Miraculous survival, guardian angels and saintly relatives who have gone to their eternal reward

There is a horrific accident. Some people die. Some are spared.

Is it just a random game of numbers, or is there more to this than meets the eye?

Catholics and even some non-Catholic Christians will tell you about their guardian angels – powerful, pure spirit beings, personally assigned by God almighty, to keep us safe from harm.

Even less understood and appreciated are the “Kinsman Redeemers” who step forward to right wrongs and save their people from poverty, starvation, death – and worse.

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God made man, is the ultimate Kinsman Redeemer, but the Bible shows us many more. The story of Ruth and Boaz is probably the next most significant, since through their timely meeting and subsequent marriage, the sacred blood line of the coming Messiah was preserved. (See 4:22, below.)

Ruth 4:9-22
(9) And he said to the ancients, and to all the people: You are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and Chelion’s, and Mahalon’s, of the hand of Noemi:
(10) And have taken to wife Ruth, the Moabitess, the wife of Mahalon, to raise up the name of the deceased in his inheritance lest his name be cut off, from among his family and his brethren and his people. You, I say, are witnesses of this thing.
(11) Then all the people that were in the gate, and the ancients, answered: We are witnesses: The Lord make this woman who cometh into thy house, like Rachel, and Lia, who built up the house of Israel: that she may be an example of virtue in Ephrata, and may have a famous name in Bethlehem:
(12) And that the house may be, as the house of Phares, whom Thamar bore unto Juda, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this young woman.
(13) Boaz therefore took Ruth, and married her: and went in unto her, and the Lord gave her to conceive, and to bear a son.
(14) And the women said to Noemi: Blessed be the Lord, who hath not suffered thy family to want a successor: that his name should be preserved in Israel.
(15) And thou shouldst have one to comfort thy soul, and cherish thy old age. For he is born of thy daughter in law: who loveth thee: and is much better to thee, than if thou hadst seven sons.
(16) And Noemi taking the child, laid it in her bosom, and she carried it, and was a nurse unto it.
(17) And the women, her neighbours, congratulating with her, and saying, There is a son born to Noemi, called his name Obed: he is the father of Isai, the father of David.
(18) These are the generations of Phares: Phares begot Esron,
(19) Esron begot Aram, Aram begot Aminadab,
(20) Aminadab begot Nahasson, Nahasson begot Salmon,
(21) Salmon begot Booz, Booz begot Obed,
(22) Obed begot Isai (Jessie), Isai (Jessie) begot David.

Nor are Kinsman Redeemers required to be presently alive, here on earth. Catholics will explain the concept of the Communion of Saints – that great cloud of faithful witnesses who have gone before us – now in Heaven – eternally perfected in God’s power, grace and mercy. These holy souls have the right to approach the throne of the Most High God with their petitions – hopefully, interceding with him for us – their beloved progeny and “kin”.

This goes much, much further and it is much more powerful than we might imagine – since by virtue of our baptism, we are all adopted children of God – brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, the Lord – with his mother – the Blessed Virgin Mary, also ours.

Saint Paul sums things up quite nicely:

Romans 8:28-39
(28) And we know that to them that love God all things work together unto good: to such as, according to his purpose, are called to be saints.
(29) For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be made conformable to the image of his Son: that he might be the Firstborn amongst many brethren.
(30) And whom he predestined, them he also called. And whom he called, them he also justified. And whom he justified, them he also glorified.
(31) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who is against us?
(32) He that spared not even his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how hath he not also, with him, given us all things?
(33) Who shall accuse against the elect of God? God is he that justifieth:
(34) Who is he that shall condemn? Christ Jesus that died: yea that is risen also again, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
(35) Who then shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation? Or distress? Or famine? Or nakedness? Or danger? Or persecution? Or the sword?
(36) (As it is written: For thy sake, we are put to death all the day long. We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.)
(37) But in all these things we overcome, because of him that hath loved us.
(38) For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor might,
(39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So, the next time things turn out miraculously better than you might ever have expected, don’t forget to thank God, thank your guardian angel, and thank your “extended family” in Heaven. (But why wait? Take a moment to give God thanks and praise, right now!)

Remember too … All Souls Day and All Saints Day are rapidly approaching!

Toddler cheats death after car crashes into buggy and crushes it against wall

Idolatry is the first sister of “pride” which “is the beginning of all sin…”

“Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions.
Their females exchanged the natural use
into that use which is against nature.
Males did shameful things with males and thus,
received in their own persons
the due penalty for their perversity.”

What you see in “Romans” above is the lamentable soul “handed…over (by God) to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies.” These are the ones, then, having been “handed over,” who are unable to control their inner compulsions to “same sex, sex,” as Dr. Socarides calls it. Moreover, they are made victim of “the lusts of their hearts” which translates to the “King Midas” curse! Not only will you be given to your lusts but it shall be overpowering and serve to “the mutual degradation of their bodies.”

It becomes quite apparent from “Romans” 1 that God is a participant in addressing these persons’ particular idolatry by the fact it is cited in three separate instances that “God handed them over to impurity…God handed them over to degrading passions…God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper.” One cannot but note that “handed over” is not worded in a manner reflecting the terrible consequences spoken of possibly coming about but, rather, they are avowed as givens!

The sodomite condition, then, is not biological/physical, it is spiritual! No wonder the atheistic or agnostic secular disciplines are all over the wall. They haven’t a clue and their mindset while in that state will assure that they never will.

Seven part series examines the facts surrounding the Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Is it true? Did the Bible get it right? Are there other plausible alternatives? Wading through Flannery O’Conner, myth-spinning fishermen, Homer’s Iliad, legendary body-snatchers, a crucified Judas, the Battle of Waterloo, and hallucinating ghost-whisperers, I’ll seek to convince you, before Holy Week, that the Resurrection is not just a good story, but a literal, historical reality.

Jews don’t like message of Traditional Catholic group. And it’s NOT about the Holocaust.

by Doug Lawrence

The recent events surrounding the proposed reconciliation between the traditional Catholic SSPX group and the Vatican have brought out an unusually large number critical Jews, who take Pope Benedict to task for even considering any sort of rapprochement with the SSPX, unless and until the SSPX people repudiate any and all claims that might reflect badly upon Jews, for any reason … even if those claims are based on actual history and God’s absolute truth.

That is patently unfair.

The fact that our Jewish brothers and sisters know they have absolutely no right to interfere in internal Catholic Church matters, but continue to do so, also demonstrates that the roots of the problem go much, much deeper:

Beneath the high sounding, liberal Jewish rhetoric, often based on unfounded assumptions and flawed, self-serving misinterpretations of church documents, is the fact that the Jews have traditionally, never accepted the Catholic Church or any of its beliefs and teachings … about Jesus Christ, the Mass, the Priesthood, the Sacraments, the Bible, and virtually all things Christian … and Jews tend to view any type of authentic, genuine Catholicity as a threat … a direct affront to Judaism, itself.

Perhaps that perception is true. But the real problem is this: Traditional Jewry will only be happy if and when the Catholic Church agrees to repudiate Jesus Christ, and everything else the Church has preached, taught, and accomplished, in God’s holy name, over the last two thousand years.

That … and only that … would give the Jews a truly “level” playing field against Christianity. That’s what they would like, and that is what’s behind all the various op-ed pieces and position statements by various, Jewish pressure groups. It is also a classic, liberal argument, based almost purely on emotion, and nourished by guilt.

Like all good, post Vatican II Catholics, Pope Benedict and many of his fellow bishops are more than happy to go along with the charade, in the false hope of some sort of Christian-Jewish ecumenical breakthrough, the actual purpose of which, remains a great mystery.

Perhaps if we get the Jews to like us, they will want to become Catholic … but only if we compromise every essential principle of our faith … something which has already been tried by many Evangelical Protestant groups … with few positive results.

What we ought to do is respectfully and charitably agree to disagree, since there can be no real compromise between people who firmly believe that Jesus Christ is God, and those who continue to maintain instead, that Jesus Christ was nothing more than a liar, a pretender, and a blasphemer, worthy of death.

Regarding the tired old charge of Jewish blood libel: Certainly, people of good will … on both sides … can finally put that matter behind us, since Christians understand that it was essentially God’s idea to permit the Jews and the Romans of the first century era to crucify Jesus Christ, in order to destroy Satan’s power and save the world from its sins.

Much more about that, here.

But most Jews won’t accept that, either … so, let’s quit wasting time with all the lies, posturing and disingenuous rhetoric, and get busy with the holy work that God put all of us Christians here, to accomplish … teaching and preaching the entire, authentic, unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And let’s do it in love, since over the last two thousand years, nothing about the human condition has really changed:

And seeing him they adored: but some doubted. And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

No one … not even the devil … had the power or the authority to harm the only begotten Son of God.

by Doug Lawrence

No one … not even the devil … had the power or the authority to harm the only begotten Son of God … let alone the sinless, totally innocent son of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Jesus is both.

Jesus acknowledged Satan as “The Prince of This World” … yet the power of the devil had very specific limitations:

Satan had absolute power over sinners … even unto death
but … Satan had absolutely NO power over the sinless!

Since he is God, Jesus was and is totally devoid of sin. Hence, Satan held absolutely no power over Jesus. Nothing!

John 14:30
I will not now speak many things with you.
For the prince of this world cometh:
and in me he hath not any thing.

The moment Satan set out to induce his willing minions … some of the Jews and Romans of that time … to crucify Jesus … Satan once again became subject to divine judgment. That judgment would be harsh, but fair:

John 12:31
Now is the judgment of the world:
now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

That is in fact, what happened. Satan had absolutely no authority over Jesus Christ. Rightly judged responsible for Jesus’ unjust crucifixion and death, Satan lost everything that he had earlier gained from Adam’s fall, and was left destitute.

His evil dominion now destroyed, Satan would remain a wanderer and a vagabond upon the earth, relying only on the weak and the confused, for any temporal power that he might manage to retain.

Since Jesus thoroughly pleased his Father, all that Satan lost (and more) was awarded to him. The risen and triumphant Jesus makes that exceedingly clear:

Matthew 28:18
And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying:
All power is given to me in heaven and in earth.

Ever since … Jesus … the New Adam … King of Kings and Lord of Lords … and through him, the Catholic Church … has graciously offered salvation to every person of every generation … as he will continue to do … until he comes again in glory, on the Last Day.

Such was the main point of the life of Christ on earth,
and such is the continuing mission of the Catholic Church.

Simple enough? Thank God!

I genuinely want to know, not to offend Christians: Why aren’t Christians Jewish?

Q: I genuinely want to know, not to offend Christians:
Why aren’t Christians Jewish?

A: Judaism was temporary … meant to last about 1500 years … and only that long … in order to prove that the only way mankind could receive salvation and reconciliation with God … was courtesy of the holy Messiah … Jesus Christ … and not by ANY other means.

All the promises made specifically to the Jews were fulfilled by God … and once fulfilled … set aside … in favor of a new and better “deal” called the New Covenant … mediated by Christ … through his authentic Church … under only one set of “rules” which now apply to Jews and Gentiles, alike … and which are based on God’s grace and mercy … not on keeping the old law.

Jesus explained it all to the Jews … but instead of accepting the message … they had him put to death … by the Romans.

Some 40 years later, Jersualem was destroyed, and the remaining Jews were scattered to the four winds.

Some 400 years after that, the Roman empire suffered the same fate.

Meanwhile, the Catholic Church remains … the world’s oldest, continuous government of any kind .. responsible for all that is good in modern western civilization … and the God-ordained New Covenant faith authority for every Christian, everywhere.
