How are we doing, lately? Annual statistics from The Official Catholic Directory.

The clergy and vowed religious “workforce” of the Church in the United States is 57% smaller than it was in 1965 with about 144,000 fewer in ministry (note that some counted below are retired). Most of these losses have come among religious sisters and nuns. There are also about 21,000 fewer priests (diocesan and religious) now than in 1965 while the workforce has also experienced the addition of more than 18,000 permanent deacons.

Buchanan: Though the number of U.S. Catholics has risen by 20 million since 1965, statistics show that the power of Catholic belief and devotion to the Faith are not nearly what they were.

Thirty-seven years after the end of the only church council of the 20th century, the jury has come in with its verdict: Vatican II appears to have been an unrelieved disaster for Roman Catholicism.

Liars may figure, but figures do not lie. Kenneth C. Jones of St. Louis has pulled together a slim volume of statistics he has titled Index of Leading Catholic Indicators: The Church Since Vatican II.

His findings make prophets of Catholic traditionalists who warned that Vatican II would prove a blunder of historic dimensions, and those same findings expose as foolish and naive those who believed a council could reconcile Catholicism and modernity. When Pope John XXIII threw open the windows of the church, all the poisonous vapors of modernity entered, along with the Devil himself.

Refuting deadly lies with their own statistics: Planned Parenthood aborts one baby every 97 seconds. Over 91% of pregnancy services Planned Parenthood provided to pregnant clients were abortion services.

AddictingInfo.org blogger Stephen Foster recently tried to refute claims made by Pennsylvania representative Daryl Metcalfe about Planned Parenthood, titling the article ”Pennsylvania Congressman Falsely Claims That Planned Parenthood Performs An Abortion ‘Every 95 Seconds.’” Sorry, Foster, but this assertion is pretty accurate. I’ll break it down for you.

Planned Parenthood performs 330,000 of the 1,200,000 abortions in America annually. This means that Planned Parenthood performs about 27% of all American abortions, or 887 of the 3,287 abortions performed daily.

There are 86,400 seconds in a day. Calculate the 887 abortions Planned Parenthood commits on a daily basis into the 86,400 seconds PP has to do them, and you have an abortion performed by Planned Parenthood every 97 seconds.

Knew it all along: Statistical study proves birth control does NOT prevent unintended pregnancy. Over time it actually makes it more likely.

The typical-use failure rate for the pill is 8%, in one year 8 out of 100 women using the pill in a typical way will get pregnant, but the numbers are much higher extrapolated over time. It’s even worse for condom use.

# Women out of 100 that will get pregnant 1 or more times:
Birth Control Method Typical-Use Failure Rate 1 year 5 years 10 years
Pill 8 8 34 57
Condom 17 17 56 80

8 out of 100 women will have unintended pregnancies in one year, but 34 of those same 100 women will have unintended pregnancies in 5 years, and more than half in 10 years. Condom use has an even higher failure rate, so typical-use of condoms over 5 years actually makes a woman more likely to get pregnant than not. Over ten year’s time, it practically ensures unintended pregnancy. And what about teens? Teens are not as careful so the failure rates are higher.

The big lie of the Obama HHS debacle: 99% of Catholics use articificial contraception.

by Doug Lawrence

As if it actually mattered, which it does not, even if 100% of Catholic couples, in clear opposition to church teachings, used artificial birth control, there’s no way the numbers could actually add up to anything in the ninetieth percentile.

Relying on the remarkably creative, now you see it, now you don’t, Planned Parenthood/Guttwrencher standard for birth control/abortion statistics, only half of any Catholic couple is likely to be “using” (wearing, deploying, taking, having had surgery, etc.) birth control, at any given time … meaning that at worst, even if every couple employed artificial contraception, the effective number of specific “users” would be no more than 50 percent.

Finally, tens of millions of Catholics in the United States remain totally open to child-birth, rely on NFP, are homosexual, choose not to be sexually active, are too young or too old to conceive … or are just too ugly/ornery (you know who you are) to attract a mate … reducing the possible prevalence of Catholics using artificial contraceptives to no more than about 30 percent. Probably less!

Take that, you band of psycho-sexualized, commie, baby-killing, marxist, socialist-democrat, anti-Catholic Obama-Pelosi-Sebeliites!

More and more Catholics choosing to forego church weddings

The number of marriages celebrated in the Church has fallen from 415,487 in 1972 to 168,400 in 2010 — a decrease of nearly 60 percent — while the U.S. Catholic population has increased by almost 17 million. To put this another way, this is a shift from 8.6 marriages per 1,000 U.S. Catholics in 1972 to 2.6 marriages per 1,000 Catholics in 2010.

Planned Parenthood does more than just killing babies … and John Wayne Gacy built some nice homes!

New Planned Parenthood Mascot?

by Doug Lawrence

Besides annually killing around 350,000 babies, and abusing as many women, Planned Parenthood would like you to know that they also provide health screenings, STD tests, and contraceptives (for a fee).

What they don’t say is that around a third of their profits come from abortion alone, and they have a very peculiar way of counting visits for services.

Let’s say you went to a restaurant for pizza, but every time you reached for a drink, or a napkin, a fork or a knife, the restaurant counted it as another “visit”. Weird, huh?

That’s how Planned Parenthood “cooks the books” in their favor. Books they have been totally unable to balance, by the way. They have yet to pass muster on key government audits of their use of state and federal funds.

But they claim that no federal money is used to provide abortions.

I say, “Prove it … or quit!”

New Study: The Catholic Church Is Right About Everything.

So what to do, when research gives us answers we don’t like, but we’ve been trained to believe that human nature is just a bundle of biological impulses and evolutionary drives?

Sorry, women of DoubleX.  You have only one choice:  become a Catholic.  The more we learn about how human beings are made, the more you have to admit it.  The Catholic Church is right about everything.

Catholic Church still (barely) growing. Most denominational Christian Groups take a hit.

Church membership for more than a third of the nation’s largest churches took a hit last year while non-Orthodox Christian churches are on the rise, a new report on denominations finds.

The Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s second largest denomination, reported a .42 percent decline in membership to 16,160,088 members, according to National Council of Churches’ 2011 Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches, released Monday.

Still dominating the list of the nation’s top 25 mainline churches is the Catholic Church, which posted a .57 growth at 68.5 million members.

Study: One in four California pregnancies ends in abortion

The abortion rate in California has declined sharply over the last two decades, but remains higher than the nationwide rate, according to a new study from the nonpartisan Guttmacher Institute.

About 24 percent of pregnancies in California ended with an abortion during 2008, the study found. Nationwide, about 19 percent of pregnancies ended in abortion.

Doctors performed roughly 214,000 abortions in California during 2008. About 18 percent of the nation’s abortions happened here.

About 95,000 of California’s abortions were publicly funded; about half of the nation’s publicly-funded abortions that year occurred in California.

Susan B. Anthony List Posts Sad, Startling Statistics About Planned Parenthood’s Deadly Mission

Abortion giant Planned Parenthood just released its 2008-2009 annual report, and the stats are startling and saddening.

* Planned Parenthood received $363 million in government grants and contracts — our tax dollars — from 2008 to 2009 alone.

* During this same time period, Planned Parenthood destroyed the lives of 324,008 unborn babies and wounded that many mothers.

* While aborting 324,008 babies, Planned Parenthood made just 9,433 adoption referrals.

Their annual report shows that they received the most federal dollars ever — at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer — and this resulted in the most unborn babies ever killed by Planned Parenthood.

“Catholics Come Home” U.S. campaign produces .03% average (estimated) response

TV ads aimed at bringing lapsed Catholics back into the fold have enjoyed enormous success recently with an estimated 200,000 returning to churches throughout the U.S. as a result of the campaign.

Featuring high-resolution TV ads with lush colors and powerful imagery, Catholics Come Home – an initiative of business entrepreneur Tom Peterson – has teamed up with local dioceses in the U.S. to bring people back into the Church.

Peterson told EWTN News Dec. 16 that Catholics Come Home “has been blessed with amazing results” over the last two and a half years as over 200,000 individuals, whether lapsed Catholics or otherwise, have joined their local parishes.

“We’ve heard amazing stories of conversions from atheism,” as well as individuals from Protestant denominations coming into the Catholic Church, he said.

The vast majority, though, are “’reverts’ – people coming back to their faith,” Peterson noted.

What ever happened to the idea of “unity” in the Church?

John 17:13-23 And now I come to thee: and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy filled in themselves. I have given them thy word, and the world hath hated them: because they are not of the world, as I also am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from evil. They are not of the world, as I also am not of the world. Sanctify them in truth. Thy word is truth.  As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for them do I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.  And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me.

That they all may be one, as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  And the glory which thou hast given me, I have given to them: that, they may be one, as we also are one. I in them, and thou in me: that they may be made perfect in one: and the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them, as thou hast also loved me.

Preliminary results of “Catholics Come Home” Campaign: As many as 200,000 people have come back to the faith or converted.

…the Diocese of Phoenix called me back in 1997, and they said “the Holy Father Pope John Paul II, for the New Evangelization, would like to invite inactive Catholics back home to the Church for the Jubilee, would you help us?” I said of course, that’s the fulfillment of my dream, and that is the calling I had on my retreat, to use the talents that God had given me, not for my own benefit but for the Church.

So I said yes, of course, and we did a very simplistic version of Catholics Come Home back in 1997. We aired it for 2.5 weeks in the Diocese of Phoenix, and miraculously 3,000 people came back to the Church. I figured out how much we had invested and said, “Hey, it is only $10 a soul. This is an incredible return and investment.” That was a one-time program and years later now we resurrected it, and created it as a full time lay apostolate, faithful to the magisterium of the Church. We’ve got excellent boards of advisors, we’ve got many clergy, we’ve got business advisors, we have lay theologians, noted Catholic authors, speakers who give us advice and make sure that our commercials have sound teachings.

So we aired the commercials again, under the new form where there are film commercials like “Epic” showing the universality of the Church all over the world, commercials like “Movie” that call folks to a deeper relationship with Jesus and talk about his divine mercy, testimonial ads of people who have left the Church for various reasons and have come home, and now miraculously the results are even more grace-filled. We’ve aired in 12 archdioceses and dioceses around the United States — Chicago, Seattle, back in Phoenix again — and while we are still working with the dioceses to calculate final statistics, it appears that as many as 200,000 people have come back to the faith or converted, which is a huge blessing, and the average diocese, based on the initial statistics, has grown as much as 11%.
