Pope Francis: Why he took that name.

Vatican City, Mar 16, 2013 / 08:11 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis told thousands of journalists today he loved them and thanked them for their recent work.

The pontiff told the professionals that Jesus is the center of the Church and not himself.

“Without him, Peter and the Church would not exist nor would they have a reason for existing,” he said.

Pope Francis also explained that he chose the name Francis because of what a cardinal told him on the day he became Pope.

“On the election day I had next to me the Archbishop emeritus of Sao Paolo and the prefect emeritus of the Congregation of the Clergy, Cardinal Claudio Hummes, a great friend,” he said.

“When the voting resulted in the election of the Pope, he hugged me, he kissed me and he told me ‘do not forget the poor,’” said the Pope.

He explained that the words “the poor” remained stuck in his head and he suddenly thought of Saint Francis of Assisi.

“Man of poverty, man of peace, man who loves and guards the Creator,” said Pope Francis.

What an ex-cattle broker girl from Denver knows that most of the Cardinals don’t – or at least, won’t admit?

All of the Ayn Rand devotees need to read this one. Trust me.All of you people who attend a Nervous Ardor, er, I mean Novus Ordo parish (new post-1968 Mass in English with gameshow host, er, excuse me, priest facing the people) need to understand what was cut out of the Mass by the Marxist-homosexualist infiltrators and why.

At the end of every Mass (with just a couple of exceptions per year), the first fourteen verses of the Gospel of John are read. So yes, there are TWO Gospel readings per Mass: the variable Gospel in the liturgy of the Word, which changes every day, and John 1:1-14 at the very, very end of the Mass.

The Johannine Gospel is referred to as “The Last Gospel”.John 1:1-14 is, in my considered opinion, the single greatest and most beautiful bit of prose ever written. The Holy Spirit really pulled out all of the stops when He inspired John to pen these verses. It is simultaneously macho and elegant. Especially in Latin. It is just perfect. Here is the English:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was made nothing that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men: and the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him. He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light. That was the true light which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world.

He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them He gave great power to become the sons of God: to them that believe in His name: who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Perfect. So why did the Marxist-homosexualist infiltrators remove the reading of the most beautiful bit of prose EVAH from the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass?

Short answer: Because they hate God.

Long answer: Because their satanic heresy, believe it or not, all turns on messing up the processions of the Trinity.

It’s actually quite simple. All of the Marxist-homosexualists are always going on and on about how giving people free stuff and letting people do whatever they want is the message of Christ and His Church, right? There is no sin, there is no hell, I’m okay – you’re okay, do what you want and give people free stuff because … wait for it … God is Love. And love means free stuff, never ever having to say you’re sorry, and sex.

The problem with this is that love PROCEEDS from logic and reason. Look at The Last Gospel. It’s right there in the very first verse. In the beginning was THE WORD. Verbum in Latin. Logos in the original Greek. Logos means logic and/or reason in the Greek. John identifies God NOT as “The Caritas” (Latin for love, which is the root of the word charity) or The Agape (Greek for the ultimate self-sacrificial love). John does not say, “In the beginning was the Love…” No, no. John identifies God as THE LOGOS. The Word. Logic and reason. Existential Reality.

Why? Because Divine Love proceeds out of the Logos. Yep. Logic/Reason/Reality comes first, then only proceeding out of Logic/Reason/Reality is Caritas, which is love. Logic/Reason/Reality is the Divine Antecedent. Charity/Love is the Divine Corollary.

What satan, through his Marxist-sodomite helpers, has done is to REVERSE the processions. The Marxist-sodomite heretics preach that the “love” comes first and that logic and reason are massively subordinated at best, or the opposite and enemy of love at worst.

Kids, you mess up the processions of the Trinity and everything in your culture will fall apart POST HASTE. Just ask the Russians. And this is exactly what is happening to us since we have been overthrown by Marxist-Communists over the last 50 years, now fully accomplished by the Obama putsch regime, which is neo-Stalinist.

Think about it. The Marxist-homosexualists say that they want to give everyone free stuff, and the people have a “right” to free stuff. But that clearly doesn’t jibe with reality. It is illogical and devoid of reason. Money has to come from somewhere. Physical commodities have to be produced and harvested at the expense of labor – MAN HOURS. Service commodities are a function of man hours and acquired human skill or talent. These things are not free, and do not exist in infinite quantities. A man can voluntarily choose to donate his labor, skill and time, but the donation, the charity, the LOVE therein MUST be preceded by the REALITY of the thing itself.

Let’s just give everyone on earth a trillion dollars and call it good. Wouldn’t that be *nice*? If we really loved our neighbor we would just give him a trillion bucks, right?

Um, yeah, except that would instantaneously collapse the currency and economy. Math will not permit such irrational insanity, and since math, as a subset of the Logos, precedes caritas, or love, we can’t mandate that people be given free stuff. People can only be given free stuff in any sustainable way by other individuals acting from purely voluntary charity, not coercion. This is why MATH WINS, and why miracles like the multiplication of the loaves and fishes are exactly that – MIRACLES, not economic theories.

Oh, and with respects to sodomy, two men jamming things into each other’s feces-laden colons or two women abusing one another is irrational. Like it or not, sex has to make anatomical sense and be ordered toward reproduction. And, nipping the screeching in the bud, sex between man and wife that is naturally infertile due to either a natural condition in a young woman, or due to the infertility of age in an older woman is 100% ratified by God in the miraculous births of Isaac and John the Baptist. Sodomy is irrational, intrinsically hateful and physically violent and is in direct opposition to the existential reality of human anatomy. Period. It can never, ever proceed from love.

This is why the Marxist-homosexualists removed the proclamation of The Last Gospel from the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, because it shoots down their Marxist rabble-rousing agitprop revolving around “free stuff” and the Sodomites’ addiction to perverted sex acts.

Oh, and none of this has been taught in seminaries for over 50 years now. Your priest, bishop and the vast, vast majority of the Cardinals gathered in Rome know NOTHING about what an ex-cattle broker girl from Denver with an Amazon Prime membership just explained to you; never mind Superfun Rockband Church Pastor Jeremy.

And so, the answer to the title question of this post is:

In principio erat Verbum ….

More from Ann Barnhardt

Editor’s note: For the record, another unparalleled, major “sweet spot” of the Gospels can be found in the first chapter of Luke, verses 45-55.

And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord. And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid: for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Because he that is mighty hath done great things to me: and holy is his name. And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him. He hath shewed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He hath put down the mighty from their seat and hath exalted the humble. He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath received Israel his servant, being mindful of his mercy. As he spoke to our fathers: to Abraham and to his seed for ever.  (Luke 1:45-55)

Mystical vision explains what happens as we pray the Rosary

Father Gabriel Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican writes:

One day a colleague of mine heard the devil say during an exorcism:
“Every Hail Mary is like a blow on my head. If Christians knew how powerful
The Rosary was, it would be my end.”

The secret that makes this prayer so effective is that the Rosary is both
Prayer and meditation. It is addressed to the Father, to the Blessed
Virgin, and to the Holy Trinity, and is a meditation centered on Christ.

I write in addition to the above:
Please enunciate each word of the Rosary clearly and distinctly.
Do not trample on the heels of the words of anyone with your words.
Do not speak over the leader if you are following
Or the respondent if you are leading the Rosary.

Remember that they also are having a conversation with Mary Our
Mother and it is not polite to speak when someone else is speaking.

In the  case of the public Rosary there are only two people speaking:
The Leader and the respondents.
Each is speaking to the Blessed Mother and listening
Carefully to her response within their hearts as they meditate on the scene
Before them in their consideration of the mystery being spoken of and
Interpreted and translated into their lives.

Spread this powerful prayer of
Exorcism, the Rosary, which contains the Our Father, the Perfect Prayer,
Prayed five times in the recitation of each set of the Rosary’s Mysteries,
Backed up by the powerful prayers of Our Mother
Who prays with us as we pray 53 Hail Mary’s.

The Eternal Father described to a group of us,
Through a Visionary Friend of Mine,
What happens when we pray the Rosary,
Saying, “When you pray Holy Mary Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now…..,
The Blessed Mother comes instantly to your side to pray with you.
And she does not come alone.

She brings angels with her.
And not just one or two for she is the Queen of Angels,
So choirs of angels come with her. And she and Jesus are joined at
The heart and cannot be separated so she brings Jesus with her.
And Jesus  Cannot be separated from the Trinity so
He brings the Father and the Holy
Spirit with Him.
And where the Holy Trinity is, all of creation is,
And you a
re surrounded by such beauty and light
As you cannot imagine in this life.

Your Mother comes as Our Lady of Grace with her hands outstretched.
Rays of Light emit from her hands piercing your body, healing you
And filling you with graces.

This is your inheritance which was poured out from the heart of
Jesus on the Cross, when the centurion pierced His Heart with the spear,
Into the only pure vessel ready to receive such graces at that time,
Your Mother.

Now as you pray the Rosary, or even just recite one Hail Mary,
You receive your portion of these graces.
He also said at this time, “Anyone who goes to Mary and prays the Rosary
Cannot be touched by Satan.
“Is it any wonder that anyone who prays the Rosary from the heart
Is so blessed and protected and powerful in their prayers for others?

Glory, Love, Grace … and the Catholic Church

God is pure being, without beginning or end, the one whose essence is existence, the only one who can truthfully call Himself “I am who am” (Ex 3:14).

He is so awesomely beyond and above us that our only appropriate response is: “Glory!” He is also the Creator of everything else that exists, all of which depends completely and utterly upon Him. Again, “Glory be to God!” And He is a Trinity of burning love, by His very nature impelled to share Himself in love with others, whom He has created simply to be loved, to know what it means to be in love. Once again, “Glory!”

Finally, to draw us into this ecstasy of love, He makes Himself present to us through the Incarnate Word, Jesus Christ. And after Jesus Christ came into the world, taught us everything we needed to know about the Father, established His Church and prepared for His final act of obedience to the Father’s will, what does He say to the Father about His purpose and the purpose of His disciples? He says it is all for the glory of God. Read Saint John’s Gospel:

I glorified thee on earth, having accomplished the work which thou gavest me to do; and now, Father, glorify thou me in thy own presence with the glory which I had with thee before the world was made. I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world; thine they were, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. Now they know that everything that thou hast given me is from thee; for I have given them the words which thou gavest me, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from thee; and they have believed that thou didst send me. I am praying for them; I am not praying for the world but for those whom thou hast given me, for they are thine; all mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified in them. (Jn 17:4-10)

Christians: Can a son be his own father?

Q: Christians: Can a son be his own father?

Jesus is son of God, and he is God. How can father and son be the same person?

A: God the Father is of an eternal, unique, uncreated, godly “essence”.

God the Son is eternally begotten of this same essence.

God the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, and is also of the same godly essence.

Each person of the Godhead is a divine and distinct person, yet all three together constitute the one, true, God.

The Father is distinctive from the Son and the Son from the Father and the Holy Spirit, yet all are of the same godly essence, so all constitute the one God.

Mathematically: 1 X 1 X 1 = 1.

Jesus also took on flesh and became man, in order to redeem the world from sin. This merely added a human body and soul to his unique godly identity.

So … Jesus and the Father are NOT the same person. They (along with the Holy Spirit) are equally God (consubstantial) but are also distinctive, unique, rational persons, in their own right.

Is Jesus the Son of God, or God himself?

Q: Is Jesus the Son of God, or God himself?

Can the Son do anything contrary to the Father’s will?

A: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three distinct, divine persons who together, constitute the one, true God.  They are all of the same eternal, uncreated godly “stuff”.

And since, by their divine nature, the three are also “connected” to each other in a mysterious but infinitely loving way, they always act together, in perfect unity and accord.

So no … Jesus could not do anything that was contrary to the will of his Father, because such a thing would be contrary to his own divine nature.

The First Novena

The First Novena – by Father Tom Euteneuer

Have you ever wondered when the first Novena was prayed?

Look no farther than chapters 1 and 2 of the Acts of the Apostles to see that the disciples were gathered together in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost, with Mary, waiting and praying for the coming of the Holy Spirit, the promised Gift of the Lord.

They had been there since Ascension Thursday praying the Church’s very first novena!

Despite the modern anomaly of moving Ascension to a Sunday, the Church repeats that original novena every year in preparation for the coming of the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, the Sanctifier.

How Much Do We Really Know About the “Mysterious” Holy Spirit?

After much consideration, I’ve come to the conclusion that we probably know the Holy Spirit better than ANY of the other members of the Holy Trinity.

For one thing, the Spirit provides the initial grace that either leads us to Christ, or leads our family and/or friends to bring us to him.

Once introduced … typically through Baptism … it’s the Holy Spirit who dwells in our soul … and for Catholics, that would begin almost immediately, after birth.

Here’s how I see it (CCC refers to the paragraph number in the Catholic Catechism):

We know the Holy Spirit as the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. (CCC 246)

He is the “Mighty Wind” who swept across the waters of the young earth and the “Breath of Life” who introduced Adam to his soul. (Genesis 1:2 and Genesis 2:7)

He guided pairs of every creature into Noah’s Ark and later, He personally opened the fountains of the great deep and the loosed the floodgates of heaven. (Genesis 7: 9 – 11)

He is the fiery Destroyer of Sodom and Gomorrah. (Genesis 19:24)

He is the One who quickened the infertile womb of Sarah, granting faithful Abraham a beloved son. (Genesis 18:14)

It is the Holy Spirit who hardened the heart of Pharao and who led the Israelites out of Egypt. He is the “Pillar of Cloud” and “Pillar of Fire” who protected His people in the desert and showed them the way. (Exodus 10:1 and Exodus 13:22)

The Holy Spirit is the strong “Burning Wind” who parted the Red Sea. (Exodus 14:21) He is the “Finger of God” who rendered the Ten Commandments in stone. (Exodus 31:18)It was He who stopped up the River Jordan so His people could pass over on dry ground (Joshua 3:17) and it was He who caused the walls of Jericho to crumble. (Joshua 6:20)

The Holy Spirit guided the smooth, solitary stone that was launched by David’s sling, defeating Goliath, the hulking beast and mortal enemy of Israel. (1st Samuel 17:49)

He has spoken through the Prophets (and inspired all the writers of the Bible).

To save His prophet Daniel, he sent an angel to shut the mouths of hungry lions. (Daniel 6:22)

With the consent of the Virgin Mary, He conceived the baby Jesus in her womb. (Luke 1:26)

He is the power behind every miracle. (Exodus 9:16, 2nd Kings 17:36, Psalms 77:14, Psalms 105:27, Isaiah 22:21, Jeremiah 16:21, Daniel 4:3, Matthew 9:2, Mark 1:27, Luke 1:35, Luke 4:14, Luke 4:36, Luke 5:17, Luke 9:44, Luke 10:19, Luke 24:49, John 1:12, John 17:2, Acts 1:8, Acts 4:33, Acts 10:38, Romans 1:3, Romans 9:17, Romans 13:1, Romans 15:13, Romans 15:19, 1st Corinthians 6:14, 2nd Corinthians 3:14, 1st Thessalonians 1:5, 1st Peter 4:14, 2nd Peter 1:3)

He dwelled within the Tabernacle in the desert (Exodus 33:9) and in the Holy of Holies on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. (1st Kings 8:10) Today, He sanctifies our Church (John 14:16) and dwells within every baptized, faithful and repentant Christian. (2nd Corinthians 6:16)

The Holy Spirit descended like a dove on the baptized Jesus (Matthew 3:16) and it was through the power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus, fully man and fully God, perfectly accomplished His divine mission. Acts 10:38  Jesus of Nazareth: how God anointed him with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

It is the Holy Spirit who darkened the sky and shook the earth on Good Friday (Matthew 27:45) and 3 days hence, raised Himself from the dead. (Romans 8:11)

On Pentecost, visible as tongues of fire and audible as wind and thunder, He anointed Mary and the Apostles (and all those gathered together with them), and presided at the birth of the Holy Catholic Church.  (Acts 2:1)

He remains the Paraclete (advocate) and Spirit of Truth who guides the Church throughout history, protecting it from doctrinal error.  (John 14:16)

At Baptism, the Holy Spirit sweeps sin from our soul and takes up residence there, indelibly marking us as adopted children of God, members of the Church, and co-heirs with Jesus Christ.  (Ephesians 4:30, Galatians 4:7)

At Mass, it is the Holy Spirit who transforms ordinary bread and wine into the glorified, resurrected body and blood of Jesus.  (CCC 1375)

Through the other Sacraments, particularly Confirmation and Holy Orders, that same Spirit scribes additional marks, imparts special graces and bestows unique spiritual gifts. (CCC 1317, CCC 1121, CCC 800)

Just before our Savior returns, the Holy Spirit will speak through God’s elect, revealing the “Man of Sin” (Antichrist, false-christ, the Beast) to all those with “eyes to see” and “ears to hear”. (2nd Thessalonians 2:3)

It is the Holy Spirit, who will, at the end of the age, transform our mortal bodies into glory and renovate the earth with holy fire, making all things new again.

(2nd Peter 3:7 -12, Revelation 21:1)

We know all this and more about the Holy Spirit because

it was first revealed by Jesus Christ, and later by

the Spirit Himself, working through the Apostles,

and their ordained successors, the Bishops

of the Holy Catholic Church.

Simple Mathematical Model Explains the Holy Trinity

Most of us Christians have a difficult time figuring out how 3 divine and distinct persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) constitute one, true God … even though we believe it to be true.

Jews, Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, and Unitarians deny God’s triune nature, even though it was “inferred” in a number of Old Testament passages, clearly revealed in the Gospels, and further explained in several of the Epistles.

Do the math:

1 x 1 x 1 = 1

Of course, for Bible literalists, who point out that the word “Trinity” cannot be found in scripture, there really is no adequate explanation.

For everyone else, I suggest this link to the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
