforming American society into a global community that cares – about social justice, about tolerance,
In recent months, the mandate has become the subject of dozens of lawsuits from over 200 plaintiffs arguing that it forces them to violate their deeply-held religious convictions. While houses of worship and their affiliated organizations are not required to provide the coverage, other religious non-profits are subject to a modified version of the regulation, and for-profit companies run by religious individuals receive no protection at all.
Dr. Marguerite Duane, a family practitioner in Washington, D.C., told CNA that “women should not bear the burden” of the medical side effects of contraceptives and abortion, stressing that “it takes two to plan a family.”
Under the mandate, she argued, “childbearing is seen as a curse instead of as a gift to society,” and this attitude “does not help women, it harms women.”
“The HHS mandate is completely unjust: it goes against women, it goes against good healthcare, and most importantly, it goes against the right to religious freedom.”
Editor’s note: What passes for “feminism” in today’s world is nothing more than the radical agenda of a relatively small number of politically connected, self-loathing women.
The Catholic hospitals’ group, led by Sister Carol Keehan, joined other prominent Catholics in defying the bishops to support passage of the health law at a critical stage of the congressional debate.
