Road trip reflections

Having just returned from a week-long road trip, spanning the country from north to south and back, a few things stood out:

America is still a very beautiful country.

Cheap, abundant, gas/oil/energy = freedom.

Using GPS/Google/Alexa/Siri is helpful, but often, exasperating.

Inflation (as reflected in the price of gas, food and lodging) appears to be higher in “blue” states and in big cities.

Instances of public prayer (like people of all ages saying “grace” in restaurants) appears to be more prevalent in “red” states and in small towns.

Good value for money is still attractive, just about everywhere.

Staffing/employment/training and expertise remains a problem, everywhere and at virtually every level.

Politicians are the same, in all states. So are “people”.

Even a brief, personal encounter with a semi-trailer truck has the potential to ruin your whole day.

Keeping track of a bunch of young grandkids is a lot like trying to herd cats.
