Seen on the web: What went wrong with the Catholic Church?

Matt said…

I’ll answer the Holy Father’s question as to what went wrong in our proclamation, in our entire way of living the Christian life, that allowed such a thing to happen.

What went wrong is the fact that the great majority of bishops, priests, and theologians in Western lands have embraced every heresy of modernism, liberalism, socialism, multiculturalism, and sentimentality that they could find, in a pathetic attempt to be fashionable. Most of our shepherds no longer know what the Gospel is, let alone possess the fitness to proclaim it. You need but look at the headlines of today to see that the smoke of Satan still lingers heavily in the Catholic Church. For instance, why were the American bishops (practically to a man) entirely onboard with the DREAM Act, which would have rewarded criminal intrusions into our country on a hitherto unprecedented scale? Why did the USCCB issue a statement that announced how willing the organization would have been to support Obama’s health care reform tyranny, but for the fact that it “failed to sufficiently protect the unborn” and (horror of horrors!) didn’t do enough to provide for “immigrants, independent of who they are or how they got here.”? Why is the CCHD cutting checks to ACORN and other groups that support abortion and gay marriage? It’s because the majority of Western Catholics, both clergy and laity, no longer love the faith. They’ve decided that, to the extent to which they wish to live the Gospel message at all, that message reduces to being a “nice person,” as the degenerate, urbane, liberal intelligentsia of our suffocating cities define “nice.”

But I ask them this: When did rewarding criminals, bankrupting the country, and supporting tyranny become articles of the Catholic faith? Answer: They never did. The men who support such measures are no longer Catholics but heretics, modernists, wolves in sheeps’ clothing. If anyone should doubt this, just look at their fruits. Look at the cataclysmic decline in mass attendance, in vocations, in holiness of life. Look at their incestuous alliance with that murderous den of vipers, the Democratic Party. Look at corpulent blowhards like Archbishop Timothy Dolan, complacently smiling and waving at openly gay Catholic parishioners.

And I must say that Fr. Barron as well cuts the figure of a sunken priest, a veritable Tim Dolan mini-me. Everything from his personal appearance to his vocal inflection to his swimmingly sophistical explication of the Pope’s message, announces to the world that he is no true Father, no protector of pilgrims. For crying out loud, child sex trafficking in the Third World has nothing to do with the clergy sex abuse scandal. That was brought about by the fact that homosexual men and their gay agenda have been infiltrating the seminaries for decades now, with the active assistence of many, even within the Vatican itself. And the demonic Fr. Maciel being appointed the synod of bishops for priestly formation certainly didn’t help, either.

This is getting ridiculous. The Church needs to stand up and realize that it cannot compromise with the modern world, that liberalism is a sin, and that our enemies will gladly use our own stupidity and sentimentality against us. We need to preach the truth and only the truth. Until we do, Our Lady’s garments will be torn to shreds by the feral dogs that this decadent civilization has become.

Priestly abuse scandal IS indeed a homosexual problem

A U.S. psychiatrist with experience in treating priests with pedophilia disagrees that there is no link between homosexuality and sexual abuse of children. “Cardinal Bertone’s comments are supported completely by the John Jay study report and by clinical experience,” Dr. Richard Fitzgibbons told CNA.

“In fact, every priest whom I treated who was involved with children sexually had previously been involved in adult homosexual relationships.”

Cover-up of the role of homosexuals in the Catholic priestly abuse scandal must end

GAY COVER-UP MUST END

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on two news stories released today by the Associated Press:

One of the AP stories on priestly sexual abuse admits that “The overwhelming majority of the victims were adolescents. That means very few guilty priests were pedophiles, a term mental health professionals reserve for those who target pre-pubescent children.” Fine. But then it says something which is positively remarkable: “Even though about 80 percent of victims were boys, the John Jay researchers and other experts on sex offenders say it does not mean the perpetrators were gay.” So what would they be? Heterosexual?

The AP article relied on the extraordinary remark by Margaret Smith, a professor who worked on the John Jay study. She said that while Donohue “quoted the study’s data correctly,” I nonetheless “drew an unwarranted conclusion.” What? That most of the molesters have been gay? Here is what she said: “The majority of the abusive acts were homosexual in nature. That participation in homosexual acts is not the same as sexual identity as a gay man.” So if two men sodomize each other, no one really knows if this qualifies as gay sex. Now I must admit that when I was studying for my doctorate in sociology at NYU, they never taught me such logic.

Both AP stories say the reason why there were so many male victims is because the priests did not have access to girls as altar servers. Nonsense. There have been girl altar servers in some U.S. dioceses since 1983, and almost everywhere since 1994. The statistics actually show that the more priests have access to girls, the less likely it is for girls to be abused.

Here’s the tally. As reported in 2004, between 1950 and 2002, 81 percent of the victims were male; in 2005, it stayed the same; in 2006, it dropped to 80 percent; in 2007, it climbed to 82 percent; in 2008, it jumped to 84 percent; and in 2009, it stayed at 84 percent.

In other words, even though priests have less access to males, homosexual priests are molesting them at a higher rate. It’s time to end the gay cover-up once and for all.

Data indicates a homosexual problem: 81 percent of priestly abuse victims were male. 75 percent post-pubescent.

ATTEMPTS TO CENSOR DONOHUE FAIL

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on recent attempts to censor him:

TV producers have been telling me for years that my critics have implored them never to invite me back on any program. But they always do. While the media are overwhelmingly liberal, they have an obligation to offer different points of view. Hence, their non-stop invitations asking me to speak.

The latest attempt to silence me comes from GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), Call to Action and the Interfaith Alliance. The three left-wing organizations have joined hands demanding that the media “ignore Bill Donohue.” Their complaint? My telling the truth about the role homosexual priests have played in the abuse scandal.

The data collected by John Jay College of Criminal Justice show that between 1950 and 2002, 81 percent of the victims were male and 75 percent of them were post-pubescent. In other words, three out of every four victims have been abused by homosexuals. By the way, puberty, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, begins at age 10 for boys.

No problem can be remedied without an accurate diagnosis. And any accurate diagnosis that does not finger the role that homosexuals have played in molesting minors is intellectually dishonest. The cover-up must end. And so must attempts to muzzle my voice. Everything I am saying is what most people already know, but are afraid to say it. It’s time for some straight talk.

Priestly abuse is primarily a homosexual scandal: Most molesters are gay men. Most victims are male teens.

PUSH FOR CELIBACY IMPLIES GAY GUILT

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addresses the spate of articles on priestly celibacy:

Reports in Ireland and Germany of decades-old cases of priestly sexual abuse have triggered an array of articles, surveys and talk-show discussions on the need for the Catholic Church to end the celibacy requirement. The implication, of course, is that more heterosexuals, and less homosexuals, would therefore be drawn to the priesthood, thus alleviating the problem.

The reasoning is sound: as we have seen from several studies—including the one just released by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops—80 percent of the victims are male. Just as important, the majority of the victims are post-pubescent. In other words, we are talking about homosexuality, not pedophilia.

Those who fancy themselves progressive would never, of course, say there is a homosexual link to priestly sexual abuse. But they know it to be true in their heart of hearts. For example, no one seriously believes that pedophiles would be inclined to marry if celibacy were lifted—they are not interested in adults. But surely homosexuals would find the seminaries and parishes less attractive if most of the men were married.

So as not to be misunderstood, it is nonsense to say that homosexuality causes sexual abuse. Moreover, it is both untrue, and unfair, to say that most gay priests are molesters. They are not. But it is also true that most of the molesters are gay. Is this not the unstated predicate of progressives pushing for an end to celibacy? Why else recommend doing away with it?

In short, the only difference between most progressives and most conservatives on this issue is that the latter are not afraid to identify the elephant in the room.
