A mere fifty or sixty years ago I doubt you’d find any practicing Catholic who would say they supported gay ‘marriage’.

People are getting weary of fighting immorality on all levels because what is and isn’t moral has been warped.  Things aren’t always so black and white anymore.  Where black and white once held the bounds of moral and immoral firmly in place, they have now given way to shades of grey.

What God determined as immoral, has been redefined. Lust has become love. Marriage between a man and a woman as God defined it, as been redefined by mere man.

When lust was redefined as “love” people forgot when REAL LOVE meant.
Today’s “love” is a rip off.  A counterfeit of what real love is.

So women read “romance” novels and sigh over what they see as romantic love. While men read porn magazines and lust after the very thing that will lead them to Hell.

We are being desensitized and most of us don’t even know it.

Men formerly addicted to pornography explain how they managed to stop

computerbash

Jesus said, “Everyone who sins is a slave to sin,” and no one knows that more than I, who once was enslaved to lust through pornography. I was a slave because I could not control my desires; they controlled me.

How… did the tiniest of minorities — no more than 2% of the population — get in a position to silence the beliefs and punish the practices of hundreds of millions?

In free societies, pornography largely remains an often frowned upon matter of private adult autonomy while the global homosexual movement is increasingly gaining acceptance of its agenda as a civil rights issue demanding public approval. While pornographers like Hugh Hefner in the Playboy Mansion have historically been content with being unhindered by otherwise disapproving individuals in a “live and let live” libertarian legal regime, Ruse writes that modern homosexuals will brook no such agreement to disagree, but rather “want Christians” (and all others) “prostrate before them and before the law.”

Ruse’s article in the end indicates the reason for these differing demands for autonomy and approval. “What we know,” he writes, is this. No matter how many Christians they persecute and prosecute, no matter how much society tolerates or even celebrates their sexual proclivities, no matter how many Gay-Straight Alliances are foisted upon our public schools, none of that will still in them the nagging feeling that what they do in bed is unnatural, and their attraction to their own sex is morally wrong. That nagging voice will never go entirely away.

Homosexual demands for public approval thus manifest a vain, twisted effort to achieve public moral compensation from society for private behavior that simply cannot be right. Falsehood cannot coexist with freedom, as the latter will expose the former. Thus advocates of a false agenda must suppress freedom with force.

Best advice: Don’t start viewing pornography.

Jason King, chair of the theology department at Saint Vincent’s College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, wrote about the accessibility and damage of pornography in his latest piece at Catholic Moral Theology. King summed up the situation well when he wrote that people used to have to exert an effort to view pornography. Now you have to exert an effort to NOT view it.

…shame … is the one bad thing we need more of.

shame

I’m 33. I was earning my slutty shame when some of you were buying your first Britney Spears CDs. Sorry to destroy all your illusions about my church-going formative years, but the closest I got to a church between the ages of 14 and 26 was weddings, funerals, and that time I traded a pack of Newports for a joint from a tranny prostitute in front of some cathedral in Manhattan.

I read pornographic literature, and I wrote erotica. I experimented with harder drugs. I stole another girl’s boyfriend on purpose. I fancied both men and women.

I was going to go into a lot of detail in this column, but I think that’s enough. I keep writing about all the slutty things I did between the ages of 15 and 26 and then deleting it, because I am ashamed of it. And – this is a weird sentence – I am proud to be ashamed of it.

Plain talk for teens about homosexuality

With the ubiquity of media attention given to same-sex unions, parents will not lack teaching moments. Setting the stage is a good idea. Assure your teenagers that you think that being ordered in respect to sexuality is difficult for everyone; indeed, in our culture, most heterosexuals are out-of-control sexually.

Tell them you would be as reluctant to allow a cohabiting couple to share a bedroom in your home as you would be to allow a homosexual couple to do so. But that, generally, both would be welcome at your dinner table. Mention that you appreciate the dignity and gifts of all human beings; they are all beloved children of God.
