Difficulties understanding the mind of “the Oracle of Santa Marta”

For someone complaining about “downers,” the Pope seems to constantly tear down the faithful. As I’ve noted before, his language is that of a prophet, not a pastor. He is Isaiah, eveighing against the wickedness and hypocrisy of the Jews, i.e. Catholics. (In fact, the last time he called us hypocrites, the language was practically word-for-word from Isaiah. And that was two weeks ago, for those of you keeping score at home.)

When the Pope speaks of the “formalism” of hypocrites who say “It is not possible,” the Bear thinks of the two Argentine lesbians with their sham marriage and the baby they’ve managed to obtain. They’re set for their own Confirmation and baby’s baptism April 5th at the cathedral in Cordoba. Is it the formalism of the hypocrite to have serious reservations about this? Is that the sort of thing the Pope has in mind?

Seen on the web: Bishops in handcuffs?

My own apostolic zeal is for protecting my own family, participating in parish life, educating my children in the Faith, and — when opportune — speaking with non-Catholics about the Faith, and extending a welcome to these people to investigate the Faith, with myself as a kind of “sherpa,” guiding them if they show the least interest. My wife and I also give monies to our parish, to the diocese, and to various Catholic charities.

We are also quick to question the actions — or inaction — of our priests and bishops, such as when the Campaign for Human Development is giving monies to pro-abortion/pro-homosexual/pro-contraception organizations.

Of course, we never get more than a non-response to these queries — i.e., no response or acknowledgment at all of our complaint; or a non-sequitur response; or words alone, with corrective actions never taken.

I have learned — in large measure — to ignore the bishops and their “social justice” pleas. There is no effort to correct decades-long corruption of these programs by out-and-out leftists and heterodox “catholics.”

Bishops and priests will regain credibility when I see them in handcuffs — protesting, for example, at the White House (USA), or at the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court. Where were they, for example, when the Court was hearing arguments in the Hobby Lobby case? Where were they when Sebelius handed down her forced abortion-funding and forced contraception funding ukase? If they aren’t in the streets protesting and getting arrested, I can’t believe a word that issues from their mouths. Where — pray tell — where is THEIR “evangelization”?

In Another Groundbreaking Act, Pope Francis Confesses His Sins in Public

Pope Francis continued his rock star turn yesterday by breaking with tradition and publicly confessing his sins while leading a penitential liturgy in St. Peter’s Basilica.

The pope, dressed in a simple white alb and purple stole, spent about three minutes kneeling before the priest’s open confessional and received absolution.

Editor’s note: There’s nothing “groundbreaking” about a Catholic going to Confession – especially during Lent.

The President Obama – Pope Francis Meeting. Both sides are probably lying.

by Doug Lawrence

Last week’s Obama – Pope Francis meeting lasted for more than an hour and included a number various Obama Regime officials. The Regime claimed that they concentrated on “social justice issues” while the Vatican said it was all about religious liberty.

Odds are, it was really about Russia, Syria and Iran – and trying to get the Vatican to “butt out” this time – so the Regime might be able to avoid further embarrassment.

No matter what was actually discussed behind closed doors, it was a slam-dunk win for the President, since any time a U.S. President gets a photo op standing next to a popular pope, it’s invariably good for at least a few points in the polls.

Let’s pretend the doctrine is untouchable. Then let’s do as we please and call it “pastoral”.

Communion For Adulterers: Is The Outcome Already Decided?

So much for the concept of collegiality!

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis on Wednesday permanently removed a German bishop from his Limburg diocese after his 31 million-euro ($43-million) new residence complex caused an uproar among the faithful.

The Vatican said Monsignor Manfred Grothe, currently an auxiliary bishop in Paderborn, would take over but that Tebartz-van Elst would get a new job “at the opportune time.”

Pope Francis “fires” fellow bishop over financial embarrassment.

Editor’s note: Maybe the good bishop would enjoy running the Vatican Bank?
