Bird of a feather, SoS John Kerry.

On Tuesday, Secretary of State John Kerry continued his bumpy first out-of-the-country tour with an homage to the ugly Americans he represents. Speaking in Germany, he told students, “In America, you have a right to be stupid, if you want to be, and you have a right to be disconnected to somebody else if you want to be. And we tolerate that – we somehow make it through that.”

Editor’s note: This from a guy stupid enough to have chin implant cosmetic surgery, just to make his jaw a bit bigger than Clutch Cargo’s. We ought to change Kerry’s title to Secretary of Stupid.

Stuff the abortion promoters at the Sundance Film Festival obviously missed.

Pro-choice author Magda Denes witnessed abortions while writing her book In Necessity and Sorrow: Life and Death Inside an Abortion Hospital. She was disturbed by seeing the intact body of a baby aborted in the second trimester (5):

I remove with one hand the lid of a bucket … I look inside the bucket in front of me. There is a small naked person there floating in a bloody liquid- plainly the tragic victim of a drowning accident. But then perhaps this was no accident, because the body is purple with bruises and the face has the agonized tautness of one forced to die too soon. Death overtakes me in a rush of madness … I have seen this before. The face of a Russian soldier, lying on a frozen snow covered hill, stiff with death and cold. … A death factory is the same anywhere, and the agony of early death is the same anywhere.

Remarks attributed to Pope Benedict, regarding today’s end of the world forecast

We haven’t been able to get confirmation of this story as yet … but since there may not be much time left … here goes:

Pope Benedict reportedly was asked by a high ranking Vatican official if he had any particular comments or advice for Catholics about the widely promoted claim that Jesus might come again in Judgment, later today.

His Holiness was said to have prayed and reflected for a brief moment.

Then he said, “Tell everybody to look busy!”

Editor’s note: I beg your pardon, but there are (thankfully) very few opportunities to actually use this old joke.

Pope’s condom comments: A “Hell” of a way to promote his new book!

Cardinal George: On the Fr. Pfleger Matter

STATEMENT OF FRANCIS CARDINAL GEORGE, O.M.I.,
ARCHBISHOP OF CHICAGO
Friday, May 30, 2008

Statement of Cardinal Francis George concerning remarks of
Fr. Michael Pfleger about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton during
an address at Trinity United Church of Christ on Sunday May 25, 2008
The Catholic Church does not endorse political candidates. Consequently, while a priest must speak to political issues that are also moral, he may not endorse candidates nor engage in partisan campaigning.Racial issues are both political and moral and are also highly charged. Words can be differently interpreted, but Fr. Pfleger’s remarks about Senator Clinton are both partisan and amount to a personal attack. I regret that deeply.

To avoid months of turmoil in the church, Fr. Pfleger has promised me that he will not enter into campaigning, will not publicly mention any candidate by name and will abide by the discipline common to all Catholic priests.
