A physician explains why she is refusing to participate in Obamacare

“All Your Labors Are Belong to Us!”

…Obamacare, the “law of the land”, contains ever-changing-at-the-whim-of-HHS, politically-expedient mandates, rewards, penalties, rules and regulations with which I cannot rationally or morally treat my patients and run a practice, much-less interpret, implement, or comply.

Millions of Americans have lost coverage because of the healthcare law and must now shop on a defective, insecure government website and sign up for more expensive policies through Federal and State exchanges. Only by logging in as a prospective patient did my office manager and I discover that Aetna was selling plans for which I am a provider-effectively selling my services without even asking, much less informing  me that my services would be sold on such a site, under the auspices of new terms with which I will not comply.

Then, after the fact, I received a form letter informing me of Aetna’s “new allowables”. I will not sell my services under such terms. While treated as such, patients and doctors are not commodities worthy of such impersonal, inconsiderate, and cavalier treatment. We choose dignity and personal service over disrespect and form letters…

Damage control at the Catholic Archdiocese of Newark

Monsignor John E. Doran, the No. 2 official within the archdiocese, has stepped down due to “operational failures” and will no longer hold a leadership position, according to letter to parishioners by Archbishop John J. Myers.

The resignation came after Bergen County, New Jersey, prosecutors arrested Father Michael Fugee on Monday on accusations of violating a 2007 judicial order to avoid working with children after he confessed years before to groping a teenage boy, according to court documents.

“The seriousness of the situation with Father Fugee necessitated a thoughtful and effective response,” Meyers wrote in the letter posted on the archdiocese website.

“Appointing a new Vicar General will be just one step in a comprehensive plan to review, and where necessary, strengthen our internal protocols and ensure we are doing everything we can to safeguard the children of our community.”

“His Holiness Benedict XVI, Pope-Emeritus”

Giving an official word to one of the imminent post-papacy’s most-sought questions, at today’s transition briefing, the Vatican spokesman Fr Federico Lombardi finally confirmed that, upon his resignation Thursday evening, Papa Ratzi will be known as “His Holiness Benedict XVI, Pope-Emeritus,” and retain the signature clothing of the pontiff’s office.

Saint Pope Benedict XVI?

by Doug Lawrence

Santo Subito! (Sainthood now!)

Pope Benedict’s resignation presents the Catholic Church with an opportunity that is almost without precedent. So why wait for death to declare the man a saint, when we can have a living saint … right here and right now … working to help resolve all the various problems of the modern world?

All of this can be done simultaneously, with the election of the new Pope.

First … let’s get the new Pope elected. Then … let’s get that new Pope to declare Benedict XVI a living saint … where Benedict might then function much as former President (Democratic Party Saint) William Jefferson Clinton did, during  Barack Obama’s recent campaign … but hopefully, at a somewhat higher level.

It can become a whole, new tradition … and the Catholic Church might never be the same, again.

Our Protestant brethren should have no problem with this, since they already consider every Christian to be a saint. Nor should our elder brothers in faith have any difficulties with it, since Benedict is already a proven and quite malleable friend.

To get the Muslims on board, we can publish a story in L’Osservatore Romano about Benedict’s mystical night journeys, riding a white horse, regularly traveling from St. Peter’s Basilica, up to heaven, and back. Any good Muslim will tell you that saints and prophets are known to do stuff like that!

Solidly traditional Catholics may also find this hard to swallow … and I admit that it does have a vaguely familiar “ring” to it … but I say … if you’re going to break the mold … then bust it all to hell! Look at how well it worked for the the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and the Catholic Church, after Vatican II. All the more reason to proceed with the greatest haste!

A living saint with all the resources of the universal Church at his disposal, complete with current Facebook and Twitter accounts, but with none of the onerous, day to day responsibilities. Even President Barack Obama and his false prophet, David Axelrod, can’t top that!

If you believe David Petraeus really resigned as CIA director over an extramarital affair, you probably also believe that Muhammad filmmaker Mark Basseley Youssef is in prison because of a parole violation.

It is much more likely that both Petraeus and Youssef herald the dawning of a new style in American politics – or else Barack Obama is the luckiest man alive.

It has already been widely noted that the timing of Petraeus’s resignation was perfect for Barack Obama: on the same day that the House Foreign Affairs Committee announced that it would be calling the CIA director to testify about the ever-widening Benghazi scandal, he abruptly resigned over an extramarital affair. Now Petraeus won’t be testifying, and one of the most important witnesses as to what really happened when jihadists attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, and who ordered those who would have defended Ambassador Chris Stevens and his colleagues to “stand down,” has been removed from the scene. Petraeus had already said that he issued no such order, which makes it strongly likely that Obama himself did so; but now Petraeus won’t be around to say so one way or the other.

Newly retired bishop seems shocked that the Vatican promptly accepted his mandatory resignation

“The Holy Father accepted my resignation effective today, September 21st,” Bishop Matthew Clark explained.

With that announcement Bishop Matthew Clark officially entered retirement. He now holds the title of Bishop Emeritus. Clark submitted his resignation to the Vatican in July upon his 75th birthday, which Church law requires. He believed he would remain on the job until a new bishop was appointed.

“Commonly, I would have received a letter saying ‘I accept your resignation now effective when your replacement is named,’ in which case I would have continued without interruption my episcopal service here,” he said. “So this is not the common way.”

Why the Vatican wanted him out (from the Cleansing Fire Website)

Most of us expected a quicker than normal change, just not this quick! So why was the bishop’s resignation accepted after only two months? First of all, the bishop’s fruits have been rotten. Below is a table of figures comparing the state of the Diocese of Rochester when Bp. Clark arrived to when he departed:

Ad-libbing priest decides to fight

The Rev. Bill Rowe of St. Mary Parish is set to be replaced in June after a controversy based on his long-standing practice of changing parts of the liturgy to, as he has said, make it easier to understand.

But Rowe said Tuesday that he has retracted his offer to resign and will fight any effort by Bishop Edward Braxton to remove him. Rowe said he may be entitled to a hearing under cannon law as to whether making changes in liturgy constitutes a serious violation worthy of removal.

Referring to the practice in the Catholic Church of using communion wafers and wine to symbolize the body and blood of Jesus Christ, Rowe said, “It’s not like I’m using pizza or Coke and praying to Allah. I’ve not done anything like that.”

Editor’s note – Just a couple of points:

The Mass, which is the universal prayer of the whole Church, is not and never has been subject to the whims of any clergyman or lay person.

Jesus Christ originally gave us the words … and the hierarchy of the Catholic Church alone has the limited authority to change them. Not you. Not me. And certainly not some local parish priest!

At Mass, the communion wafers and wine not only symbolize the body and blood of Jesus Christ … but that same bread and wine actually becomes His real and substantial body, blood, soul and divinity.

Once Jesus becomes present on the altar for us, the Church uses very specific language in order to consistently pray for, and hopefully receive, whatever blessings and divine sustenance is necessary for the good of the Church … and the world.

Accomplished in union with Jesus Christ and the whole church, the Mass is being constantly celebrated somewhere on earth, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year … as it has been for almost two thousand years, now.

As such, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is a much “bigger deal” than anyone … even a priest … could possibly imagine. Priests who choose to “make it up” as they go along obviously don’t understand this … since if they did, they wouldn’t even dream of changing any of the words. And this is never just a “minor” issue!

Vatican II says nothing about ad-libbing priests, other than confirming the continuous and constant teaching of the Church that such acts are both ill advised and illicit. If taken to extremes, such liberties might even serve to make the Mass totally invalid.

Father Bill needs to get his pride under control. If he wants to better educate his parishioners, he can rightly do so during the sermon/homily. Or he can schedule specific courses of instruction on the Mass, as do so many other Catholic parishes.

In short, no matter how his favorite parishioners might “feel”, Father Bill’s actions are wrong, he has absolutely no right to change even one iota of the sacred liturgy, and he would be wise to simply apologize and repent, as all sinners are wisely counseled to do.

Or perhaps .. he might consider a new career in show business!

Wave bye-bye to poor Fr. Bill, who liked to say Mass in his own words.

“The problem is that when I pray at Mass, I tend to change the words that are written in the book to match what I was talking about, or what a song is about,” Rowe said in an interview.

Cardinal Bernard Law retires

Vatican City, Nov 21, 2011 / 05:55 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Benedict accepted the resignation of Cardinal Bernard Law, former Archbishop of Boston, and appointed Spanish Archbishop Santos Abril y Castelló as the new archpriest of the Basilica of St. Mary Major.

Cardinal Law, who resigned in 2002 as Archbishop of Boston in the wake of the sex abuse scandal, turned 80 on Nov. 4.

“Judas Goat” Doug Kmiec served his purpose. Now Obama administration can’t wait to dump him.

During the last presidential election, Doug Kmiec lured untold numbers of misinformed Catholics over to the Obama (pro-death) side. Obama promptly paid him off with the ambassadorial post to Malta. But now, with little chance of pulling off that trick again, it’s time for Kmiec to go. Besides … there’s only so many ambassadorships (political plums) available to hand out!

Kmiec had originally proposed that he depart on August 15, the feast of the Assumption. However, after President Obama accepted his resignation, the State Department asked him to leave two-and-a-half months earlier.

Editor’s note: Kmiec should have known: “You lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas.”

Saint Thomas More would probably say, “Why Douglas, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world… but for a temporary appointment as Ambassador to Malta?”

Jesus would probably put it this way, “Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to you.” (John 5:14)
