No brainer: the Church sex abuse crisis was overwhelming, the work of a very small number of homosexual clergy, targeting young males as their victims.

Here are the statistics, in Part 4.2 of the study: “four out of five (80%) alleged victims were male,” and “the majority of alleged victims were post-pubescent (87.4%), with only a small percentage of priests receiving allegations of abusing young children.”

This statistic paints a vivid picture: the sex abuse crisis was the overwhelming work of a very small number of clergy targeting young males as their victims.  This fact suggests one reform that has yet to be addressed: the Church must screen out clergy candidates with same-sex attractions.

At first, this reform appeared to be on the radar. In 2004, the National Review Board stated that while the sex abuse crisis had no single cause, “an understanding of the crisis is not possible” without reference to “the presence of homosexually oriented priests.” The board cited the data: “eighty percent of the abuse at issue was of a homosexual nature.”

Sexual Identity Therapy (SIT) Framework provides rational cover for virtually any sexual disorder

Editor’s note: This is the type of morally vacuous, psychologically accommodating approach that for years, in the Catholic Church, got sexual predators moved from parish to parish, and from doctor to doctor, while offering virtually nothing to help fix the underlying problem of same sex attraction and disordered sexuality towards our youth.

Now it appears that some of our protestant brethren are getting set to attempt the same thing!

In this article, the folks at Illinois Family Institute (and others) take Grove City College professor Warren Throckmorton and Regent University professor Mark Yarhouse to task for their apparently heretical, accomodationist approach to sexual identity therapy, which basically states that those who, despite the abundantly clear Christian prohibitions against such behavior, “feel” that disordered sexuality is OK for them, are indeed correct, and hence, in no further need of therapy.

This is just another institutionalized form of “Pay to Play” or more correctly, “Pay to Sin”!

Q: What about so-called “gay marriage”? Why is that wrong?

A: First, with regards to individuals who have an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction to persons of the same sex, they, as with each and every human person, share the dignity of an individual for whom Jesus Christ the Son of God willingly laid down his life and died on the Cross.

Such individuals, our brothers and sisters who have a same sex attraction, “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter.”6

As with every other human person, people who have a same sex attraction are called to be saints and to share in the eternal beatitude with the Holy Trinity through the practice of virtue (necessarily including chastity) and a sacramental life of following Jesus Christ in and through His Church.

As with any temptation, the inclination to homosexual acts is not sinful. However, the Church has always declared homosexual acts themselves to be “‘intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.”7 Thus, homosexual acts, are “sins gravely contrary to chastity,”8 and therefore, “all Catholics are obliged to oppose the legal recognition of homosexual unions.”9

In summary, “The Church teaches that respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in any way to approval of homosexual behaviour or to legal recognition of homosexual unions.”
