Key factors behind the recent widespread mob riots

In Philadelphia, a group of 20-40 youths went on a rampage in Center City August 1st, resulting in 59 people being beaten and briefly hospitalized. Last Thursday, a mob ran through the Wisconsin State Fair at closing time, beating up people at random. In London, citizens have been besieged by three straight nights of hellish rioting, even as that rioting has spread to other parts of the nation. The common themes? A racial component, studiously ignored wherever possible; technology that makes mob organization far easier than ever before; and the undeniable relationship between welfare state policies and the expansion of underclass mores.

The racial element of these attacks is becoming impossible to ignore. In Philadelphia, black Mayor Michael A. Nutter, much to his credit, stepped into the breach. After telling black youths, “You have damaged your own race,” he announced an increase in police patrols in some neighborhoods, called on citizens to monitor the streets, and moved up a weekend curfew on minors to 9 p.m. Parents will also be subjected to increasing fines each time one of their children gets caught violating the curfew. “Take those God-darn hoodies down, especially in the summer,” said Nutter. “Pull your pants up and buy a belt ‘cause no one wants to see your underwear or the crack of your butt.”

True or False: The U.S. Constitution Defines Blacks As Three-Fifths of a Person?

It’s a tired refrain – the Founders were racists, the Declaration didn’t really mean all men, the Constitution is pro-slavery. It’s also a gross distortion of our history – as King well knew when he invoked the promise that “all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” at the heart of the Founding.

The Constitution, contrary to what the New York Times would have you believe, does not classify people according to race. Free blacks in the North and the South were counted on par with whites for purposes of apportionment. As for enslaved blacks, it was the Southern states that wanted to count them as full persons, thereby inflating pro-slavery representation in the House. The three-fifths compromise was aimed at preventing Southern states from magnifying their own political power by holding slaves.

Yet this myth of a racist Founding has, unfortunately, become deeply entrenched in academia and among the chattering classes. It’s taught in high schools and colleges nationwide and has become unquestionable dogma for many.

Quiz: What do Sarah Palin, Dan Quayle, and Pope Benedict have in common?

The Pope, the Palins, and the Pursuit of True Happiness.

“Catholic Church officials in the Windy City have forged unholy alliances with radical left-wingers and enablers who undermine the faith…”

Exhibit A: the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office for Racial Justice and one of its most notorious priest, the Rev. Michael Pfleger.

This week, Chicago cardinal Francis George — who also is president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops — presided over a gala ceremony honoring Pfleger with a “lifetime-achievement award” for his “service in pursuit of dismantling racism, injustice, and inequalities on behalf of African Americans and all people of color.”

How, pray tell, has Pfleger achieved the officially sanctioned Catholic vision of “racial justice”? By aligning himself with the nation’s worst racial demagogues and using his pulpit at the St. Sabina Catholic Church on Chicago’s Southside to promote poisonous identity politics.

Pfleger (who is white) grabbed the spotlight during the 2008 presidential campaign with jive-talking defenses of his fellow race-hustler and President Obama’s spiritual mentor, the Rev. Jeremiah “‘God Damn America!’ and ‘AmeriKKKa!’” Wright, and Jew-bashing hate-monger Louis “Judaism Is a ‘Gutter Religion’” Farrakhan. The racial-justice award winner called the latter a “great man” and welcomed him to his church.

Pfleger, a member of the Catholics for Obama Committee, stoked further racial division by mocking Hillary Clinton’s skin color and accusing her of “white entitlement.” It’s one thing to ridicule Hillary’s sense of political and ideological entitlement as part of the Clinton dynasty. But the demagogic emphasis on her race was beyond the pale.

The racial component of abortion

Atlanta, GA (LifeNews.com) — Atlanta drivers will soon see billboards all over the city that educate them about the racist component of abortions — that pro-life advocates point out target black Americans. In a city with a large African-American population, the billboards are already sparking controversy and they’ve not been put up yet.

The Radiance Foundation is sponsoring a campaign of 65 billboards across town and they should be visible starting on February 15.

“We’re aiming for a lot more, but that’s where we’re at,” Ryan Bomberger, co-founder of the group, recently told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

“This is not a campaign that targets black women,” Bomberger said. “It’s a campaign that exposes an industry that we believe targets African-Americans.”
